Rediscovered this one with my son. 2005 publishing led to a lot of "those were the records at the time" conversations. I appreciated the story telling aspect to give some context to some of baseballs most famous moments.

Baseball Greatest Hitters
by S.A.Kramer

This book is mainly about all the greatest baseball players and how they became baseball players .Some of the baseball in this book are Babe Ruth,Ty Cobb, Lou Gehrig and others.
Babe Ruth is important because he is the most powerful in baseball.Ty cobb was the worst
baseball player he use to throw bats at people and only 2 people went to his funeral.Lou gehrig is famous because he had the most hits in his career.

There many main points in this book but there are three main points .The first main point is the home run king and his name is Babe Ruth. When he was little he they use to make fun of him because of his weight. But no boby swings the bat like him . He always have that power swing.
Babe die of cannser.

The second main point is that Ty Cobb is a grate baseball player but when a fan boos him he throws the bat or yell at them. he always had anger problems he will get mad if u say somthing stupid. At his funeral two people went . Ty die a lonely old rich man.

The third main point is that Lou Gehrig was one of the best player in baseball. He had the most RBI in the mayor league. He have the most consecutive games (2,130). He died in a early age he died of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He die at the age of 37.

What I already knew is that Babe Ruth is the home run king. One fact is that they use to make fun of Babe Ruth because of his weight.I knew that Ty Cobb is from the tigers. Lou Gehrig record has been broken by Derek Jeter .Derek beaten his RBI and hits.

The most important fact is that they did not let black people play baseball . The black never had right to do anything they want to do . After he became a baseball player many blacks started playing baseball.

The author wrote this book so kids and adults learn how baseball change over time. This book talks about the people how change baseball. The authors name is S.A.Kramer. This tell kids to try different things because there many things in the world. He is saying do not give up your dreams.

I will recommend this book to a friend because this book is good and they will enjoy this book.
I think this is the best baseball book i ever read. This book will be for little kids. This book have many different facts of different player.

I will rate this book report from 1 to 10 i will give it a 8 because I used information from the book.I think i did good in this book report.I think this is a far rating because I did not put the highest rate and i think i good in this book report .Thats how i will rate this book report.

This is a great book about baseball’s greatest hitters. They range from Ty Cobb to Miguel Cabrera. Ty Cobb is described as fighter. He’s been known to climb into the stands just to slug a fan who booed him. He has the motto: I’ve got to be first-in everything. He has the highest lifetime batting average. He did die a lonely and bitter man and only three baseball people came to his funeral. The first slugger was Babe Ruth. He is baseball’s first power hitter. Before Babe, a player could hit just 10 homers, but he hit 29! When he was young her had to be put in a reform school because of bad behavior. He learned to love baseball due to that experience in his life. He was well loved and kind. The world mourned when he passed. The author also describes the stories of Hank Aaron, Ted Williams as well as Hank Aaron and Miguel Cabrera. There is also a stats sheet for each player. Ted Williams has a batting average of .3995, but wants to make it .400. He ends up batting .404, but he will not back down. He wants the fans to know that he is truly a hitter. He also raised millions of dollars for children’s cancer hospitals. Hank Aaron had a few struggles and prejudices to overcome and many were not happy with him breaking Babe Ruths record. He holds the record for the most home runs for 33 years and holds the record for the most runs batted in. Miguel Cabrera a.k.a. Miggy, is the 14th player to win the Triple Crown ever. He also abused alcohol and this almost led to his downfall. It changed the way sports were viewed and the way substance abuse is handled. I would recommend this for any baseball fans for any collection. The author does a great job of giving statistics for each hitter as well as giving a little history on each player.

Kramer, S.A. Baseball’s Greatest Hitters Random House, 2015. $16.95 EARLY READER/NON-FICTION

Oh Wow, this is a no holds bar set of mini biographies that are VERY MATURE. There are knife fights, spitting, tantrums, racism, drunk driving, performance enhancing drugs and more. Featured athletes are Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, and Miguel Cabrera.

I wouldn’t touch this book to save my life for level 5 readers (listed as 2-4 grade on the Random house website). I realize this is the real life of these athletes but to these younger readers these people are heroes! Which means they literally will think that correlation equals causation..i.e. bad behavior is how these people became skilled and how skilled people act. I don’t think we should sugar coat reality, but for younger readers maybe we could focus more on the sports and less on the PG13 life antics. Seriously Hank Aarons, thank you for having an elementary reader safe life, a real sports hero!! This book would work for 5-6 grade but then again, they don’t ever seek out early readers, not even for fun. This book is an absolute NO.

Great book for young kids but it also doesn't shy away from the personality and character flaws of these hitters.
