Excerpt:
“I can’t stand you, dammit!” Brooke threw a glass across the room at him from the kitchen.
This woman must be out of her damn mind throwing his belongings in his house. He ducked before the glass could hit him and instead it hit the wall behind him. “You need to get out of my house with all that.” He said angrily
“Why can’t you spend time with me? You can spend all day with your boy, Matthew, but you can’t find any time for me? How is that fair?” Brooke whined
He tried to reign in his temper but her ridiculous whining was irritating him. “Brooke, I make time for you. Hell, I spend almost every day with you. You just can’t accept the fact that you can’t have me all to yourself. You’re selfish and spoiled. You always have been since the start of this relationship. Hell, even before we became a couple.”
She screamed and stomped her foot in a childlike manner. “You don’t know a good thing when you see it. I’m tired of wasting my time with you.”
He frowned deeply. He was so fed up with this shit. It was time to end this. “So, now you’re wasting your time with me? Well, you know what? Let me help you out then.” He walked over to his door and opened it for her. He watched as her eyes widened and realization dawned on her that she was being kicked out of his house. “You can leave now.” He said when she didn’t move.
She held her head high. He would not get the best of her. “You know what? You’re not worth it. I’m out of here.” She walked through the door with her head held high and he slammed it shut behind her.
Women… What was that saying? You can’t live with them and you can’t live without them. He had a different viewpoint on that theory. He had to calm down before he lost it. If Brooke hadn’t left, they may have ended up fighting. He’d never hit a woman in his entire life but he’d come close to it with her. She had a way of annoying the hell out of him with her constant whining and neediness. He did not understand women. It was as if nothing was ever good enough for them. Sometimes, he just wanted to give up on them all together and live the rest of his life as a single, unattached man. He was a decent guy with his own architectural business, car, and house. He was thirty-five years old, six feet tall, African-American, one-hundred and seventy pounds with caramel skin, gray eyes, low cropped hair, and a well sculpted chest and rock hard abs from the countless times he benched weights at the gym. He wasn’t conceited about his looks, just a humble guy looking for a do right woman, yet he seemed to get involved with the craziest women.
This book was just ok. I think some of the characters were underdeveloped and unnecessary to the story line. Characters would sporadically pop up in the book and often their story would drop of without completion or they would appear 50 or 60 pages later with little inter connectivity. I also did not get the religious undertones as it just appeared from out of nowhere. They would spend a page or two discussing religion and then nothing for a few chapters. I feel as if the story line was all over the place. Jaleel got on my nerves and Kayla was unbelievable at times.
Jaleel Spencer is the kind of man that every woman dreams of: he has his OWN architectural business, home that HE designed, fine luxury car, six feet tall, caramel skin, gray eyes, athletic body and SINGLE! But even though he is every woman dream, sometime dreams can turn into nightmares. Every woman Jaleel seems to meet has some sort of drama attached to them and Jaleel doesn't do drama so he decides to stay clear of women. Until he meets Kayla. There is something different, something special about Kayla and Jaleel just can't put his finger on it but he definitely likes it. Kayla Herrera is a back-up singer for Jill Scott who have swore off of men since her last relationship ended so badly but there is something about Jaleel that draws her to him. Jaleel and Kayla go through some major trying times in the course of their relationship and it seems like everyone wants to break them up so that they can have them. Will it work?
Yours Truly is a romantic drama because there is plenty of that to go around. It has you engrossed in the storyline and shaking your head or talk to yourself about the characters trying to remain clam to finish the story. The storyline is strong and consistent, very easy to follow even with the drama that is brewing in the background. I have absolutely enjoyed reading this novel by Tramaine Green and absolutely look forward to reading more from her.
Yours Truly grabbed my attention from the beginning especially when Stephanie was up to her antics, I really wanted to get more from her because I was intrigued by her psychotic character. I must admit that the book became too slow for me once the story line surrounding Stephanie was complete and I was growing irritated by the constant pet names used by Jaleel in reference to Kayla. All of that changed when Kayla's sister Alyssa came into the scene and turned everybody's life around. At that point the author had me on the edge of my seat anticipating what would happen next. I was screaming at Kayla for making some stupid decisions and getting herself into situations that could have been avoided and I was screaming at Alyssa for being so trifling. I enjoyed the roller coaster ride of a relationship between Kayla and Jaleel and felt for them when outside factors began affecting their relationship. I would have loved to have more background on Matt and Mahagony and I think they would make an interesting spin off. Overall, despite that fact that I felt the storyline dragged at times, I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading what else the author has to offer in regards to these characters. If you are looking for a drama filled love story, this is definitely one that I would recommend.
Your's Truly was full of twist, turns, romance and drama. The lead character Jaleel Spencer is handsome, successful and every woman's dream. Literally! I don't want to give too much of the book away but let me tell you that their is a stalker who made me want to reach through the book and snactch her up. There is a woman who loves Jaleel with all of her heart and their struggles to find and keep that love will keep you turning the pages. The book was a little lengthy at times but I believe that the author did an excellent job of describing the scene so that you could visulize it in your mind. Good book and at the current price it's a steal...
I thought the book was ok...Jaleel and Kayla’s story was full of drama, passion and romance but it seemed to drag quite a bit throughout.
Jaleel is a handsome single man that owns his own architectural firm but he seems to draw the crazy out of the women he’s involved with. Although he’s a great guy he has a lot to learn about love and relationships.
And he meets Kayla, a successful young woman that is trying to restore some peace and balance in her life. Their connection is powerful and the love they have for each other is undeniable but is it enough to get them through a happily ever after???
I felt this book was pretty good. It definitely had romance, drama and suspense. I felt that the characters were believable but I also do feel that some of the storyline was predictable. It seemed to have started off slow and then really picked up by the end of the book. I, however, cringed a great deal because of the grammatical errors. I'm just weird like that. :)
This is an older book that I found in my kindle library. It is the true definition of a great love story. But of course with every love, there is trials and tribulations. That's just a part of life. The question is, are you willing to work at it to make the relationship successful. Hopefully there will be a happy ending and that love will conquer all.
This was good book. This book centered on Kayle and Jaleel relationship with the vengeful half sister of Kayla and the creazed ex lover of Kayla. I like how the drama kept unfolding. I was glad to see them work it out in the end
This is a very good book I love it from the beginning to end. Even through I wanted to beat Alyssa down and slap Jaleel for falling in her trap.I would recommend this book it is a good read I look forward to reading more books by this author!!!!!
This was an enjoyable read . Definitely filled with a few twists and turns. The authors grammar was pretty good . The only flaw was it was an overkill of drama . Drama is good but sometimes to much . Definitely will read more from this author.
I loved this book, it was entertaining and had be hooked from the first chapter. I recommend this book to everyone it is definitely one of my favorites.
