Another Neo-led reading moment, in which a cat decides that it wants a snack and sets a trap. However, each item that lands in the trap is either not to the cat's liking or is too large to act as a decent meal. Time and again the cat stumbles through the trap setting and end result. Then, its owner appears and one final trap is set, hopefully with a new outcome. Neo is speeding through these books and loves how successful he is getting. He plans on tackling more next weekend.

A funny little ditty
about a hungry kitty
who will hunt without pity,
though the catch is . . . bitty.

Cute and amusing, especially in the final pages as the hunt takes a new -- and more successful -- tack.

My daughter read this book to me so often that it got worn out and I had to tape the pages back together. She thought it was a very funny story.

Guided Reading Level / Fountas and Pinnell Level D. Lots of text repetition. Most words can be easily sounded out phonetically. There are some beginning (sn, tr, sw, fr, dr) and ending (ck, nt, sh) consonant blends and trickier vowel sounds are in words like "chow" and "meow," and sight words such as: wants, too, no, and some. An excellent early reader.

A cute story about all the things a cat will do to get food, and how they can present problems. Since it involves familiar animals, like pigs, fish, and dogs, the words and story are easy to understand for early readers.

Cat is hungry and wants a snack so the cat sets a trap, and when that one backfires, another, and so on. Will Cat ever get a snack?

Cat evidently has the same skill at trap setting as Wile E. Coyote. Something always seems to backfire...until the very end when he sets a trap all cat owners will identify with...the cute kitty trap. Much funnier than I thought it would be, and the vocabulary is perfect for beginning readers. The rhymes are done quite well too, and kids can practice making predictions when the cat sets each trap. What will the cat really catch?

This book is great for early readers. They will find this book simple, yet funny and witty. Children will advance in their reading skills, but this book can also be used in a lesson on rhyming! There are plenty of simple rhyming words that young, early readers should be able to understand and enjoy.

I read this out of curiosity because the cover is cute, and since it's vastly below my reading level lol, I can't say I actually enjoyed it. But I'll give it three stars because the art was, indeed, quite charming and I could see my younger self rereading this until it falls apart. I especially like the ending.

This is a great story for introducing reading fundamentals to young children. There are fun, colorful illustrations and simple, rhyming and repetitive narrative that they will understand and be able to read with little to no assistance. Our youngest really enjoyed reading this book, even more so because she read some of it herself! We've read this one a couple of times.

This was a darling book for my six year old son to read. We laughed at the mishaps the cat had during his adventures throughout the story. I bought this book for Kindle, and the pictures are pretty small, but that's par for the course so I wasn't disappointed or surprised.
