In the near future, the man who can control software and computers mentally will be king. At least he would be, if he wasn’t being pursued inside the realm of online video games by an outlawed self aware Artificial Intelligence, intent on ripping the secret of psycho-software manipulation from his living mind and using it to subjugate an unaware human population.

Chicago based Declan Sparks, a political refugee from the Martian Colonies, is a man who discovers a unique ability – to mentally perceive and modify software as it is running. Along with his friend, Hugh Nelson, he explores this ability within the realms of networked video game playing.
Unbeknownst to them, an outlawed Artificial Intelligence is also watching Declan’s development, along with a young researcher named Peggy McPhillips. The A. I. is looking for ways to control the conscious human population, having already found ways to utilize humans in suspended animation, using their collective experience to inform its decision making process. Using the local Mob it attempts to capture Declan, with twists and turns along the way – including visits to the creator of the online Network, training from a disgraced professor and an online Hacker looking for his lost love, - culminating in an explosive faceoff between Declan and the A.I. within the confines of an online video game.
