What happens when ancient demonic curses and modern technology collide?

Very bad things, that's what!

When Cassie Halliday moves to the small town of Highton Point, she's running. She's looking to start a whole new life, and for a short while, it looks like that might just happen. Then people start dying under mysterious circumstances, and her old reporter's curiosity kicks into high gear. The only trouble is that her investigations put her firmly in the sight of the ancient evil that's stalking the town.

Unless she does something, and fast, there's every likelihood that her life will be destroyed, just like the lives of all the other victims were, and she's running out of time.

Cassie enlists the help of a local deputy, and together, they have to figure out what's behind the terrible despair that's stalking their small town, and how you kill something you can't see.

This book was different in it's plot line than most supernatural books. It varied from the usual vampires, werewolves, and ghosts. It instead used a mysterious "shadow" as the culprit for the bad goings on in the small town. I liked the plot and the book was very well written, as far as it being easy to read and understand. I did think, though, that the plot had a few slower points in it that could have been a bit faster. The characters were great though and very well developed. I came to really enjoy Cassie, John and the other characters. This book does keep the reader guessing though, which I did like very much. Just when I thought it was getting predictable there was a "kink" thrown into it and I just loved it. I hate books that are written in such a way that you can predict everything that will happen in them because they are "molded" from the same mold as other books like them. I think this book wasn't like that because it was unlike most books I have read in the past. I loved the mystery up until the end of the book...and after. I could see this being a start of a series because of the ending. It wasn't a bad ending by any means, just one that I could see being made into more books.

I love the idea of a book that marries modern technology with ancient, occult ideas. My idea of a good horror is not a slasher, but one that makes you look under the bed before you go to sleep, and that's exactly what this book is!

I've scared myself writing it, and I hope to give readers a good scare too!
