Straight guy/gay guy; romantic/cynic; problem solver/problem avoider - a match made in heaven, right? Maybe not, but it's a match made in the Looking Glass, which has the power to show the right person an image of their True Love. When Marc goes looking for coffee one morning, he finds a mysterious antique store and Simon instead. Simon is the keeper of the Looking Glass mirror, and informs Marc that the bewitching man he sees instead of his own image is Marc's True Love.
Just a few minor obstacles: Marc is (or always has been) straight; Simon can't tell him who, or where, this man might be; and if Marc CAN find him, he's got a bit of a problem explaining why they are meant to be together. Oh, and figuring out what to do when they DO get, um, together.
Liam thinks the strange (but hot) straight guy who finds him in a bar one night is a bit cracked, but finds the challenge of showing Marc why he's got the wrong guy kind of sexy and oddly compelling. It's an interesting switch-up, having the straight guy pursuing the gay guy and trying to persuade him they were meant to be together. It has the "what's hot about manlove" aspect that those who like GFY stories will enjoy, and the "everyday magic" dynamic that was in "Blind Passion". It reminded me a bit of Lynn Lorenz's "Common Powers" trilogy - not woo-woo paranormal powers, but an acceptance of a more interesting reality than most of us live with.
This is a fun, sweet, hot & sexy story that reminds you that someone who loves you is the best mirror of all.
