Ever since her mom’s death, Melanie has dreaded the holidays. This year, though, she has to put on a happy face: Amy, one of the underprivileged children she’s been a friend to, is spending Thanksgiving weekend with her!

When a kidney becomes available for Miguel’s ailing mother, he drops everything to be by her side. In a moment of desperation, he vows he’ll do anything, anything, if only his mom will get well. Will Miguel have the chance to make good on his promise?

Now that Eight Prime is this close to buying a school bus for needy kids, there’s no further reason for them to stay together. Nicole’s ecstatic: She’s free! At last she can go back to her regular life. The funny thing is, she doesn’t really want to anymore. . . .

Maybe achieving their goal isn’t the end . . . just the beginning of everything else.

Jesse’s been sentenced to 40 hours of community service as part of his coach’s re-admittance plan to the football team. Nothing is satisfying to Jesse any longer. The parts with Jesse at the grocery store with the older man he’s been assigned to, is quite funny. The man moves so slowly for Jesse that he finds himself wanting to place the man in the grocery cart so they can move through faster.

Miguel’s mother is recovering from her kidney transplant.

A pancake breakfast is held at Jenna and Peter’s church as another fundraiser for the bus for the program Peter and his friend Chris head up.

Melanie spots Jenna and Peter holding hands and is somewhat saddened by that. She’s also melancholy at the sight of her friend with her younger siblings, knowing there’s hardly a chance that she (Melanie) will ever have a sibling. Her father continues to drink.

This is a nice clean series. What I find though is that situations sometimes are resolved a bit too easily for real life. The first books in this series were my fav. The later ones are lacking the draw that was apparent in the earlier ones. There is no sex in this series so far and one has to wonder why something so prevalent today especially among young adults, is not addressed. Why at least no scenes of a character trying to make a move on another and is fought off or something. I understand this is a Christian series but Christians are faced with this issue as well as the other issues covered here. I’m thinking that reading about ways to handle sexual advances in a way that supports Christian values, would be beneficial to the age group this series is designed to reach.

The book is really average, too average, I only completed it because I had nothing better to do on my bus rides. Honestly, the only scenes I used to anticipate -and not because they really are this thrilling, but they are compared to the other scenes- are the ones of Jesse and Charlie.
Sometimes I liked parts where it talks about Miguel but the book overall, isn't this good.
The moral of it though, is something I really respected, but it still doesn't motivate you to believe in the moral itself.
