Origin of the Soul and the Purpose of Reincarnation

Rate this book
Origin of the Soul and the Purpose of Reincarnation serves as a complement to prior books on reincarnation written by Dr. Semkiw, such as Born Again and Return of the Revolutionaries, which focus on cases that demonstrate objective evidence of reincarnation. Dr. Semkiw draws upon independent research to better understand the nature of the soul and how reincarnation works. He also utilizes information gathered through Kevin Ryerson, a trance medium who has been featured in Shirley MacLaine's books. Topics covered include when and how souls were created, how personality is determined, and the nature of time and space. Split incarnation, where one soul inhabits more than one body at a time, as well as ghosts, astrology, the Kabbalah and Enneagram are also addressed. Stages of initiation, identified in the life of Jesus, are reviewed, and child prodigies are explained through reincarnation. Respected clairvoyants have contributed to this book including Echo Bodine, Judy Goodman, Way

This was a really disappointing book. A plethora of anecdotal stories are used to justify questionable assertions about reincarnation. This book was a great example of missing the forest for the trees, from a spiritual perspective. I think the author totally misunderstood the concept of the 7 rays, as is described by such authors as Alice Bailey. There are many pages of quotes asking people why they believe they are reincarnations of famous people. The answers these people give are used by the author as proof of the reincarnation concept. For this reason and others, it's an intellectually lazy book which caters to people with little discriminative capacity, who are emotionally excited by the subject.

This book definitely made me think. Even if you're not a believer in reincarnation, I think it's important to expose yourself to new ideas. If you're interested in thought provoking books, try the books by Dr. Semkiw.
