The night before their wedding, Nicolo Covelli's fiancé disappeared without a trace. He grieved for her until the day he died.
115 years later, Rachel Delacourte is suddenly plagued with nightmares where she is entombed alive. But it's not just the nightmares that compel her to seek help from the Covelli sleep clinic, it's the errotic dreams that follow and the disturbing feeling that the man in her dreams is real.
He’d never met Rachel, but he knew her intimately all the same. His fingers had sifted through her silky dark hair, traced the line of her delicate jaw, caressed her soft skin. Night after night she came to him while he slept and made love to him in his dreams. For a year now, she has haunted him, consumed his mind both day and night, and it made Nic wonder…was he the one haunting Rachel Delacourte’s dreams as well?
I rarely read contemporary romance but found the dream element in this story fascinating. This is a paranormal romance in which the heroine has a recurrent dream that she is murdered but it is always followed by a second dream of a highly erotic nature. After suffering for a year with her dreams she finally seeks help from a dream center and discovers that the doctor who attends her, a man she has never met, is also having erotic dreams in which she is his lover.
The plot deals with the parallel lives of another pair of lovers from one hundred years earlier, but I don't wish to spoil anything by saying much more. This was a romantic escape read that I highly enjoyed. Recommended for those who enjoy time travel romances and stories of that nature.
At this time, this title is available for $1.50 on Kindle.
3.5 stars, rounding up to 4. I'll start by saying Ms. Reeves tackled a very tricky trope. This story grabbed me right from the beginning. I really enjoy the reincarnation trope and found the characters quite likeable. Rachel has been having disturbing dreams of a woman who gets murdered, and goes for help to a sleep clinic. Enter dishy doctor Nic, who happens to have a connection to the murdered woman. The story began to lose me a little half way through. I needed more action; most scenes consisted of Rachel and Nic talking. And I would have loved more heat in the sex scenes; they were very romantic but I wanted to feel more steam and sizzle. However, I will be honest and say my tastes run more to the erotic. This is a sweeter book. I think the book resolved as well as a book like this can because, let's face it, it is not a realistic story. However, I can't help feeling it all worked a little too tidily. I enjoyed the author's writing style very much. She has a lovely voice and the characters spoke realistically. And I've read similar stories that are downright saccharine. Ms. Reeves kept it frothy and romantic, but never killed me with sweetness. I would absolutely read more by this author.
This was my first read by Kimberley Reeves. The story wasn't too bad but it seemed like Nic and Rachel came together a bit too quickly, especially since it really wasn't about reincarnated lovers as I thought. In fact, it was a bit mystifying. Regardless, it was ok with me because they actually weren't my favorite couple in the book. I found myself enjoying the story of Nicolo and Rochelle much better. Now, their love story brought a bit of a tear to my eye.
I very much liked how this book ended especially with Nicolo and Rochelle, the couple that Rachel and Nic dreamed about. Now, Nicolo, is, of course, Nic's great-grandfather, so that should indicate right there that Rachel and Nic were not reincarnated lovers. I'm actually not even sure why Rachel was chosen. She had no relation, other than being French, to Rochelle so it was weird how she was somehow the conduit for Rochelle. Anyway, good story if a bit mystifying.
This was a self-published book and had several errors in it but didn't really take away from the story. I liked the writing, although at times it seemed simplistic and definitely felt like an author who is still trying to figure out her writing style. I've downloaded another one of her books and plan to download one more so I am definitely open to reading more by this author.
I'm intrigued to see what else Kimberley Reeves puts out in the future.
I loved the ending....I think I would've had a hard time doing it...but I would've done the same. So Glad it ended the way it did or I'd be writing a really mean letter to an author today...LOL
The plot is one of those that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The idea of meeting in the dreams was only the tip of the ice burg when it comes to this story and the characters. The plot really kept shifting and moving forward at an amazing pace and while it added new little clues with each page, it was easy to follow and stay invested in the story and characters. I don’t know how much more I can talk about it with out spoiling it but this was a beautiful story and I’m so glad I read it. 4 Stars #2OCCJD
That was beautiful. I was truly afraid there for a moment thinking Rachel would have to suffer through life remembering Nic but never having that life of love. But the author managed to solve the heartbreaking dilemma beautifully.
All in all, I couldn't put the book down it was so enchantingly beautiful.
2 1/2 stars. So a little bit of a let down because I just read "Broken" by the author which I positively adored and my expectations were high.
This story was a little formulaic and fluffy, where Broken was also a stretch of the imagination, the emotions were strong and carried the story.
Rachel, an architect, has been having strange dreams. In one dream she's pursued, attacked and buried alive by unseen assailants. In another dream she's with a lover who takes her to the heights of passion. She lets her sister talk her into going to a sleep disorder clinic where she meets Nic. Nic is also having dreams of mystery lover for the past year.
In addition, Nic's grandfather has hired Rachel to work on the families ancestral mansion.
There is a supernatural connection between Rachel and Nic and a couple from the past.
It was an ok read for a freebie, not sorry I read it but not a keeper.
Does this story exists somewhere else under a different name? The story is fantastic and unique but by end I can swear I've read it before! But not I'm an over done Grimm Tales gone Disney way where it told and retold so many time that the whole thing is old hat. No, more of an "I read a 25 page short story one time and it was so good the author flushed it out into a full blown novel. Yeah, defiantly that...hmmmm. Any ways, I loved it and would defiantly read it over and over agin enough that I could start quoting it.
Well-written book! I felt like the story was executed fairly well. It was an entertaining read! The reason I didn't give it full stars is because I felt that I've read this plotline before, a few times, and everything wrapped up a bit too neatly at the end. Also, there were a few grammar errors in the book that were entirely avoidable and unfortunately for me (who is, admittedly, a stickler for grammar) that took me out of the story when it happened.
This book was just ok. I liked how there was a historical aspect to it, so it wasn't just romance. I think the two main characters fell in love a little too quickly so it didn't make a lot of sense. They also spoke everything they were feeling instead of making the reader guess, which sounded awkward when they spoke to each other. I will say that the ending was amazing and made up for the so-so plot.
I was very unsure when I bought this book, but I'm glad that I did get it. Kimberly Reeves spins a magical tale in Dream Lover. This is a book that I could not put down! The book is fast paced and keeps you engaged wanting more. You quickly fall in love with Rachel and Nic.
I had to keep reading. I had to know how their story ended, and it was like no other story I have read before. I will look for more from this author!
I wouldn't of thought that I could enjoy a romance novel AS much as I've ENJOYED this one.. BUT I was so enthralled by Rochelle and Nicolo and their overlapping story WITH Rachel and Nic...that I finished the book IN 2 days ...which is AWESOME but, now I'm going to miss them...I hope a sequel on their kid's comes out TO continue THE story..
Not sure why this one didn't quite gel with me but it might be because the main characters got together far to fast for the kind of story it was. I loved the dream stuff and the reincarnation but it wasn't enough to make the story that interesting to me. Mind you as I've been on a glut of m/m romances it might just have been the f/m aspects took some getting back into!
I thought Dream Lover was amazing! The story, and the characters were great. There is so much mystery in the story and plenty of romance. Rachel is a strong female character, and Nic is a true gentleman. I loved this book!
The history stuff was decently done, but the reincarnation stuff was awkward. Like another reviewer, I found myself far more interested in the historical "past lives" romance than the current day one. Plus the ending is super weak.

Very interesting. Very readable. Likable characters, well-paced storyline. There were parts of the books that were too "dream within a dream within a dream within a dream" but overall I was pretty impressed. I'll be looking for other books by Kimberley Reeves.
This is for everyone who wants a feel good read. It has an even mix of suspense, love, turmoil and drama all rolled into one. I like Ms. Reeves writing style and will choose more of her works in the future.
I wish I can give more stars. It was just beautiful romance story that I finished it in one day. What a love and would recommend for ,y friends to read it too.
Again love this author...just when you think you have the answers, she crosses you twice as a reader. Love that she keeps me on my toes for the outcome
