This was an interesting read. It was written so it seemed more like I was reading a diary /journal. I think some of the stories would have been more difficult to read if not for the way it was written.
I realized at the end of the book that my husband, my brother and I visited the USS North Carolina quite a few years ago on a trip through Wilmington, NC. As a matter of fact I think that's where we bought the book.

Great to read a first-person account of the war. Good, too, to read about it from the perspective of a seaman. The author was the grandfather of one of my students.
