These 4 stories are bound together by sudden weather crises: A hailstorm, a prairie tornado, a Colorado mountain storm and a hurricane in Indianola, Texas.

WHIRLWIND by Anita Mills
Gunman Ben Hadley is in western Kansas that July of 1877. He's been hired to kill a stubborn rancher, Preston Mitchell, who has refused to sell his land to Jack Matheny.

As Ben approaches Mitchell's land, a tornado mass forms -- and heads directly for the gunman. He sees a young woman in the distance, trying to move her sheep out of the weather. He jumps on the woman and keeps her under him as the tornado rolls across them, destroying the house, sheep pens and uprooting grass.

After surviving both Ben's jump and the tornado, Jess (Preston's daughter) starts a funny repartee with Ben. The gunman finds out that Preston died three weeks earlier; then he realizes that Jess has no intention of selling her ranch or leaving. And she has no way to stand against the evil Jack Matheny.

This is one of the best of the four stories - a delight! - 4.5 stars

PRIDE'S WAY - Patricia Potter - 4.5 stars
Is there anything this woman can't write? This is a great story!

Pride Gideon is dripping blood and finally falls from his horse; he'd rather die from the sudden cold rain storm than from the people chasing him. Surely Jack Keegan couldn't find him in this blinding storm ... could he?

Susannah O'Callaghan has just buried her father, Daniel. Although she'd promised her dad to leave immediately (so Dave Gallagher wouldn't kill her to get Daniel's mine claim), she had no intention of running from Gallagher.

Chasing after Daniel's mule, Susannah finds the bloody stranger and takes him home. When she opens his saddlebags and reads a wanted poster about King Gideon, Susannah thinks she has found a gunman who will save her and the mining claim.

When Pride is better, he refuses to use a gun ... and the rest is a fascinating story!

STORMS NEVER LAST - Vivian Vaughan - 3.5 stars
Lindsey Mae Burnett had run out of options ... and the stranger across from her would be her first. She was the newest whore in the "House of Fanciful Delights" and didn't really know what to expect, other than ruination!

March Sutton couldn't figure out this whore. One minute she seemed to be an old hand at her trade, the next, she seemed scared and unsure. What was going on?

Just before Lindsey joins March on the bed, he notices the awful roar of the wind and warns that the expected hurricane must be near. They hurriedly dress and escape before the building collapses ... and then the adventure begins!

ONCE STRUCK - Lynn Michaels - 4 stars
Her brother Will had committed suicide a year ago, leaving Peach Macauley to tend their 230-acre farm alone. All Peach wants to do is harvest her wheat, sell her land and move to Omaha to live with her aunt.

It's time to harvest the wheat but Peach had to shoot one of her needed mules. Now, she had to appeal to her fellow farmers ... who wasn't of a mind to help her.

Kit Taggert, the one-time bad boy of the area, had recently moved back to Lynchburg, Nebraska. He offers to help Peach ... for the price of a night with her.

Each story is equally as good as the other - rare in an anthology. Highly recommend.
