How to Detect Crooked Gambling: Marked Cards and Loaded Dice

Rate this book
Gambling is big business. Each year billions of dollars are spent on gambling in all forms. Hustlers take the lion's share of this money… possibly some of it is your money. At least 100,000 decks of marked cards and an equal number of loaded dice and accessory equipment are manufactured in the U.S. every year by companies who claim these products are merely for "entertainment purposes" or for use by magicians only. Don't you believe it. In reality, most of the people who buy these marked cards are "mechanics", not legitimate, professional magicians. Mechanics earn their livelihood by skillfully manipulating a crooked deck of cards to their own advantage. Are you sure your card playing or dice rolling "friends" aren't playing magician tricks on you? Here's how you can protect yourself against cardsharps and loaded dice rollers... learn how to spot almost every kind of known gaff.

Frank Garcia was a professional. He traveled the country, sniffing out underhanded gambling rings and breaking them down with his skills. He wrote a book on it back in the 1970s. Garcia felt that to find crooked gambling, you had to familiarize yourself with their methods. The book demonstrates all sorts of manipulations and tools used to fleece people. It's interesting, but I don't gamble at all.

I can't see myself using any of these techniques, but the photos are well done, and show precisely what they need to.

I enjoyed the book. Thanks for reading my review, and see you next time.
