A sexy Scot. A mystical inheritance. What could go wrong?
Veternarian Hannah MacPherson knows better than to believe in love at first--or any--sight. True, being swept away by Taggart de Gaelson to the vast Scottish castle she's mysteriously inherited is uber-romantic. The legacy is totally legitimate, and its messenger is big, broad-shouldered, and smokin' in more ways than one . . .
Too bad Taggart forgot to mention that Hannah's also a Guardian of magical dragons called the Draecna. And as Hannah's sworn otherworldly protector, Taggart is honor-bound not to lay a hand on her, no matter how close he gets. . .
But turning duty into pleasure is just too tempting. And for Hannah, mastering her powers and saving two worlds from evil will be way easier than showing one hardheaded warrior that breaking all the rules means they are eternally made for each other . . .

Yes. I gave my OWN book 5 stars. Of course I did. If I didn't like my book, I don't think anyone else would either. I've had readers ask me why I haven't rated my books - wanted to know what was wrong with them. I've also had readers inform me that I shouldn't rate my books - stating it isn't right. I'm not sure what the "correct" answer is. After all, nothing in life is black and white --there's gray areas in everything. So, please know when you see my five stars on my books, they're not posted to inflate my ratings or trick anyone. They're posted because I love all my "babies". I hope if you find them pleasant reads - that you'll love my babies too. If you discover you didn't connect to my stories, I'm sorry they weren't your cup of tea and I still wish you nothing but happy reading. :-)
This was a really cute story. The beginning of this story was kinda slow for me. But as soon as Lara and Taggart arrived in Scotland it quickly picked up.The dragons in this book kinda reminded me of the dragon kin series. There were moments that the dragons and Taggart bickering that had me giggling. But overall the was a sweet romance that took time to develop and bloom. I was surprised and sad when a character I really liked was killed though. I hated that. Then the ending had me sad and teary eyed. What I wanted at the end was a few more pages. It seemed so fast and it felt like there wasn't enough. It took the last page and a half for everything to change for the better. I wanted a little more. So I hope there will be another book to this, so that I can find out what happened after that last page.
I thoroughly enjoyed the world Greyson created. Hannah's character was very endearing and she had very interesting powers. I loved Taggart's character from the moment we meet him. I was so excited to see how their relationship evolved and I was nervous until the very end. The Draecna were a very interesting species and I liked how the different worlds tied together. I hope there are more books to come.
Eternity’s Mark By Maeve Greyson Copyright March 2012 Publisher Brava Paranormal Romance
Sacred blood flows in Hannah MacPherson’s veins; she’s just too hardheaded to realize it. After losing a husband to the Iraq war, she’s squirreled herself away in a tiny town where she snarls at any man who gives her a second glance. But Taggart de Gaelson knows more about Hannah than she could ever fathom. As her assigned protector, Taggart’s grown tired of Hannah ignoring his messages from Scotland—and now he’s come to retrieve her.
The balance of the Continuum depends on a race of sacred creatures who maintain the strength of the portals. Only Hannah’s touch can release the hatchlings from their eggs. Sworn to protect Hannah from others who lust for control of the beasts, Taggart must win her trust. But as he battles at her side, can he protect his heart?
Hannah MacPherson is a veterinarian in her hometown of Jasper Mills. She lives a quiet life taking care of her neighbors’ pets, and farm animals. In return they take care of her. The whole town had a hand in raising her after her mother and grandmother died so her life is pretty placid. Of course there’s the family gift, her ability to understand the animals around her and communicate with them in return. Her current problem is the trickster who keeps moving her car and parking it at fire plugs in the Town Square causing her to receive an inordinate amount of tickets from the town’s Sheriff. The fact that he leaves cutesy little notes on them is not endearing him to her either. Today she is going to find out who the culprit or culprits are. She’s set up a camera overlooking the town and will photograph the jokester once and for all. Meanwhile across the world in Scotland a man Hannah has never met or heard of is getting more and more annoyed with her. Taggart de Gaelson has been sending her letter after letter trying to contact her about an inheritance that would change her life. It seems she is the last living heir to a castle and a large area of land. Taggart is forced to travel to the US to find her and convince her to visit Scotland and her inheritance. This book has all the makings of a classic romance and adventure. Hannah our unsuspecting heroine will have to dig deep and learn to use all the skills and gifts that are her true family inheritance. She will face challenges she never dreamed of, and face long hidden truths. When I first read the blurb for this book I knew that it was a story that I had to read and share with the world. I was drawn deeply into the heart of the characters, and found myself looking out of Hannah’s eyes through most of it. My summation of the book is this: Outstanding, Romantic, Scottish Castles, Dragons and Maidens. Who could ask for more? FTC Full Disclosure: I received this book from the publisher, who only asked for a fair and impartial review.
Nothing beats a brand new adventure and then add in dragons, count me in. Action, alternate worlds, undying love, a secret legacy and the beauty of Scotland are all wrapped up in Eternity’s Mark.
Hannah has no idea that she is the last of her kind and is content to live out the remaining of her life in her small town. She has lost the love of her life and has no plans to move on, no matter what the town plans. They believe that it is time for her to move on and have plotted against her to help find a new love. She scoffs at their foolish tactics and squashes every trick they pull. She was not prepared for the likes of Taggart though.
Taggart de Gaelson has searched high and low for Hannah and will do everything but kidnap her to bring her back to her rightful home, Taroc Na Mor. After meeting the tiny woman and dealing with her, he is reevaluating his grand plan. She is strong willed and stubborn, but he hasn’t lived as long as he has to let this little spitfire ruin his plans and the future of his people. Let the battle of wills begin.
Eternity’s Mark has a totally new feel for me. It had simplicity to it, yet the details of the world building were imaginative and striking. The story was complex as a whole but while reading Eternity’s Mark I was never confused or lost. Ms. Greyson has developed a fascinating new universe filled with fantastical creatures built around a beautiful and imaginative legend.
This is an extremely easy read. While the romance had a strong presence in the story, the history of the Draecna is what caught my attention. This is by no means an explicit sexual novel. Ms. Greyson has written a sensual love story that captures your heart. It is a very sweet touching tale.
I did find some of the conclusions in the story too quickly resolved with “aha” moments that had me scratching my head thinking “how in the world did they come up with that”. The foundation of the story was strong, but it just missed something to bring it on up to the next level for me.
Eternity’s Mark is a good story to read if you want something sweet and entertaining. A very pleasant read, with sexy Scotsmen, an amazing alternate world and a break your heart love story. Oh yeah and dragons too!
Hannah is still trying to overcome the death of her husband. Her life a routine, she works, visits his grave, and works. Declining any dates, she sticks to herself.
Along comes hunky Scot Taggart with an offer she desperately wants to refuse: she has inherited a castle in Scotland and should visit it. Despite Taggart’s dogged insistence, she thinks about selling it instead, but Hannah changes her mind when strange things begin to happen.
When she finally arrives at Taroc Na Mor, she receives her first shock of many in the shape of cheeky Draecna Gearlach, a young-ish dragon. It turns out that Hannah is a Sacred Guardian whose duty it is to bring young Draecna eggs to hatch – and keep them safe. Her mother and grandmother had both been Guardians but they were killed to stop them from doing their duty. Hanna suddenly finds herself in danger – not just from the sizzling connection to Taggart, but also from the machinations of his evil brother, Sloan, who plans to raise his own Draecna army and gain eternal life.
When Hannah is snatched from her safe haven and brought to Sloan to help hatch a stolen Draecna egg, Taggart has his hands full not only finding her alive, but also fighting his brother. But will he be in time?
Eternity’s Mark is a fast-paced fantasy romance, incorporating magic, shape-shifters and cute dragons called Draecna. There are plenty of intriguing twists in the plot, which never slows down once it takes off.
It took me a little while to get into this book but once the story flowed, it became fabulous and shifted from a 4* read to 5* in my mind. I’m not a fan of Scottish accents in romance novels – I’ve thrown bestsellers against the wall for overdoing it – but here, it didn’t bother me, especially once the story shifted to Scotland. I barely noticed it then, which means I was too engrossed in the plot. A good sign! And whilst I didn’t like Hannah in the beginning, her character grows throughout the story, and her feisty courage breaks through. I was routing for her at the end.
I’ve wondered, smiled, laughed out loud and cried a tear or two in this fantastic adventure. I can highly recommend it.
Eternity’s Mark by Maeve Greyson Paranormal Romance –Feb. 28th, 2012 3 ½ stars
Hannah MacPherson is an exhausted, overworked veterinarian who is quite lonely if she would only admit it. As a widow, she says she doesn’t need a man but boy does she get a gorgeous surprise! For Hannah does not realize that she is a mythical dragon guardian and that she is in danger.
When a mysterious and sexy man named Taggart de Gaelson arrives in her small town, Hannah can’t help but feel she knows him however impossible it may seem. When she discovers she is the sole heir to a beautiful and haunting Scottish castle, she wants no part of it. But as a powerful Draecna, Taggart is her protector and future mate. He has different plans for her, and he is running out of time for there are others who want to kill Hannah!
This was a fascinating new world. I like that the original mythology of the Draecna. It was very different from many of the paranormal romances out in the market. The hero, Taggart is very sexy. I just couldn’t understand why Hannah took soooo long to finally let him into her heart. Hannah is kind of slow and sometimes a bland character. While I liked her work ethic and memory to her dead husband she seems to hold herself back a lot in the beginning of story which caused it to drag. I kept waiting for something to happen! Taggart has to pull her almost kicking to Scotland. I wished she had shown some enthusiasm most women would be delighted to find they inherited a castle in Scotland or at least been curious. But as the story progresses, so did my enthusiasm for the book.
I was also utterly charmed by the endearing young Draecna named William. If you love dragons and Scotland, this intriguing book will surprise you!

I totally got sucked into Maeve's book Eternity's Mark. It was a unique story with very likable characters. The way she sets a scene and her attention to detail is amazing. This book was so hard to put down. It had my attention from beginning to end.
Hannah McPherson is a very strong woman. She is a grieving widow who doesn't feel she will ever be at a place where she can ever love another man again. Taggart de Gaelson comes to Jasper Mills to persuade Hannah to come with him to see a castle in Scotland that she has inherited. Did I mention that Taggart hasn't told Hannah yet that she is the sacred Guardian to magical dragons called Draecna.
Once Hannah and Taggart get to Scotland I love how the whole story unfolds. From how Hannah reacts to the news about being a Guardian to how quickly she finds herself in love with Taggart. There is never a dull moment. Did I also forget to mention that Taggart harbors a very personal secret. A secret that could change the very foundation of his relationship with Hannah. Can you say oh my goodness (insert any g word you prefer....lol)! I would say more but I really don't want to ruin this story for anyone.
Maeve does a phenomenal job telling her story. My new mission is to get my hands on her book The Highlanders's Fury. I am so a fan of hers now. I feel Eternity's Mark has something for everyone. On a scale from 1-10 I give Eternity's Mark a big 10. If you are a fan of true love, mythical creatures, adventure, and an all out great story than this book is for you. Everyone adult 18+ or even a mature 17 year old (just because there is some hot sex in this book....^_^) must pick up a copy of Eternity's Mark. Let Hannah and Taggart's story transport you to Scotland through their love.
Hannah is emotionally stuck in the past and determined to stay in her small mountain town. Taggart nurses hurts of his own, but he's single-minded in the pursuit of a noble agenda--one that involves Hannah. When his efforts at luring Hannah to Scotland with a promised inheritance fail, he flies from Scotland to press his case in person. They find each other irresistibly attractive, but he cannot and she will not become romantically involved. Taggart manages to convince Hannah to have a look at her inheritance in Scotland, which turns out to be in a remote location. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but let's just say Hannah's inheritance isn't what she expects...and neither is Taggart.
I loved the interaction between Hannah and Taggart as they forge a path toward a common destiny. Although certain paranormal hints were sprinkled into the beginning of the story, I REALLY enjoyed it when the blinders came off. Greyson manages to paint wonderfully visual pictures with words, and the spicy scenes were hot without being overly graphic. I want to reread this book to sink into the details, since the first time I raced through to learn what happens with Hannah and Taggart!
This was my first Maeve Greyson book, but I'm adding all her other titles to my TBR list.
Hannah McPherson has a special inheritance handed down to her through her mother’s side. Taggart de Gaelson is her assigned protector. It’s up to him to convince her to leave her precious mountain and fly to Scotland to claim her heritage. Many worlds, including Earth, depend on his methods to overcome her stubbornness. Will he persevere? Will she be persuaded? What happens when both answers are yes?
I really enjoyed this story! Smooth-flowing, great story concept, wonderful world and interesting characters. I had a hard time putting it down.
Excuse me…I must go find more books by Maeve Greyson.
*The publisher provided a copy of this book to me for review. Please see disclaimer page on my blog.
Favorite Lines: "Taggert's attitude kept her plenty warm. There wasn't any reason for him to be a jerk. He still owed her explanations. "Well, apparently, you weren't all that wild about kissing me anyway. I don't remember anything about you pushing the advantage."
Taggart rolled his eyes and held up a warning hand. "Oh, no! I am not taking that bait. Many a man down through the centuries has met his downfall by following that line of conversation with a woman."" (p. 96, ARC)
Eternity's Mark is a paranormal romance that mainly takes place in the human world, but at one point shifts to an alternate land where dragons and magic live. It's filled with ancient creatures and evil beings, as well as loveable dragons and a man with a Scottish burr. Taggart is a man's man in search of the guardian who can protect the Scottish castle which is home to a few dragons and a portal to the magical land of Erastaed. As he says:
"I am Taggart de Gaelson, eldest son of the Royal House of Cair Orlandis. I am seven hundred and seventy-seven years old and I come from another reality. I come from Erastaed, from the world on the other side of the portal of Taroc Na Mor, ancestral home to the race of teh sacred Draecna. I am chosen protector from the Guild of Barac'Nairn, watchers over the blessed guardian."--p. 97
Hannah (lucky woman) is the "blessed guardian" Taggart mentions. She is also a widow determined to never love and lose again. With Taggart's help she begins to soften and let the magic of Scotland heal her. Sounds pretty sedate, right? Well, it's not. Once in Scotland things begin to get a little dark. A villain wants the ultimate power and he sees the heroine as his tool to getting it. He will use Taggart's past as a means to grab hold of Taggart's future. He is pure evil. The things he is capable of are shiver worthy.
I was having a good time reading this book up until things began to get dirty and the pacing of the story increased. Toward the end characters begin to die. Characters that I liked. Okay, let me clarify that. Characters who I got to know and laughed at were killed off page and WHAM! I'm told so-and-so is dead. WTF!!! Then the evil villain and his henchman are dealt with in such a mundane manner that I had to re-read it. Seriously? That's all it took to off the big bad of this book? The man who was ultimate darkness was destroyed that easily? Most of this happens in the final chapter, along with a final shock which made me want to throw my book across the room. I'm dying to tell you what, but it'd ruin the story for you.
My enjoyment of Eternity's Mark nosedived as matters were cleanly and simply resolved. I felt like the author decided it was time to end the book, took a look at all the open plot lines and said "I'm done" and chopped the lifelines of those plots. It was abrupt and jarring. Had matters been handled differently, such as the author showing me characters being killed instead of letting me infer "oh, it's war and people die," I would have enjoyed the book more. The final page and a half left me in incredulity, and not in a good way.
While three fourths of Eternity's Mark was excellent and exciting, the ending felt forced and put a damper on my enjoyment of the story. The hard work Greyson invested in making me get to know and care for characters evaporated with the forced conclusion of the book. Instead of being happy and content when I finished reading the book I was angry with the author for introducing me to vivid characters only to dispose of them in such an arbitrary fashion. Scooper Speaks
Eternity's Mark is a standalone novel. This was an excellent read. Maeve Greyson knows exactly how to draw her readers into the story and keep them interested in the story that is going on the pages of the novel. Eternity's Mark is the story of Hannah MacPherson and Taggart de Gaelson. Hannah is a widow and a veterinarian and Taggart is the protector of the Draecna and Taroc Na Mor. Taggart has been looking for Hannah for a very long time. Taggart knows that Hannah is the last of her bloodline and the last known Guardian. Hannah realized when she was younger that she was different from the other children but kept her ability to herself. Taggart has gone to convince Hannah to come back to Taroc Na Mor. Hannah gives Taggart some resistance in going to Taroc Na Mor. She is hard headed and strong willed. But she finally gives into Taggart and goes to Taroc Na Mor to see it for herself. Once she arrives she learns more about her family and where her ability comes from. To find out what happens in Eternity's Mark go grab your copy of the novel. I give Eternity's Mark 5 stars and would recommend this novel to anyone who loves paranormal romances. Maeve Greyson's Eternity's Mark is one that I would reread again and again. It is truly a enjoyable read.
~*~*~*~ Maeve Greyson's newest release, Eternity's Mark, combines the fantasy world of dragons—excuse me, Draecna—and the wild beauty of Scotland, creating a unique story, and one that will please many!
I was intrigued by the story, the fantasy world created and the Draecnas. However, the book ended up as a bit of a disappointment for me.
The story was not evenly paced. The time-line was a bit hard for me to follow at times, and while the first few chapters did a fair job at starting the story out, by the end it felt rushed, with pieces missing. Still, the premise behind Eternity's Mark was good, and I only wish there had been more to it, as it left me wanting.
The romance, however, was the biggest disappointment. I just didn't see the connection between Hannah and Taggart. The love was too quick to build, and wasn't based on much (that I could see). I wanted to see their relationship develop, not just the one-time lovin' and then they were mated for life. The connection just seemed forced, and also left me wanting.
3.5 STARS! Eternity's Mark had a lot of promise, and I loved reading about this new “dragon” fantasy world, but overall I felt that things were simply missing from the story. While I still liked it, it did lower my rating. I will still be looking for future books by Greyson. I will also recommend Eternity's Mark to other readers who may enjoy this fantasy novel with a slight Scottish flair!
Eternity's Mark attempts to combine romance and fantasy. And fails at both. Fantasy is about world building, which Greyson did not do. Romance is about relationships, which is also very weak. The female protagonist is supposed to be somewhat fierce but is bland. The male protagonist is long-lived yet lacks any wisdom or relationship skills. Also, time is horribly spanned. Everything's in threes (three months, three days, etc). And even if she has three months in this new life, she still doesn't know anything! Not only that, but the story doesn't carry itself well over the time span suggested. And, there's really no chemistry between the two protagonists to top it off.
I know, with a cover like that I shouldn't have expected much. This is a bad representation of two genres that could work well together.
Hannah McPherson and Taggart De Gaelson have no idea what journey awaits them. Hannah widowed young and having gifts (as did her mother and grandmother) meets Taggert. Let the fireworks begin as Taggart tries to convince her to travel to Scotland to claim land she has inherited. This is a story with many stories entwined together to create a Fantasy. This is the first time I have ever read fantasy and I really liked it. Thank you Maeve Greyson. Sorry but I do not give spoilers but i will say it was a fun book to read!!!!
There were a few parts that made me go huh? Like the fart joke? I didn't overly enjoy the Scottish accent, but I never enjoyed seeing it written. The idea and concept behind the story was good. I didn't really buy the characters though.
Gripping fantasy with paranormal shape shifters and an epic tale the battle of Good vs. Evil. Marvelous story. Can't wait to read more stories by Maeve Grayson on Kindle Unlimited or outright purchase.
Good characters and story line. Plot very interesting Would recommend looking forward to more in this series. Characters seem to be able to go forward to other adventures
