I quite liked this. The art style reminded me a bit of early Robert Crumb, Junji Ito and Daniel Clowes, but it is very much its own thing with most of the character being infanticized in appearance. The humour is way off the wall, reminded me a lot of the work of Suehiro Maruo as well as the Garbage Pail Kids.
I think it will alienate a lot of people, but I'm a fan of transgressive fiction. It still makes for uneasy reading though.
My three issues of Renee French's comic 'Grit Bath' are some of the few books destroyed by the Federal Levee Failure that I still pine for. French's perverse, malevolent, and creepy portrayal of childhood and the adult world is just amazing. Not for the squeamish or the prudish!
