I was elated and excited when I was given an ARC of this book from none other than the amazing author herself. I have eagerly awaited and anticipated its release, so to be given an opportunity to read it before everyone else was an honour and I am truly grateful. With that said, I really cannot say enough about this book. Fantastical, lyrical, mesmerising, captivating, engrossing, amazing and undeniably whimsical. These are just the few words that come to mind when I think of this book. It reads like a fairytale and I was suddenly taken aback to my youth reading magical stories like The Princess Bride. I became enchanted and felt like I was there within the forests, among the Fae and harnessing my skills. I was firing a arrow out of a bow, wielding a sword against a troll, throwing daggers at the evil Raynor Bird and harnessing the elements against my enemy, Maligo. All while tattoos creeped their way down my arms as I grew stronger in my powers. I love when stories make you feel like you are part of the book!

The story is about a faery Princess named Alannah, who is feisty and stubborn as hell. Unlike other fae she has yet to harness her power. A power that is so great and unyielding even her biggest enemy of her people will do anything to obtain. However, Alannah is not your typical damsel in distress. She can hold her own and when she is kidnapped she proves herself capable. She rescues herself from prison and escapes with the help of Brennus a Warrior Fae. He has more markings on his body then any before him, which proves he has great power and is well trained. Ah Brennus. What can I say about him....I can say that he is strong, determined, handsome and oh so sexy as hell. But he is also arrogant and has a quick wit that makes him utterly irresistible and very charming. Oh my *flustered just thinking of him with his tattoos and big sword* he is very swoon worthy that's for damn sure! Together they must travel terrains, delve deep into the forrest, fight the many enemies they encounter along the way, in order to find the Elder Faeries, who will help Alannah learn and control her power.

Mark of the Princess was an adventure that I really enjoyed going on. It was full of fast paced action and had a touch of romance, which will make you blush. The tender moments that Alannah and Brennus share are so magical and enchanting it really leaves you wanting more and just when you think things are going the way you want them to BAM out of nowhere B.C. Morin leaves you with that ending...NOW how the hell am I supposed to live with that cliffhanger. Seriously B.C!!! LOL I guess I've got to wait for BOOK 2!!! Bravo B.C. Morin for enchanting me with a beautiful fairytale :)

OKAY, I finally have come up with words to form this review. But before I do, let me please start off by saying this. Barbie and I have become such good friends before I even read her book. She is an amazing person inside and out. I saw her writing skills before purchasing her book(she can write an ending to any book and make it better than how it was originally written) and all I could say was "DAMN THIS GIRL HAS GOT SOME MAD SKILLS"!!! I was mesmerized from the start and quite intimidated might I add. I'm also a writer and when she read my first book(part of it anyway) I felt that I couldn't compete with her awesomeness. But then she told me she loved it and couldn't wait for more and that when we became famous and our books made it big, she wanted to do a book tour with me. I was floored and honored at the request. She is truly a beautiful person on so many levels and I have been blessed to have been graced with her awesome friendship. I am looking forward to many years of friendship and hope to one day tour with her like we talked about!

Okay, so she was kind enough to send me a signed copy and an awesome bookmark that I used during my adventures with these great characters. OMG, I can not begin to tell you how much I loved this book. The ending really had me going "OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" I loved this book so much! I was captivated by this magical Fae world that Barbie created for us! I really did not want it to end. Although, it took me a little longer to finish than normally because there were things that went on and kept me from reading but I took this book everywhere and caught bits and pieces every chance I got. I took it with me several times to the park while my kids played, which was perfect cause it created the perfect scenery for what was going on in the story at the time so I felt like I was actually there in the story.

SYNOPSIS:

Alannah is a Fae princess of the kingdom of Meira. She's got a mark on her back which is significant to her powers that start to develop and she becomes more powerful. She is not good at controlling them yet. But she gets kidnapped by Maligo, an evil sorceror. He wants to use her to fight in a battle since her powers are so strong. Tristan and Kaleb are Faeries and Kaleb is the Prince of the kingdom of Talom. Evyette is Alannah's adopted sister. When Alannah gets kidnapped, they embark on a rescue mission to save her from Maligo and his army of trolls and bad guys.
While Alannah is locked up in a cell, alone and helpless....she gets rescued by the sexy Brennus. He's a warrior Faerie. And he is yummy. So while they escape, they run into Tristan, Kaleb and Evyette....and trouble. They fight a bunch of Fae hating trolls, rogue faeries and other creatures. As they try to get away without alot of problems, Evyette gets badly hurt. She almost dies, but not before Brennus takes her to the kingdom of the Magi who have the power to heal her. So they all go there where things get more complicated. In the mean time, Alannah has to work with the elder faeries to learn to control her powers. The adventures continue and there's never a dull moment in this action packed book filled with magic, love, and fun.

PLOT:
I loved the storyline. I haven't read many books in the Fae world and it was a great break from the typical vampire/werewolf/angel series. This was a wonderful adventure that I felt like I was there the whole time watching with my own eyes. Barbie has a way of creating a world that seems so real, you start to wonder what is and what isn't. It was a pleasure reading this story and the characters were all so amazingly described and well developed.

CHARACTERS:

OMG, I loved all of the characters. It's hard to distinguish a favorite because they are all so awesome!!!

Alannah, the princess. She is one of my favorite heroines. She's brave, strong and a kick ass chick. I loved all of her scenes and felt she was so real. She was a powerful fighter and I know once all of her powers come in, she'll be stronger than ever!

Kaleb. Oh what do I say about him? I loved him since the beginning. He was a great guy and I felt he was perfect for her. He would do just about anything for Alannah. The love he had for her was so sweet. I really loved him....

BUT....

Brennus is the real true mate for Alannah. I fell for him at the start too. He was brave and put his own life in danger at any cost to save Alannah's. He's amazing. Their relationship blossoms and then.....and then....OMG I will not continue that. Let's just say the ending had me saying "OMG NOOOOOOOOOO"!

Tristan. Oh my sweet Tristan. I don't know what to say about him. He's amazing! I really almost fell for him more than I did for Brennus. He's Kaleb's best friend. He was always by his side, helping him out and fighting with him. Ready to take on any dangers lurking around and he had no complaints. I'd almost dare to say that he was my favorite character. He also loved Evyette. He protected her as well. It was genuine, sweet emotions that I felt between the two of them. I was happy when they were together. And sad for him when Evy got hurt. I felt his pain he suffered during that time. Call me crazy, but I think they're love is almost more real than Alannah's an d Brennus....almost. So don't kill me.

Evyette. I liked her character development. She was described so well. She was a great sister to Alannah. She was adopted by Alannah's parents as a young baby. But they grew up together and really had a close relationship. It shows that blood isn't what always makes a family. It's the bond and connection and love. They have all of that. She could have stayed behind, allowing Tristan and Kaleb to go search for Alannah after she was kidnapped. But she wouldn't have that. She went along with them even when she knew there would be dangers. I admire her for that. Great sister.

The rest of the characters were done brilliantly as well. I loved the Queens and Kings of the kingdoms. Alannah and Kaleb's parents...they played big roles in this and I can't wait to see more of them in the next books. Each of the characters made an impact on me and even the bad and evil guys have a place in my heart. That's how well Barbie created them. It's not often that I love the majority of the characters in the book I read. There are characters I can relate to and those that are just...eh okay. That is definitely not the case here. I love them all and can't wait to share more adventures with them.

WRITING STYLE:

Like I said before, the writing style is mesmerizing and captivatin from the first page. I loved the magical world we got to live in. It was fascinating and very easy to follow. I loved the names she came up with for her characters. They are creative and unique. I mean geez this girl has the whole package. First it's the plot that grabs you and holds on til the last page....then the names of all the characters, that alone is intriguing. Also the names of each kingdom is ridiculously charming. Barbie is just an all around awesome person in every way imaginable. I can't wait to see what's in store for the characters in the next book. And I'm hoping I can somehow get my hands on it before it comes out so I can review it. Ahem. *hint hint*

Anyway, so to sum up this review.....THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING A FAIRYTALE SHOULD BE AND MORE. I didn't want it to end. Now I miss them, but at least I have the book so I can re read it before the next one comes out! GREAT JOB BARBIE!!!! YOU ROCK MY SOCKS OFF! :) <3

Mark of the Princess is a whimsical fairy tale that reaches out and sucks you in to the enchanting world full of princes, faerie princesses, magic, trolls and other creatures.

The story follows Princess Alannah, a feisty faerie destined to wield mysterious powers but has not learnt how to harness them yet. She’s accompanied by her supportive, demure sister Eveyette, but soon the two bump into two Princes who will change the courses of their lives forever, Tristan and Kaleb. Alannah is a target of the forces of evil, and she is soon captured and the rest of the party embark on a journey to rescue her.

Little do they know, that Alannah escapes prison with the help of Brennus, an arrogant, egotistical warrior faerie. With the vivid imagery painted by B.C. Morin, we’re taken away to a far away land.

Despite a slow start, I was pleasantly surprised when I couldn’t put the book down through the bulk of the story. The perspectives interweave between most of the main characters, we’re shown an intricate picture of each of the characters and their motives, including Maligo, the evil sorcerer. The plot moves quickly, taking us through different forests, each with a different foe, including shape shifters, trolls and rogue faeries.

While the strength of the book is definitely the elegant yet intricate way the plot has been laid out in front of us, and the rich descriptions of the fantasy world, there were a few things that kept it from being a full 5 stars for me. Some sentences didn’t flow very well and took a bit longer to read than necessary, and this was somewhat distracting. The ending was also unsatisfying and lack lustre, following the magic of the journey within its middle pages.

All in all, I really enjoyed Mark of the Princess and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good fairy tale. I look forward to reading the sequel.

I loved this book. It really makes you feel what the character is feeling and doing it really is like you are living the book...Alannah the princess is strong and fiesty and also very powerful but does still not know how to control it, after she gets kidnapped she meet the handsome and sexy Brennus who is covered in tattoos which means he is of great power and very well trained..together they travel to find the elder faries who will help Alannah control her powers.. Feeled with action with just the right touch of romance. Prepare for an adventure. It was written perfectly i cant wait for the next one!!

Oh, boy, so I'm still trying to calm down from the shocking ending to this as I'm writing! I flew through this book, there was so much action, suspense, romance...all of the things I love about fantasy stories!! I'm pretty sure this is the first series about faeries that I've ever read, or the others just weren't memorable! Morin created a beautiful world with beautiful characters, and I loved getting sucked into it...

First off, I loved Alannah! I hate weak heroines, and she anything but; a bit naive to her world, but strong and brave despite her lack of knowledge. I can't wait to see her grow into her powers, because I have a feeling it will be amazing to see her once she harnesses all that she's capable of!! I was also pretty smitten by Kaleb from the start, I must admit; that spark at first sight is always so exciting, and I loved how he was so desperate to see Alannah again. But when Alannah finds herself suddenly in danger and desperate to escape the clutches of the evil Maligo, she happens upon the sexy and strong warrior faerie Brennus, and boy does he shake things up!! (Including for me, because I am now absolutely 'Team Brennus'!!) Alannah isn't sure what to make of him, yet she feels drawn to him in some way she can't resist. He's the flame and she's the moth, and boy do the fireworks go off when they collide!! Brennus is very protective of Alannah, and it becomes clear that their feelings for each other are becoming more and more meaningful.

There was so much action throughout a huge portion of this story!! Kaleb, Tristan, and Alannah's sister Evyette travel to rescue Alannah and face danger at every corner, and the fight scenes were written with so much detail it was like seeing it through their eyes. As Brennus and Alannah make their escape from the mountains, they too meet up with rogue faeries, trolls, and other malevolent creatures that try to stop them from making it to safety. Along the way, Alannah's powers begin to reveal themselves, and she learns that she is far more powerful than she ever knew. The unique mark she wears means that she will be a key figure in the future of the fae world, but she has to first learn to control her powers with the help of the Elder Faeries. I'm excited to see Alannah train and learn to use them, she's going to be truly bad-ass as this series continues!!

I really loved the fae world that Morin created for this series; it was beautifully described and I really felt like I was right there with the characters. I loved the concept of the markings growing as the fae used their powers, too. The picture on the front of Princess caught my eye when I first saw it, and now that I know what the markings are for I think it's even more beautiful!

And I can't finish off my review without mentioning the ending...oh, my lord, my heart just skipped a thousand beats and now I'll have to wait while I torture myself with the possibilities!! I feel so heartbroken for Alannah, and I am so anxious to see what all this will mean for her future. Can't wait for the sequel!!

Wow, this was a ride, that is for sure! I have not read many fairy books, so this was a kind of introduction for me and it was well worth the read. BC Morin has created a world that sucks you in and takes you on a ride! The story and characters were mesmerizing. The backdrop was beautiful. The plot was intense..
First I need to talk about the cover. WOW! I just love this cover. So much that, not only did I buy the ebook, but I ordered the print version from BC because I just had to have a copy of this beauty in my collection. The colors are so great, they really appeal to the eye. And, once you read the story, you totally understand what the cover means.
Next, the characters. I love them all. Alannah, with her feistiness and strong will. She is brave and knows what she wants. Eveyette with her tenderness and love. She is a loyal sister who will stand by Alannah's side no matter what. Kaleb with his good looks and totally honesty. He is just such a wonderful male character. He falls hard for Alannah and doesn't hide it. He's perfect for her. Tristan is funny and loyal, sweet and a bit naive. Brennus, well, RAWR, he's just the irresistible male character: egotistical, arrogant and all knowing. But he still has that tender, soft spot that makes you fall for him. And Milago, well, he's just pure evil. At least it seems that way, until the end when I'm not sure if he really realizes where it is he actually comes from. The rest of the characters are well laid out. There are a lot of them, so I had a little trouble keeping them straight at first, but eventually it all clicked for me!
Finally, the plot, it's just, well, terrific. I love the idea that the princess has a mark she knows nothing about. And that she is coming into her powers. And while coping with this, she has to worry about the evil wanting her, although she does not know why.
BC Morin weaves an epic tale of loyalty, betrayal, fantasy and amazing background to keep you immersed in a story that will take you on an amazing ride you never thought possible. There's romance and action, there's lies and deceit, there's fantasy, suspense and drama.
I am highly anticipating the sequel to this book. I can't wait to see where this epic tale will go!

This book was totally enchanting, the plot fantastical and the characters bewitching. Sometimes I used to get so enthralled reading it that I felt like I was part of the plot. I love when stories make you feel like you are part of the book!

This story is about a faerie princess, Alannah. She is born with a very rare and very special power, a power that she is yet to harness. This makes her a target of the evil fae Maligo, who would stop at nothing to acquire her and use her powers for his own malicious intents. He plots to kidnap her and succeeds. However, Alannah is not your typical damsel in distress. She is strong, feisty and rescues herself from prison and escapes with the help of a fellow prisoner, Brennus a Warrior Fae. Thus starts her quest to uncover the true potential of her powers.

Brennus- He is a fellow prisoner whom Alannah helps when she is escaping from the clutches of Maligo. He comes off as a very strong character from the very beginning. He has more powers than anyone before him had in a century. He is determined, handsome and sexy. In short, he’s totally swoon worthy. He is an important ally of Alannah in her journey, who goes on to become her lover.

What made this book special, was the author’s ability to narrate the sub plots with intricate detail. The love triangle between Alannah, Brennus and Prince Kaleb was the highlight of the book. The sub-plot of Alannah’s adopted sister, Princess Evyette was very captivating. Evyette and Tristan’s love and their quest to unravel the truth of Evyette’s past was entertaining.

B.C. Morin writes a captivating story that keeps your imagination and just like you are in the story. I applaud her writing style I so highly recommend this book. This is a must read.

This novel has strong characters, the detail is so great you can see the fae markings, the lands they travel in, and the creatures they come across. With complex personalities you have to really get to know the characters and get the chance every sentence that you read. With love triangles. adventure, magic, and so much more, you will not want to put this book down and when it ends you want to call the author herself and ask her to finish writing the next one so you can read it asap! The beautiful and free-spirited Princess Alannah gets captured by an evil sorcerer. With help from Alannah's sister and his best friend, Prince Kaleb sets out with them to find her and bring her back. Little did they know she might not need saving when she meets the handsome warrior who was also captured. Together they make an escape and begin traveling together. Before her capture she had grown feels for Kaleb, but now she is getting to know Brennus, the warrior fae, and she is struggling through an internal conflict to understand her own feelings. Read this amazing story, find out if you are Team Kaleb or Team Brennus, go on an adventure to meet dragons, goblins, soul hunters, and so much more.

This was an amazing book. I'm not sure where to start! Well first off, the characters were well developed as was the story and plot itself. It was a riveting struggle between good and evil. You have Alannah, this stunning princess of the Kingdom of Meira. She's living her like without a care in the world. She wants to be free to roam and do as she please but her father is restraining because he fears for her life. Once she goes missing, the Kingdom of Meira as well as the surrounding kingdoms go into a frenzy as they find that the princess has gone missing. She was taken away by the enemy, Maligo. One that has been around even before the day this dear princess was born. It was destined to happen. As her dear sister Evyette, Kaleb (The Prince of Talom), and his best friend Tristan go out through treacherous woods and face many enemies just to find the princess, she is finding her own ways of escaping. This book is an absolute joy to read! It's a great page turner with new surprises around every corner. Everyone should get this book when it is available Feb. 2012 for e-readers. Definitely 5 star worthy!

I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK. The story is so engrossing that I found myself completely sucked in right from the part where Alannah was kidnapped until the very end. Here, the story is not just focused on one charater but almost to every onbe of them including the villains, which I liked so much. I really loved all the characters because they're so unique on their own ways. Alannah, who was naive at first found herself grown into a mature woman as the story progressed. Evy, also proved herself brave like by saving Tristan from the troll. Kaleb and Tristan, LOVED their friendship. They made me miss Puck and Ash. Sigh. Oh, and of course, BRENNUS. What can I say? Arrogant and hot. He quickly climbed up to my top ten book boyfriends. HA! The ending, though makes me sad for both Alannah and Brennus. Stupid dying wish. All in all, fantastic book. Everyone should check it out.

Princess Allanah is a fairy teenager who has a knack for getting into trouble, which endears her to readers almost immediately. As she escapes one day to simply be alone she finds herself literally running smack dab into another fairy. Little does she know that he is Prince Kaleb from another kingdom and their lives are soon to be intertwined more than she could have ever imagined. As she is going back to the palace she is nearly kidnapped by a servant of Maligo (an evil fairy that has been stripped of all of his natural powers). Fortunately, he doesn’t succeed just yet.

As all teenagers are, Allanah is extremely impatient; she constantly wants to know when she will receive her “powers.” One of the things I liked about this book is that all fairies have tattoos that show their lineage, particular power, and as they grow stronger with their powers the tattoos expand. Allanah has been gifted with the ability to do magic, however she has never had the patience to actually dedicate herself to the study of potions and spellcasting. She wants her “real power.” For example; her mother can control the weather, her adopted sister Evyette can turn invisible, and Kaleb can see things miles away and control the wind. Interestingly enough, it is never mentioned what type of power her father the King has.

What really has peaked Allanah’s interest and the reader’s is what the tattoo on her back represents. It’s revealed in the book, and NO I’m not going to tell you. You’ll have to read it for yourself, but trust me it’s worth it. Why else is an evil fairy trying to capture her?!

When Allanah is kidnapped Evyette, Kaleb, and his best friend Tristan set off to save her. However, Allanah is pretty good at saving herself-which is one of the reasons I liked her so much. While being held captive she stumbles across Brennus, a warrior fairy. Snarky, smug, yet compassionate and caring he helps Allanah and thus a love triangle is born. Come on people, you know no YA book is complete without one!! But Allanah is smart, and is focused on controlling her powers and focusing on her magic not boys (well at least not too much)! After Allanah realizes how much is at stake she dedicates herself to training and learning how to control all of her various powers (and I don’t think she nor the reader has any idea just how many “powers” she truly possesses).

One of the things that BC excels at is creating a world that you want to immerse yourself in. For example, in addition to the 5 kingdoms there are also spirit fairies, warrior fairies, magical fairies, etc. Each of these very rare types of fairies has their own training and I would assume kingdom or tribe. This is mentioned very briefly, but makes me wonder how it might tie into the story. While nothing more is mentioned regarding these powerful and rare type of fairies, I do think BC brought it into the story for a reason, but that’s just a guess on my part.

The story switches between POVs of Allanah, Evyette, Kaleb, and even Maligo. This allows the story to develop even more thoroughly, and believe me there are some big twists in the book. I loved learning more of Brennus & Evy’s background.

I thought the pace of the book was very good, and the cliffhanger was not so intense that I was going to die until I could read the next one. It was just right to keep the reader engaged without making you feel as if you had literally just jumped off the cliff!

Great job BC on creating characters that show growth, humor, and bravery. The world felt so real, that I didn’t want to leave and each character started to feel like a friend. I can’t wait to read the next one!

I wish we could give 1/2 stars, this definitely deserves. 4.5 stars. If you enjoy magic, fairies,and adventure this is the book for you!

Wow. I really, really, enjoyed this book. I’ve been reading bunches of dystopia lately, so it was great to read some pure, unadulterated fantasy. The characters were great, the plot was awesome, and the romance just got better as it progressed. There were a few issues here and there, but hey, when it’s good, it’s good.

The Plot:

Now this was unusual in a number of ways. So we’ve got the fierce Princess Alannah, who hates being cooped up and is constantly trying to avoid her bodyguards; her adopted, lovable sister, Evyette, who is shrouded in mysteries from her past; a prince, Kaleb, in love with Alannah who reciprocates his love…for a while; Tristan, his best friend, an adorable jokester you can’t help but love; and Brennus, the dark mysterious fae who helped Alannah, and who can’t possibly have feelings for her could he? Add in an evil fae, Maligo, intent on getting revenge on the faeries who shunned him by releasing a demon army the story is just getting started. It’s complicated, but at the same time absurdly simple.

The Characters:

It’s hard to say if they were unbelievably fascinating, but they were incredibly enjoyable to read about. Each one was special in their own way, and each was equally lovable. Alannah is so independent, Evyette is so sweet and good, Kaleb is so protective and caring, Tristan is so amusing and also protective (of Evyette), and Brennus….Brennus is just Brennus. He is the epitome of dark, tall, and handsome. Can’t help but love each of them. I just wish there had been a little more on Maligo. Just a wee bit. I like to love and hate the villains at the same time, and in this….I did neither. He was just the bad guy, and for me he came off a little flat. Just a guy with a crow intent on ruining the world (haha).

The Romance:

This was one aspect I couldn’t let go of the book for. I’ll start with Evyette and Tristan because that’s easier. They were just so adorable! My goodness, every time they were even near each other made me smile like a crazy person. It was just so cute and innocent. Truly. Then with Alannah there was a whole trianglish thing going on, but well, we all know who she truly belongs with (*cough, cough, Brennus*). Kaleb was cute when it came to Alannah, and even I got jealous when Alessa came into the picture, but it’s really too bad because she belongs with Brennus, who can’t help but be spicy. Now I just wish Alannah can get a move on and figure it out. I hate the undecisive love triangles.

The Style:

I had problems here. I know it’s a self-published book, and so it can’t be held up to the highest standards, but the writing was just a little choppy. It sounded like incredibly formal, like Kings and Queens with a stilted speech pattern, one second, and the next it sounds like a teenager in the 21st century going “whatever” and “alright”. It was a little strange. I do wish the dialogue had been better. It was definitely negated by the plot and characters though.

Overall:

Huge fun to read. Pure fantasy fun, with entertaining, enchanting characters, lots of romance, and adventure. It leaves you wanting more, and to read more of Alannah’s story, and so I do recommend.

In summary:

Alannah is a faeries princess of Meira. Every fearie got a mark tells them what their special power would be, but Alannah doesn’t know what her power is, nobody does. One day she meets a prince called Kaleb. He likes her, and she feels the same. Then they meet again, discovering that both of them are princes.

Alannah gets kidnapped by a sorcerer called maligo. He is determent to raise an evil army against the faerie people, by awaking the evil soul of Samil -an evil strong faerie-. He was the only one who knows what the mark of the princess mean. She offers a deal on a troll, she runs, meets another prisoner and saves his life.

Brennus a strong- arrogant- with a lot of sharp marks- warrior faerie saves her life, taking her across the forest, while Kaleb, evyette -her adopted sister -and Tristan the prince’s friend were looking out for her. One night she was lying, eyes close, Brennus fingers her mark knowing what it is. This is the point where Alannah felt him and started to have feelings for him.

Kaleb and his party face dangers. evyette got attacked by the spirits and Tristan who saves her life along with Kaleb falls in love with her, as she does the same. Alannah and Brennus crash into them after a long journey they had too. They get attack by the evil apprentice of the sorcerer maligo. evyette gets injured, Brennus holds her running to another kingdom “Magi” where they save her life, but she falls into a coma. They arrives, discovering new information about the mark of the princess “appears every thousand years, and capable of controlling the elements” and about her adopted sister’s evil dark mark too. Alannah has confused feelings about the prince and Brennus especially after their first kiss.

When the sister awakes, Alannah goes with Brennus to his kingdom in order to have her training. Alannah gets attacked by the leader of the Satyrs, he cut her throat, but Brennus always saves her. Arriving to Anrad, she discovers that he is not only a commander warrior but a prince, a prince whose father on the average of death. A father who already choose the faerie warrior his son suppose to marry and it breaks her, and my heart. WHAT???

I NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED TO READ THE SECOND PART NOW..

Goblins, demon wolfs, spirits, satyrs, magic, faeries, mermaids, princess, evil, kingdoms, Love, and romance.


My favorite is the price warrior, like tragic heroes, strong, harsh, arrogant, cheeky, witty, he is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing…


The descriptions of the places, and the characters “kings” are well done. I engaged easily in the atmosphere of the novel.


My three favorite scenes in the novel are:

1/ Alannah’s and Brennus’s kiss.

2/ the mermaids’ scene… it was amazing …

3/ the last kiss between Alannah and Brennus again. SORRY Kaleb, but Brennus is my type.

My heart bounded many times, fear, love, passion all crept into me.

The cover is lovely. I love it.

The idea, this whole created world, it is impressive. I’ve always been into the princess’ stories, but this one is great, I can’t wait to start reading the second part.

Mark of the Princess was a book that I requested to read and review basically because I wanted to find a fae book that I truly enjoyed. This book was very slow to start and it was hard for me to continue reading. I guess mainly because the writing style was a style I wasn’t used to reading. It was written as a narrative rather than a POV, which is more of what I enjoy. As for character development, it was so so. Brennus, whom you meet half way, is my favorite. Smart, cocky, funny, arrogant with a soft side…yes please! Anyways, enough of my chitter chatter.

We start off with Alannah running smack dab into a male fae’s chest in the woods, who is this fae you may ask…well read and you’ll find out :O Soon these fae become smitten with each other and begin spending quite a bit of time together, that is until *gasp* Alannah was kidnapped by the evil Maligo!

While kidnapped, she finds a confidante in a troll that’s supposed to be guarding her and he helps bring her some potions to help her escape. Her marks begin to grow as she learns more. She finds Brennus *drools* and helps him out of his predicament. They escape together, no big.

Meanwhile, Kaleb, Evyette and Tristan, You’ll find out who these Fae are when you read this book *winks*, are on their way to save Alannah and run into some mischief of their own throughout their journey. Eventually, of course, the two groups run into each other.

The kingdoms are trying to figure out what Maligo’s plan really is. What did he want with Alannah, Brennus knows it has something to do with her tattoo. Maligo’s apprentice ends up going rogue on him and goes after the group of young fae on his own. During the fight, Evy gets severely wounded and Brennus runs her to the nearest kingdom, Kingdom of Magi.

From there, it’s a lot of girly, I like him, but I like him, but I need to focus on my powers. Alannah makes the decision, along with her parents, to travel to the kingdom of Anrad with Brennus to learn how to control her powers now that they have begun to come in. Once there she finds a big secret Brennus had been keeping from her *oh my*

While this wasn’t exactly my kind of story, I do wonder what happens next. Mere curiosity more than anything, though, I do wanna find out more of Brennus’ story. Evy’s another one that I’d love to find out about. Something magic happens there too, but you’ll have to find out on your own. Honestly, if you like Fae books, you may love this one! If you’re kinda iffy like me..It’ll be ok or you’ll like it. If you hate fae books, don’t even bother. However, give it a try, you may surprise yourself.

Let me just start off by saying that I love faeries. They're one of my favorite paranormal figures out there and I would never, ever get tired of them. I also associate them with elves, and they're often the characters I pick in fantasy-themed MMOs. Knowing the nature of this book was about a work of faeries and powers and good vs. evil, I was looking forward to reading it a lot. However, it kinda fell short...

There's nothing wrong with the story per se. The premise, while predictable and maybe common, was still something one would find joy to read. Let me just say the writing disappointed me and it made it hard for me to consume the novel. Dialogues were thrown left and right without any substantial narration, making conversations awkward and a little too fast. As an example, this guy named Velius was invited to dinner in Kaleb's kingdom, he asks a few questions, the King gets angry, he leaves, Kaleb says something, and everyone is happy again.

"Why are you asking such atrocious questions!"
"Oh, I'm sorry, I did not mean to offend, I'll be on my way now..."
"What do you think of him, Kaleb?"
"I know that he is not what he seems."
"Right! A toast to the future king!"

That's non-verbatim, by the way, but it kinda went like that... except that all that tension, the escalation of feelings and chain of events happened in one page. Huh. When I read a story, I look forward to the narration first and foremost because that's the only way for me to get to know and become invested in a character. Suffice to say, while the characters seemed interesting, they felt dull and awkward to me due to the lack of descriptions, lack of background stories, lack of narrative... because of this, it took me quite a while to finish it because I would pause and would rather read another book. I also had an issue that there were few "problems" in this book. You have a one big evil Maligo, and the rest are happy, good elves. No political dilemmas, either, which would have been perfect in a fantasy setting with 5 kingdoms. :/ Everyone accepted each other, everyone loves each other... mmm.

This is not to say the book is all that bad. It is. It's a good story, but it just didn't work out for me, because I look for elements that I feel are standard in a fantasy novel but they unfortunately were not there. If you look around, you'll see a lot of glowing reviews, and that's proof that there are others who enjoy it. The writing also just didn't feel right to me that made me shy away.

Hello y'all Anne here with my review for The Kingdom Chronicles: Mark Of The Princess, this was an amazing book to read. B.C. Morin has the kind of imagination that takes you away to a land of 5 kingdoms all full to the brim with Faeries. Each forest has its own special breed of fae unique to its particular needs and the author holds back no detail in showing each and every race and their special powers. I loved that the fae are born bearing marks that tell them the potential they will carry and how special each is to the kingdom. The princess is a fitful girl who only wants to see the kingdom and spread her wings, thus getting herself into a heap of trouble with her very protective father!! Alannah is a beautiful character who is rebellious yet loving and she is curious almost to a fault much like a real girl her age. Then enter her sister Evyette who is more down to earth and responsible but never the less she loves her sister and supports her free spirit. The two girls were so much fun to read about and be able to read along in their growing and maturing as they embark on a journey that will forever change the Kingdoms.
To counter the lovely girls we have been given the gift of three male leads that are not lacking in their protective, warrior, hero roles. Kaleb, Tristan, and Brennus grace the pages with their personalities and wit. They are all beautifully written, one not being better than the other each is vitally important to the progression to this amazing tale. Brennus is a clever and witty warrior fae who shields his heart and brandishes his tongue at every opportunity. Kaleb the dashing and kind prince is charming and gallant toward Allanah. While the soft spoken Tristan is wise yet daring in his strive for adventure and is taken a back by his growing affection for a certain fae princess.
This story is amazing and beautiful, I never wanted for detail. From the rooms of the palaces to the corsets on the gorgeous dresses the girls wear it was all laid out for my imagination to build a remarkable vision. I wanted to see the views and smell the jasmine. I loved how every scene is above and beyond my dreams and yet so grounded to read!! I couldn't ask for any changes because this book is great just as it is. I am eagerly awaiting book 2 and can't wait to go back to Meira with the Fae and their adventures. Be ready for suspense, twists, love, and danger it's all here in The Kingdom Chronicles: Mark Of The Princess by B.C. Morin. 5 out of 5 stars for the amazing Fae story and anxiously awaiting more..

First of all I want to thank B.C. for sending us this book to read and review. This story had a lot of things that I enjoyed and some things that I didn't. First off, I am not a huge fan of love triangles. I didn't know there was one in this book, but as soon as we were introduced to Brennus, I knew right away there was going to be conflict. Let me just say though, I am full on Team Brennus. Nothing against Kaleb, but Brennus is just sexy! Just his personality alone makes him sexy. Okay so aside from the love triangle, for me the beginning of this book was a bit slow. Nothing bad, just took awhile to get into some more exciting parts.

Okay, onto the things that I enjoyed. I loved how this story was about Allanah but the story was also about her sister Evyette, and I really enjoyed that because we got to see things from others perspectives and understand what was happen to everyone in the story, not just Allanah and her POV. Primarily the story is about Allanah, but her sisters story doesn't take a back seat and I enjoyed that very much, because I really like both of the sisters. Once you get into the story a bit, it starts to get very exciting and you do not want to stop reading. Things happen to not just Allanah but Evyette too and Kaleb and Tristan. There are many perspectives covered and it helps to give the bigger picture. I also really loved the back story on Samil and The Mallafey's, it really helps you understand the dark history a bit better. When we finally meet Brennus, that is where the story really became interesting for me, he added so much to the story, and I caught y self giggling a few times at his arrogance.

I was a little disappointed by the ending. There was a cliffhanger, obviously, because there was just way too much of the story to tell in just one book, but I felt that is was kind of an uneventful ending. It is a great cliffhanger, and I am DYING to read the next book, I felt like most of the action was in the middle, and it seemed like a bland ending, I gues syou could say. Do not ge tmy wrong, I absolutely loved this book, I am hoping the next one is packed full of action and excitement, and I'm thinking probably some heartache? Whch I'm not looking forward to, but it has to happen with a love triangle!!

I am very excited to see what happens to Allanah, Brennus, Kaleb and Tristan, as well as see what Maligo is up to. Keep up the great work B.C., and I LOVE all the visual she has on her facebook page, be sure to check them out!!

When I first saw the book, I knew I had to have it, or at least read it. I fall in love with the cover and I have to admit, I've never read a fea story before. So when I asked Boss, aka Yiota, she was kind enough to provide a copy for me.

Good things: The story flows. It has rich vocabulary, almost poetic but not difficult at all, it actually reminded me of all the synomys I was learning last year, most of which I've already forgot. The book was balanced. Kissing scenes are passionate, fighting scenes are anxious. The author doesn't stay long in scenes, they are small and with meaning. I liked that there were scenes with concern parents, they looked more real. And I liked all the characters. They weren't spoiled or selfish, even though most of them were royalty. Even the parents, who were supposed to be Kings and Queens were kind and natural.

Bad things: There weren't many bad things. Firstly, there is a love triangle. I think that it was meaningless and that it only adds another problem in Alannah's life. I guess it's understandable, since Alannah's character changes after her abduction comparing to the one she had before. My second problem was that there were not a clear view of the fearies. True, the author gives a very good picture of how the Five Kingdoms rule and what kind of powers each has and she's giving you a historical event at the end of the book that explains a lot, but untill this moment, I have no idea if the fearies' wings look like the ones of a butterfly, a dragon fly, or just a fly.

The end was surprising and it leaves you with many questions, some of which you had at the beggining of the book. I wasn't expecting of Brennus origin at all, and you don't learn much about Alannah's powers or Evyette's past. Actually, the end seemed like the end of an episode in a TV series, and all you have to do is keep patient untill the next week's episode, only here we have a book.

Bottom line, I liked it and enjoyed it. It was easy to read, I mean, I knew who the apprentice was long before it's been told in the book. But I recommend it to you. It loses half point, because of the love triangle, but you don't have to care too much, because there are other more important problems to care about in the book.

I first heard about this book way back before it was published and I lapped up all of the photo teasers that the author would post on her facebook page. The premise of the story really appealed to me but it was the visual teasers that really got me interested.

Mark of the Princess took me a little while to get into. For me, there seemed to be an abundance of characters and the chapters or portions of chapters at the beginning of the book seemed to be quite short. At around the 20% mark it was like a light bulb went off in my head and everything seemed to click into place for me and my slow old brain had managed to work out who everyone was and how they all fit into the story and then I couldn't put it down!!

Faerie Princess Alannah has led a somewhat sheltered life as the result of her parents being quite protective. It's while out one day with her sister, Princess Evyette that Alannah is kidnapped and taken to the incredibly dark and evil Maligo who has learnt of the extraordinary powers that Alannah will one day possess. It's while she is attempting to escape from Maligo's evil clutches that she encounters Brennus who is also being held captive. Together they make attemp to make their way to safety whilst coming under the constant attacks from the evil forces that lurk along the way.

While the main focus of the story is Alannah we get incites into the other characters, Brennus, Evyette, Tristan and Kaleb to name a few, so that by the end of the book you feel that you have a really good understanding of them all. Personally I loved Brennus. He's arrogant, cocky, protective and passionate. And all of those body markings don't hurt with completing the picture either!!

Mark of the Princess is a book filled with a richness of words and magic!! It is a book filled with action, and some romance thrown in to balance it all out. But I have to make mention of that ending!! All I can say is PLEASE don't make me wait too long for the next instalment!! I'm desperate to find out what happens next!!

The two sisters will find out just how different the world is outside their Kingdom and will learn things along the way. When taken captive Alannah saves a warrior faerie named Brennus will they be able to escape? Will she get her powers and find out what the strange marking on her back is? Alannah will have to choose between her feelings for Prince Kaleb and her feeling for Warrior faerie Brennus.Will Princess Evyette find out who she really is and were she's from? All the characters are amazing but I love Princess Alannah, Princess Evyette, Prince Kaleb, Tristan, and Brennus, I just can't choose between then. I can't wait to read the next book. I would definitely recommend this book.

What an amazing faerie story. I have read books about faeries before but in this book I was amazed, on how B.C. Morin was able to weave the plot and make everything come together. With love triangles, adventure, fighting,good faeries, good creatures, evil faeries, evil creatures, good magic, along with evil and dark magic everything came together. B.C. Morin has a wonderful imagination that she was able to weave 5 faerie kingdoms that are all different from one another. Also the cover is done beautifully, wonderful job.

Mark of the Princess will leave you wanting more literally. The characters are very well developed that you actually fall in love with them. There is Princess Alannah of the Kingdom Meria, who wants to be free but her parents want to keep a tight leash on her. Princess Evyette who is Alannah's sister who falls in love with Tristan whose best friend is Prince Kaleb of the Kingdom Talom. There there is Brennus who Alannah meets while captured. Last but not least is the evil faerie Maligo.

Maligo has decided to kidnap Princess Alannah who he has special plans for, which will come into play later on in the story. When Princess Alannah is kidnapped her sister Evyette, Kaleb, and Tristan go through an adventurous journey to get her back, as they are traveling Evyette gets attacked since she is targeted. Not only does Alannah's story come out so does her sister's. During all the adventures and magic being learned and Alannah finally coming into learning her powers, Alannah has fallen in love with Kaleb and Brennus. Who will see end up picking? Alannah is a lot stronger than she thinks, but she has to learn how to get in tune with her magic.

This book is amazing and was and absolute joy to read, I could not put it down. It is a page turner with adventure and surprises around every turn. Perfect for YA and adult alike.

While writing this enchanting tale Morin created an entirely new and extremely vivid world for her characters to live in. This faerie realm is very different from most other depictions of fae. There are some similarities, but Morin has gone out of her way to allow her readers to see her vision of this faerie realm. This extraordinary world combines with the adventure that the characters find themselves on to make you feel like you are immersed in the faerie kingdoms, fighting alongside them.

The characters in this novel are quite well developed, becoming real and jumping off of the page. They are also very fitting to their lives and their roles in the story. The sheltered princess acts and speaks differently from the wayward prince, and everyone is different from the dark sorcerer. Each character is developed individually, which means that there are no stock characters. The speech of the royal characters is also very formal and stilted, a phenomenon that is not seen in those characters who do not boast royal descent. This creates even greater character differentiation.

Of course, what is an adventure where the princess doesn’t fall for the handsome prince? We already have one matched couple, as well as a love triangle. I’ve already found myself hoping that 2 of the characters in the love triangle will end up together, and worrying that it will be the other two. These fae have become part of my life.

I love the way that Morin writes. Her words flow together making a connection with her reader at every turn of the page. Her description of the environment, characters, and events are so real that you want to enter the faerie kingdoms and explore them for yourselves. You have a complete picture in your mind and are seeing the action while reading it.

This book was incredible. It was original, fun, had an engaging plot and deep, fun characters that you could relate to.

The plot was about a princess named Alannah who was born with a strange mark that no one knows who it is. In this book the marks show the powers of the faeries they are on. The ones they have from birth are the powers they are born with and then they can still gain marks by learning a power they were not born with. I thought this concept was new and fun. Her sister Evyette has had one of her marks removed and so no one knows who she is. She was adopted by Alannah's family. Then there is Prince Kaleb and his friend Tristan that join the sister's journey to find out there powers and to get Alannah back who is kidnapped by the bad guy Maligo. Then Brennus comes along he has secrets, he is strong, beautiful, and a total hottie. They find out the plan of the bad guy and all 5 Kingdoms rise to help stop an evil from long ago. This book was so well done I had a problem waiting for the next posting to come so I could read more.

I loved the characters they are deep, they grow and change, and hey were so well written that you can't help but fell sorry for them when they are attacked almost every chapter, or when something bad happens. You laugh with them, cry with them, even blush with them. Morin is very good at writing in believable emotions in the characters they weren't shallow or flat. I really enjoyed this and aI recommend it to people who like young adult books about fairies.

I finally had the chance to read Mark of the Princess and I had the pleasure of seeing a beautiful world that debut author B.C. has brilliantly created. Despite some weaknesses in the story, I so enjoyed reading about these fae creatures and their unique features, both physically and in the use of their magic skills. My favorite character was the villain because he was accurately described, desperate, constantly seeking new ways to impart his vengeance, but he didn’t scare me or surprise me. He didn’t disappoint me either and he kept the story interesting while constantly challenging the main characters. There is also a love triangle in the story, but I had no trouble choosing who I think Alannah should end up with.

The biggest problem I had with this story were the grammar mistakes; they stood out to me and were somewhat distracting at times. However, this is a great fantasy book that gives readers a clean adventure story with flawed characters and heroic ones finding their way and bringing justice as they do so. I even relate to Alannah in a way; she’s the daughter of a King, she’s extremely sheltered, and she has abilities that she doesn’t understand until she is forced to use them. Yet during the course of certain hardships she faces, she finds herself and is determined to do the right thing. B.C. Morin is a gifted author and shows the reader that her stories will only continue to improve.

Despite the so-so rating, I really like this book! Fantasy is definitely my favortie genre, and Ms. Morin has a great fantasy world created. Her world-building is excellent. I really got a good feel for this book and the regions and settings and characters. The characters were pretty well-developed. I LOVE Brennus, and Alannah is a great character. I'm a little apathetic towards the other characters, NOT because I'm solely caught up in Brennus and Alannah's world, but because throughout the book I just could not bring myself to care about the other characters and their problems.

What I do is I start at 5 stars and dock as I feel is needed. What I did not like about this book was the grammar. There are a lot of grammar mistakes and spelling errors in this book. Being the grammar policewoman that I am, I HAVE to notice these mistakes, which distracts me from the reading. Most people finish this book and are raving about it. I finished it and wondered whether it had passed through the hands of an editor at all. Also, I mentioned that I didn't care about the seconday characters. It was annoying, because I should, right? All characters are important. Well, I was not sucked into their lives, like I was with Brennus and Alannah.

But, really, this book was a great read. Even if you're hard on grammar and plot structure, chances are if you're a fantasy person, you'll enjoy this book.

The rave reviews for this book were everywhere and I had high expectations going in and I was not disappointed instantly swept into an amazing story of Love, Dark magic, Secrets and dangerous forest adventures. The flow from one point of view to another was written so seamlessly I didn't even notice at first. I was very impressed with the writing it was so well done I just loved it.
There was so much drama and excitement right off the bat and it continued at a fantastic pace throughout the whole book, weaving friendship and love with dark magic and curious creatures of the forest. I just cant boast enough about the wonderful writing in this book.
I was very pleased with how the love triangle was written and how Alannah handled herself in the situation. Brennus the strong warrior fae and Kaleb the handsome prince are very different and she knows it I was glad she was honest with them both but I must say I am a sucker for a bad boy every time and the twist at the end left me very curious about how it will affect many different things so so so so excited for the next book I cant wait to get more answers.
Every character big and small were fantastic and the wonderful land of fae was to full of fantasy and folklore I just could not get enough I felt like I lived there and I never wanted to leave. I would recommend this book to anyone I know I absolutely loved everything about it so get yourself a copy and get reading.

Enjoyed it! Loved it! You just can't put it down, and when I finished it I just craved for more.

I enjoyed the story from page one to the end. I find the beginning of the story so refreshing and engaging- it will already show you a glimpse of all the adventures you will experience. The cliffhanger made my cry but I wouldn't have it any other way!! The characters, which are wonderful fairies by the way, took me with them- to their journeys to different kingdoms, battles, chases; they made me experience the magic that love and friendship can offer.

I was in love with the places described in the book. I was like walking and turning my head around and I could see everything. Ms. Barbie describes them all with great details I wish I could visit them for real and I am sure you have to drag me out for I’m never leaving Meira forever! (Then I’ll find Brennus- that is really my first intention).

Brennus? Oh I am not describing him- it’s a strategy, I don’t want to share him, he’s mine!

An excellent tale of Princess Alannah and Princess Evyette as they are taken on a journey that will soon have them discovering themselves and what they are destined to be. As Alannah tries to not worry about her powers that havent surfaced to the threat on her life by Maligo to her finding prince Kaleb and Brennus who has captived her heart. Alannah's powers awakening and trying to learn to control them. Evyette was abandoned as an infant not knowing who her parents were she was raised as Alannah sister. As she goes after her sister with prince kaleb and Tristan to rescue her. Evyette is hurt and taken to the kingdom of Magi where she finds a mystrieous woman Dara who knows who she is. As Alannah travels to kingdom of Anrad with Brennus to train to control her powers and Evyette travels with Tristan and Kakeb to the village of Caelestis to seek the answers that will hopefully unlock the mystery to her past.

B.C. Morin writes a captivating story that keeps your imagination and just like you are in the story. I applaud her writing style I so highly recommend this book. This is a must read. I can't wait for book 2 to come out.
