Are You Turning Into Your Dad?

Rate this book
Are you...

Unable to identify a single song on popular radio stations?
Collecting pointless kitchen accessories like pasta machines and fondue sets?
Pretty sure your kids are just humoring you?

In other words, are you turning into your dad?

Dads represent everything uncool, and when you were young and oh-so-hip you vowed never to become like yours. But as you grow older, have you noticed that warm slippers and coupons have become more and more appealing?

Are You Turning into Your Dad? will help you determine whether or not you are actually turning into your dad (answer: probably) OCo and whether the trappings of middle age are the ultimate in lame or rites of comfort that may be worth embracing. "

I admit I didn't finish this so I don't want to rate. This book is just as the title says, but I found it getting boring after the first few chapters. At this time there is a commercial airing for an insurance company and they ask the question: Are you turning into your dad? Watching that commercial, which is kind of amusing to people my age is a sufficient amount of this kind of stuff, not a whole book dedicated to it. That is just my opinion. I do admire that the author put quotes by famous people throughout the book, and the stories claim to be from other people, not just him. If he truly did gather these true life experiences from others I give him kudos for being that thorough.

This is a great book if you want to find out if you're acting like your dad without even realising it.Theres also a few tests you can do in this book instead of just reading the basic information.
Theres also quotes in this book from all kinds of people including Oscar Wilde.

I was only going to rate this two stars until the author pulled the rabbit out of the hat with regards a paragraph on the last page.

Very funny and poignant.
The anecdotes are funny because they are truthful.
Personally, I don't look at it as a bad thing to be turning into my late dad. He had his faults, be we all do.

"You know when you're turning into your Dad when......

The end of your tie doesn't come anywhere near the top of your trousers.

The four letter word for something two people can do together in bed is 'read'.

The gleam in your eyes is the sun hitting your bifocals.

Work is a lot less fun, and fun is a lot more work.

You can live without sex,but not without your glasses.

You have a party and the neighbours don't even realise it.

Your ears are hairier than your head.

You start making maps of your wrinkles in the mirror."

This is a very funny little filler that I was given a few weeks ago. It is full of humorous quotations and anecdotes about the joys of getting old and realising that you are in fact turning into your Dad! I couldn't find many reviews about this book online and this may be the only one out there, but I would recommend it if you want a good giggle.

Personally I have known for a long time that I am a clone of my Dad, and its not just because of my thinning hair and belly. I have lost count of the number of times I have gone visiting my parents, only to be stopped in some store or chippy by somebody who thinks I AM my Dad! Either I look old or he looks young!

" Just remember, once you're over the hill you begin to pick up speed."
