Ronald Michael Luciano was an American Major League Baseball umpire from 1969 to 1979 in the American League. He was known for his flamboyant style, clever aphorisms, and a series of published collections of anecdotes from his colorful career. (wikipedia entry)
A fun and nostalgic read written by a truly funny man. The experience of reading the book was like traveling back in time to players, games, and events that seem so far away now. It was eerie reading about the 1989 San Fransico earthquake so soon after it occurred and the impact on the World Series that year. I would suggest that this book is only for diehard baseball fans from this era since a reader had to know the context and history of certain players for the stories to be funny. I enjoyed reading it but don't think a casual fan would enjoy the book.
