Notation is old, typeface is annoying. BUT this book covers the quantization of the EM field and shows how to turn the crank using pertubation theory by example.
In short, many modern textbooks cover this, but they "skip" the steps since the standard model now has to be covered in graduate school. For the money, it is a elucidating example of what it covers.
