How do you make a Moira Rogers? Take a former forensic science and nursing student obsessed with paranormal romance and add a computer programmer with a passion for gritty urban fantasy. Toss in a dash of whimsy and a lot of caffeine, and enjoy with a side of chocolate by the light of the full moon.
By day, Bree and Donna are mild-mannered ladies who reside in the Deep South. At night, when their husbands and children are asleep, they combine forces to unleash the product of their fevered imaginations upon the page.
A girl walks into a bar . . . Well, it's part werewolf bar where people in heat can go and order what they want by what drink they order. A Kamikaze is a girl in heat needs a werewolf partner. The man she ends up with means more to her by the end than she anticipated. Good story. 4 out of 5 stars.
Who knew that ordering a drink could have so many meanings?
Zoe Bennett is a werewolf in heat and she is in desperate need of a man. She finds herself at Last Call and orders a Kamikaze from the extensive list of drinks. While most of the men in the bar try to get Zoe's attention, she focuses on Connor. What follows is a hot little story.
I was impressed with Moira Rogers' writing style and I loved how she separated the wolf from the woman. A lot of the story captured the wolf's needs. Connor was perfect for Zoe.
I'll be looking out for more of Moira Rogers' books in the future.
I have a confession to make: I love shapeshifter stories wherein their shifter nature causes them to have uncontrollable mating urges. Not sure if that makes me a freak or not, but if so I'll let that flag fly. Kamikaze was one of the books offered during All Romance's Earth Day e-book giveaway promotion. I'd been wanting to check out this series so I was delighted when it came up for free!
Zoe Bennett is a werewolf who's looking for a temporary mate to ease the discomfort of her mating cycle. She's a relatively new werewolf and doesn't really know how to handle it herself, so she goes to Last Call, a supernatural bar where your drink order tells everyone what you're looking for.
Zoe orders a Kamikaze, and as soon as she belts it down, she's surrounded by interested men. She's only interested in one man though - Conor O'Malley, the IT guy who's there to update the bar's security system.
This book was short and super sexy. Kamikaze definitely delivered smokin' sex, hot werewolf mating instincts, and a sneakily romantic storyline. Zoe was just the right amount of naive about her wolf but her mating cycle was kicking her ass and making her do things she normally wouldn't do with a stranger. Connor was a sexy nerd and a more experienced werewolf who was more than happy to guide her through it.
One of the things I love about Moira Rogers' writing is the romantic tension. This book is a bit different because it just jumps right into the good stuff, and I loved it! If you look up " fun sexy werewolf short story" in the dictionary, this book is what you would find. I gave Kamikaze 4 stars
Sensuality: 5 of 5 kink: stranger sex/one night stand, anal, d/s, sex club
I recently found Moira Rogers through her Sanctuary Lost books and wanted to try some of her other books. This was really short but I like that because sometimes you just want the quick build up with out all of the realationship issues or politics in a paranormal regular length story. The idea of going to a bar and ordering a drink to discribe what you are there for is interesting one and I liked it for the short format. I thought there was a good story even though it was short. I loved Connor because he was so caring and not wanting to get involved but feeling the instant attraction. Zoe was funny because she didn't have a clue about being a werewolf or one in heat. This was the one area I wished it was longer. I really wanted to know more about this world and why/how they became shifters. The sex was smoking and so want more from these two. Maybe a sequel telling about how they continued to form a relationship after their one night. I definitely want to read the other two in this series!
I love werewolves. One of their main attraction for me is their passion and how they are not simply unashamed of their primal side but reveal in their basic carnal instinct.
Kamikaze is a short paranormal erotica novella about a new werewolf female, Zoe who has trouble handling her being in heat during the full moon. In the universe Moira Rogers had created werewolves have irresistible sexual urges during the moon phase which cannot be ignored. Poor Zoe cannot repress her sexual hunger any longer and goes into Last Call, a famous bar, where supernatural species go to meet and hook up. "Last Call, the bar where your drink order tells everyone what you need." Zoe orders a Kamikaze, which publicly declares to the bar that she's a "werewolf in heat, looking for a temporary mate".
The males swarm around Zoe but there is instant attraction between her and Connor, the man in charge of the bar's security. The heat between these two sizzles and to ease Zoe's discomfort they immediately go upstairs where Connor does everything in his power to relax Zoe's body and mind and sate the wolf inside her (=they engage in a lot of sweaty and super hot sex! ;-p)
What won me over with Kamikaze was how besides the scorching hot sex scenes Zoe and Connor got to know each other a bit and this was done with a lot of humour and sweetness, making them an endearing pair to the reader.
Quote:
Her T-shirt hit the floor, followed by her bra. He inclined his head and grinned mischievously. "Want to cuddle baby?" "Can we grope each other while we do it?"
Despite its shortness, Kamikaze was a brilliant and scorching hot read! I loved it and can only recommend it!
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one when I started it, it was a freebie that I nabbed a while ago and have not just gotten around to read it. I do like this author, so that boded well.
This one started out really hot and got hotter. I really liked the premise, how the wolves had a safe place to go when in a situation like this. I can only imagine the chaos that a public kamikaze call caused in the club. I wonder what happens to those that weren’t picked.
I liked that when in a bad spot with her mating heat in full force Zoe managed to find a good guy in Connor. He was able to take care of the physical aspects and then when the fire was out he was able to talk to Zoe and learn about her wolf and her life. I have hopes that this one night is the start of more for them.
Not exactly wham bam thank you ma'am, but pretty darn close. This is the first book in the series and it feels as though we are dropped into the middle of a story. Is it really a story? More like a hot mating scene. Last Call is a bar which services the supernatural community. Based on the drink a female orders, it tells the men in the bar, what she wants. She can order on or off the menu. After finding out what Kamikaze entails, I want to know what is offered OFF the menu.
Zoe and Connor get it on. There is no real plot or world building or even character development. This is pure hook up sex. This book is recommended for those who enjoy a long sex scene.
Romantica in novellas really aren't my thing -- I prefer them to be longer stories so that I can feel that there's an actual HEA. This one felt more like a "hey we had great sex, you seem nice, wanna grab a cup of coffee?" type deal, which left me really uncertain about the couple's future together.
However, the sex was hot (and included toys and backdoor play), the main setup was interesting (both with the meaning behind the drinks and the whole "in heat" thing), and I'd be interested to read more books in the series.
This was a short quick read that I liked and wished was longer. Zoe Bennett is an inexperienced werewolf who is dealing with her mating cycle. When she goes to a bar to drink where she meets Connor O'Malley. This was a pretty good read with a lot of heat. These two connected on a deep level. I have read this author before. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...
Ms. Rogers is not a new author to me, but I found this one on my iPad one night and saw the page number (36) and thought to myself.... "Self, this is one short book. Oh and self, we like this author." So.... I began reading.
Now what I like about this book was that there's was brief synopsis in front of the book to help me know what I was in for. And let me tell you.... 36 pages did not let me down.
Zoe is new to the werewolf world and she is in dire need... And when I say need I mean some need of some serious loving. Like SEX NOW DAMNIT!!! Not knowing what to do, being without a mate... She does the only left... Makes a trip to Last Call bar... Where the drinks actually stand for something other than to get you tipsy for the night.
Connor was finishing a days worth of work with a tall cold one - beer that is. He just finished his work at the Last Call bar when he noticed the drink order and the woman in front of it. The wolf in him kicked in and wanted to help the woman in need.
This is an explosive story of two people meeting at the right bar, at the right time. Both were looking for something that I think neither knew they were looking for... And then the wolves inside had their own say.... Or should I say play and liked what they saw. Yes, the story is short, but duh... 36 pages remember. Yes, I would love to have seen this story fuller, but Ms. Rogers gave me a story worth reading and panting over!!
Series Review: The Last Call series by Moira Rogers is a fab collection of steamy, erotic short stories that are perfect when you're looking for a quick read. The series doesn't need to be read in order as the only connection between them is the location they take place in and there is no character cross over (apart from the bar tender) but I'd recommend reading them all anyway.
Considering how short the stories are (they're around 35 pages each) I'm impressed with the connection that the Moira Rogers is able to build between each couple. In Kamikaze I really enjoyed the banter between Zoe and hunky geek Connor (I do have a soft spot for a geek!), they make a really cute couple and I loved their wolf instincts. Hurricane focuses on cursed witch Fiona and wizard Ben as he tries to help her. These two are literally explosive between the sheets! Tequila Sunrise is all about instinct as alpha Zach teaches beta Kieran how to dominate his more powerful girlfriend Evelyn and in Virgin Daiquiri Caitlin needs the help of demon Leo to avoid becoming her family's sacrifice in their dark magic practises.
Each story is super hot, super sexy and has a fabulous hunky hero (or two!). They also have plenty of steam and a dash of romance. I think my favourite stories were Kamikaze and Hurricane but I enjoyed them all and would recommend them to erotic romance fans who are looking for a quick steamy read.
This short shifter erotic romance read packs quite a punch. I loved how the authors were able to get me right into the story world and the character's dilemma, and move things along to a desirable ending all within the few short pages of the book.
Zoe is a young werewolf in heat and she's put off dealing with it for too long so now must find a quick resolution to the problem. Her plan brings her to the Last Call bar where she can order a specific drink that will announce to all the male werewolves in attendance that she's looking for help with her heat problem.
Colin, who has just finished the job working on the bar's security equipment, watches the female werewolf who doesn't seem like the type make her way to the main bar and order the drink that will surround her with eager males willing to help her scratch her itch. His eye is caught by her t-shirt that announces her to be a computer geek like him. He likes what he sees so he goes with his instinct to make sure he is the one that she chooses to help her through her heat.
The plot, by the nature of the story length, gets right to the point. Zoe and Colin are combustible together, but I loved the way they also connected on a deeper level. I thought the ending was promising too and look forward to more in this series of short stories centered around the Last Call bar and its specialty message drinks.
Those who enjoy hot and steamy in a quick read should give this paranormal erotic romance a try.
This is a quick read/short story. So this is a world full of all super natural beings.
There is a bar called Last Call. You go to this bar and order a drink that corresponds to a sexual experience (kind of like ordering off a sex menu :), you get your drink, when the drink is done the experience starts.
Zoe is a newly changed werewolf. Well once a year, the she wolf inside goes into heat and needs to be sated or the woman can go crazy. Well Zoe has been trying to ignore her wolf and it has gone to far...she needs someone now!!
Zoe is a Systems Analyst...a sexy nerd! She walks into last call with jeans and a nerdy shirt, walks up to the bar and orders a Kamikaze, which corresponds to a female wolf needing a male wolf in the worst way.
While she is at the bar...the male wolves start gather. One wolf (who wasn't at the club for sex, who was actually there setting up the security system) notices Zoe. Conner is a fellow nerd, who is amused by Zoe's shirt, wants to be the wolf she needs.
She picks him, they have a Hot Night, could it be something more...
It’s been a while since I’ve read any books by Moira Rogers. I love the Southern Arcana Series (Crux, Crossroads, Deadlock, Cipher.) I haven’t finished them or reviewed them all yet, but they are on my TBR list for sure. When I was perusing available freebies, how could I possibly turn this one down? Well, obviously I couldn’t. Just add it to my recently growing list of novella free reads. *sigh*
Kamikazee is the first in Moira Rogers’ Last Call Series. Zoe and Connor don’t waste any time turning up the heat, but that doesn’t mean that’s all there is to this story. As usual, Moira Rogers brings a little more into the story and finds a way to make you feel for her characters, even in this short time span. The rest of the novellas in this series sound just as interesting, so I will be sure to check them out. There are several more free offerings available at www.MoiraRogers.com if you’d like to get a taste of some of the other series. Some of them are novellas that are tied to previous works, but they are marked well. Enjoy!
Zoe Bennett hasn't been a werewolf for very long. When she finds herself in the grip of her mating cycle, she knows she needs another werewolf, one who can keep up with her. Unfortunately, the only other werewolf she knows is her ex-boyfriend, and he isn't interested in--or capable of--satisfying her desires.
At her wits' end, she braves the crowds of Last Call and orders a specialty drink, one that sends a message to everyone in the bar. When the bartender announces that Zoe has ordered a Kamikaze, every male werewolf in Last Call knows what that means: a werewolf in heat is looking for a temporary mate.
The chase is on, and security specialist Connor O'Malley intends to win, if only because the sweet young woman at the bar looks unprepared for what the night might bring, in and out of the bedroom. Little does he know that, when he catches her, he may not be satisfied being just a temporary mate. _______________________________________________________________________

Really sexy, sweet interesting read and a great series that I would highly recommend that is hot and spicy and never lacking in fun. I really loved and enjoyed Kamikaze Connor and Zoe were really great together and I wish there story was longer or got revisited so it could continue because it was truly great!
My advice read the summery of the book before reading it. I am awful at doing that. >_< The cover drew me in even in black and white on my kindle. Sad thing I thought it was a historical book because of the title. Easy mistake.
This was a free read on amazon that I absolutely loved. :)
The Review: The characters were cute and slightly comical in a shifter kind of way. At first I was a little confused because I didn't understand the whole go in to the bar thing... Why is everything getting tense all of a sudden. The story was short but a lot of emotions and events took place. Falling in love, figuring out ones self, ect. I love how the problems were eased in their quickly but not *Shoved in your face* quickly.
I was looking for a quick mindless read and this was free. Kamikaze doesn't even pretend to be anything but an erotic read, the setup of these Last Call shorts are all about sex - a Kamakaze order at the bar gets you a werewolf one nightstand (a temporary mating. The Kamikaze drinker is a female in heat and is serious need of a wolf to scratch her itch NOW.
Kamikaze doesn't really pretend to be anything but one long sex scene, and I since I am not an erotic reader I'd have been happier with the story without the final sex toy backdoor entry scene, but for those who like the non-vanilla erotic stuff there are three more of these Roger's backlist Last Call book going cheaply, so if that's your cuppa tea you might just want to belly up to the bar and order up?
This little novella is a paranormal gem! I am not a fan of werewolves or vampires and usually steer way clear of them. However, I'm very glad that I took the chance and downloaded this story. There isn't much of a plot here, however, the story still held me enthralled from first page to last. If there were errors in it, I didn't notice them. If there were huge gaping problems with the flow of the story, the sensual seduction was such that I couldn't care less. The premise was unique (at least to me) and the story-telling first rate. I actually wish this bar existed, and what I like best about the werewolves is how they have a truly feral feel to them, particularly in the bar-scene chase. Moira Rogers is one of that rare breed of indie author who can write. 5 Stars
A nice grab and a quick read. It is a little light on story, but has a great set up. Werewolf in heat orders up what she wants off the menu. Of all the werewolves in the room, she picks the one guy that didn't come looking for action. Obviously their inner human influenced what their wolves were seeking.
I like that Zoe is blunt and basically wants her need met. Just put out the fire!!! Even though Connor tries to draw out sex, it was still a little slam-bam-thank-you-mam for me. Kind of like a lunch time booty call. Good, satisfying, but a little slower and a little more detail would go a long way.
Served as a good little sex snack.

I was browsing through the books list when I saw this and thought to have a read and I am now a FAN FOR LIFE!!
Talk about hot and exotic and definately EROTIC. Zoe our lovely werewolf a fairly new werewolf by most standards but not really aware of what that would mean to her . She tried to ignore the call and ended up at the "LAST CALL" bar looking for a one night mate.
Connor to the rescue , tall gorgeous and built to fix what needs fixing and more woohoo. He is now my new sexy hero for sure .
I thouroghly enjoyed this book and will be recommending it to all my friends . I know you will have as much fun as I did . I will have to read this again and again for the fun time had by all ENJOY .

Last Call is known for their drinks’ double meanings and as nervous as she feels, she orders a Kamikaze which signals to those interested that she is a werewolf in heat looking for a temporary mate...

Thanks for putting this one up as a freebie on amazon Moira, hot and steamy, but the characters had a great dynamic between them. There was remarkable amount of back story crammed in, so much so I was surprised at how short this book actually was. Only one complaint, I was disappointed when it finished, and would have been much happier if it had been longer, both before and after they meet in the bar. I'd have been fine with paying more for future books in this series, as long as they were longer. Your promotion is definitely working, keep up the good work!
