This Rookie Read-About Science discovery book for young readers explains why the moon changes shape during the month. Photographs accompany the simple text and a “Words You Know” glossary is included to enhance word recognition. This science book is perfect for young scientists, space enthusiasts, and readers who want to know more about the night sky.

Highly recommended.

Good explanations. The preschoolers seemed to grasp the concepts and illustrations shared.

A basic, introductory book about moon phases. My toddler loves all things space related, and he really enjoyed this book. Simple text, lots of pictures.

I liked the photographs and the length was appropriate for young learners, but there was too much emphasis on the moon in the sky versus the science of full moon, new moon, crescent moon, etc. or as the title suggests, why the moon changes shape. My preschool science friends enjoyed reading it with me, but I might rewrite a few pages for next year.

This book would be good for introducing the moon phases to kids under 2nd grade, so either pre-k, kindergarten, or first grade would be the grades I recommend. It is a really quick easy read.
