Clear and easy to understand info to begin your journey with DASH. We found a couple of new family favorite dishes, but one or two needed some extra punch with spices, etc. I do wonder if a couple of the recommendations are a bit out of date like the focus on low fat rather than say good fats.
A very good reference and easy to understand concept of the DASH diet.Recipes and food plans included. I highly recommend this book for someone looking to improve their overall health.
I did a quick skim of much of it . Over all things are explained well - and it is a reasonably sensible plan. Well put together and a nice emphasis on slow change not being concerned with perfection and a higher concern with health over weight loss( though weight loss is a part of this) . lowering high blood pressure is the main purpose, with other additional health benefits mentioned. I think it is a good, clear introduction to the DASH diet
problems: all recipes talk calorie and sodium - but no other nutritional information. So if there are other health issues this is not the recipe book for you.
if you have diabetes - not the book for you. too many of the meal plans are high carbohydrate meals.
this is a low sodium/low fat meal plan - with comments about lower sugar amounts. I'm not sure how good it is for the last part, unless you tend to eat a lot of things like candy , soda ,etc.
My doctor recommended the Dash Diet to me last year. I didn't realize there were cookbooks available. This is one of the better cookbooks I've seen. Nothing is completely off limits, but obviously the recommend greatly limiting soda, cake, sweets, etc. but do encourage you to get right back on track after splurging. The recipes look really good and I look forward to trying them.
