I'm Single, and I've struggled with a fear of men for many years. Over the last few years, God and I have been on a healing journey. I felt led to purchase this book and begin praying for my future husband. It has been life changing for me! Everyday, I journal through a prayer, speaking them over my future husband, knowing God has a man out there for me. Thanks, Kathi, for writing this book.

Many wives, me included, tend to pray for their husband with a quickie checklist, marking that job off the list for the day. Kathi has written her book, Praying God’s Word for Your Husband, to help us out dig out of that rut and dig deeper into God’s Word and pray the Word over our husband. She’s practical in directing us to pick a regular spot and time, focusing our mind, preparing our heart, and, yes, even praying with a prayer partner or group of women–which makes us more accountable!

Kathi’s personal stories from her own life and the lives of other women encourage wives to pray more specifically and boldly. Taking the Scriptures and putting your husband’s name in the verses personalizes them, and helps you see the differences God is making in his life, yours, and your marriage and family! What can be more accurate than praying God’s word?

Kathi’s plan is an eye-opener for me, showing me how to pray God’s word over my husband in so many more areas of his life. It has definitely broadened my horizon of his prayer needs.

Some of the areas of prayer include:

‘ Career and finances
‘ Parenting
‘ Relationships with God and others
‘ Emotional health
‘ Safety
‘ Future

So if you find yourself in a rut, checking off the same list over and over, pick up Kathi’s book to broaden your prayer life for your husband. And surprise, I found it’s not limited to just our husband! Many of the prayers relate to family and friends as well.

Kathi’s book is just a starter for searching out Scripture to pray, but one to keep on hand, too! Dig into the Word and find the verses you need specifically. My favorite places to find prayers are Psalm 119, Ephesians and Philippians. Be creative–God is limitless in His answers!

Title: PRAYING GOD’S WORD FOR YOUR HUSBAND
Author: Kathi Lipp
Publisher: Revell
June 2012
ISBN: 978-0800720766
Genre: Inspirational/Marriage

Place your husband in God’s hands.

Many wives approach prayer as a checklist, something that has to be done in order to carry the “Good Girl Christian” card. But with this accessible guide, prayer can feel as natural as breathing. The reason is that the Word of God itself becomes your prayer.

With an accessible across-the-dining-room-table voice, Kathi Lipp shows you what a blessing it is to pray boldly for your husband, but also about the amazing differences you’ll see—in him and in yourself—as you pray in full confidence of seeing God answer.

Included in this book are prayers for your husband in:

 Career and finances
 Parenting
 Relationships with God and others
 Emotional health
 Safety
 Future

Ms. Lipp shows you how to establish a routine, pick a special spot to pray, focus your mind, prepare your heart, and even partner with other women in prayer.

PRAYING GOD’S WORD FOR YOUR HUSBAND is a book I highly recommend. It not only shares personal stories, but it also includes examples of how to pray, its set up in different categories so if your husband needs prayer right now in a certain area you can go directly there. Verses are written out, including references. And it is very down-to-Earth, and filled with common sense.

If you are looking for a book on how (and what) to pray for your husband then PRAYING GOD’S WORD FOR YOUR HUSBAND is a book that you need to pick up now. Highly recommended. $13.99. 192 pages.

I can not think of a better Father's Day gift to give my husband than to be committed to Praying God's Word for him! Nothing is eternal like prayer. Kathi Lipp directs the reader to use scripture in praying for their husband and how to pray boldly for him. She shows us concerns such as:

· parenting

· career and finances

· relationship with God and others

· emotional health

· future

· and teaches us how to approach those concerns through prayer.

Whether you are a new believer or one of many years, this book will help guide you to a better, more direct prayer time for your husband. I admit I will throw up 'popcorn prayers' for him throughout the day, but it wasn't very often I would set aside a quiet time daily to pray God's word over him. So my gift to my husband this father's day is to work through this great resource book and take the time to really pray.

You can too!

I have a few pet peeves. Well, probably more than a few. And if I tried to list them, there is one that would make the top five. Maybe the top three.

Man bashing.

I'm not talking about good natured teasing. I'm talking about the tendency for women to gather for lunch or an evening out and spend a significant portion of their time airing their husband's faults and weaknesses, usually to a receptive and appreciative audience who can't wait for their turn to do the same.

It's like fingernails on the chalkboard.
Or talking during a movie.
Or book reviews that give away the entire plot making it pointless for me to read the book.

I'm not implying that women should never say anything negative about their spouse. Relationships are hard work. And sometimes, a little advice from a carefully chosen person can help you see things in a new light.

But it shouldn't be in a group of twenty in the middle of a crowded restaurant at full volume.

We live in a society that heaps pressure on men and then mocks them in movies and television commercials. Regardless of whether they succeed or fail, they can't win.

So what's a wife, friend, sister, mom, to do?

Sure, we can affirm them. We can try to love them the way they want to be loved. We can make their favorite meal and be sensitive to pressures at work. We can encourage them to develop and maintain friendships, get enough exercise, and eat right.

But there is something else.

Something so much better that it could revolutionize our relationships and revitalize the men we love. Something so simple, we often overlook or minimize its importance.

We could pray for them.

I'm sure many of you do. But what if there was a resource that could help you pray for your husbands using the Word of God, tailored to specific seasons in their lives?

Praying God's Word for Your Husband by Kathi Lipp is just such a book. She spends the first few chapters talking about why this type of prayer is so effective, gives tips for establishing a routine, and shares suggestions for ways to partner with other women who also have a desire to pray faithfully for their husbands.

In the remainder of the book, each chapter focuses on a particular topic (Employment, Finances, His Relationship with Others, His Relationship with You, Parenting, Health, etc.) and while there is a little bit of narrative, the bulk of the chapters is made up of specific Scriptures, followed by sample prayers based on those verses.

It is a fabulous resource. You can pray through the different topics on a rotation, or use it to specifically address areas where your husband is struggling at the moment.

While this book is written for wives praying for their husbands, I think it's also a great resource for moms who want to pray for their adults sons, sisters who want to pray for their brothers, and daughters who want to pray for their fathers.

This book has earned a permanent spot in my "quiet time" stack (along with my Bible, my gratitude journal, and my copy of Jesus Calling).

I highly recommend Praying God's Word for Your Husband.

Kathi Lipp in her new book, “Praying God’s Word for Your Husband” published by Revell gives us a look at the power a wife has to change her husband’s life God’s way.
From the Back Cover: Place your husband in God’s hands

Are you ready to see God move in big ways in your husband’s life, your life, and your marriage?

Many wives approach prayer as a checklist, something that has to be done in order to carry the “Good Girl Christian” card. But with this accessible guide, prayer can feel about as natural as breathing. The reason: the Word of God itself becomes your prayer.

With warmth and wit, Kathi Lipp shows you not only what a blessing it is to pray boldly for your husband but also the amazing differences you’ll see–in him and in yourself–as you pray in full confidence of seeing God-sized results. Kathi directs you to Scripture, showing you how to pray God’s Word in every part of your husband’s life, including his

career and finances
parenting
relationships with God and others
emotional health
safety
future

She shows you how to establish a routine, pick a special spot for prayer, focus your mind, prepare your heart, and even partner with other women in prayer. With Kathi’s biblical direction, engaging personal stories, and encouragement, you can start making a difference in your husband’s life today.

Wives do you have a husband? Of course you do since you are a wife and this sounds like a silly question. Want to change your husband, make his life better? Want to do it God’s way so that you don’t have to nag at him and have the fights and friction that may be in your home? Kathi Lipp is going to show you how to pray and let the Holy Spirit do the changing. Part One is four chapters that are “Preparing For Prayer”. Then in Part Two, the actual “Prayers For Your Husband” Ms. Lipp provides fourteen chapters on topics to pray for with verses of Scripture that show God’s thinking and sample prayers. Want a book that will enrich your marriage and make your husband better then this book is for you. I recommend this book highly.

Kathi Lipp has written a book that is both inspiring and practical. It's certainly a book that can be read from beginning to end, but it's also a great resource to keep on your shelf to pull from in times of specific need.

I completely love the idea of our prayers being grounded in scripture, so that we're always praying God's word, and there's no doubt that we're praying His will. Our husbands need our prayers, and Kathi has laid it all out perfectly, and given chapter after chapter of sample prayers that can be used in just about every circumstance our husband may encounter.

As a wife in a spiritually unequal marriage, I greatly appreciate Chapter four that is dedicated to Praying for your husband when he doesn't know God. To be honest, I haven't really known how to pray for my unbelieving husband, but now I feel more equipped. Kathi doesn't have real-life experience with an unbelieving husband, so I like the fact that she asked Lynn Donovan and Dineen Miller, authors of Winning Him Without Words: 10 Keys to Thriving in Your Spiritually Mismatched Marriage, to contribute solid, resourceful information and prayers for that specific need. And while Chapter four is dedicated to the unbelieving husband, the majority of the other prayers in the book can also apply to this type of marriage as well.

I haven't been praying for my husband like I should, and I'm so thankful that Kathi Lipp has written this fantastic book that has truly pointed me in the right direction. With God's word to guide me, and Kathi's book pointing out the "why, how, and when," I feel equipped and motivated to pray for my husband as I've been called to do as a wife.

I highly recommend this book to all wives, and future wives! It's a resource you'll turn to again, and again!

Though many women approach praying for their husband as something they must do to achieve "Good Christian Wife" status, Kathi Lipp offers an easy to read manual on making prayer for your husband an essential part of your life. Through chapters such as "When He Feels Overwhelmed", "His Health and Safety", and "His Relationship With You" (just to name a few) Lipp shows readers how to take scripture and incorporate it into meaningful and heartfelt prayers that any wife can use.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret: Prayer is not one of my best habits. I typically put it off until right before I go to sleep and then run through the standard checklist, "Be with my husband and protect him, be with all the rest of my family, and take care of me too" and depending on how tired I am, I might list people by name. Knowing that this is not something I am good at, I intentionally read this book with the thought in mind, "This will help me!" And you know, it did. It showed me just how easy it is to take God's Word and use it in prayer that I can feel confident in. By breaking it down into easy to read chapters that I could relate to it is so easy now to think about what my husband needs prayer for and then be intentional about choosing scripture to pray. Not only has this helped in my prayer life for my husband, but for others as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to boost their prayers for their husband as well as their marriage.

This is one of those books that makes a great gift for any woman - especially a newly wed or soon to be wed.

Kathi Lipp has provided an excellent resource and jump start for your prayer life in regards to your husband. Often we struggle as women to find adequate scriptures to prayer in regards to our husbands. Of course there are the obvious about their health and well being and their stress and provisions. But there is so much more that we need to pray over our husbands.

As a Pastor's wife I think that prayer over husbands is often a neglected area of prayer. As women we automatically pray through out the day for our children and we stock up on books about praying scripture over them and blessing them. We may even buy devotional books to work on with our husbands but still we neglect that one on one prayer time where we focus all our prayer resources just on them. I believe if we were more aware of the need for this specific prayer time for our husband we may see a revival across the nation.

Men need our spiritual support in the form of prayer. They need us to spend time focused on them in our prayer life - praying over their lives, walks, struggles. They need our prayer support.

This book is an excellent resource just for that. Pick up a copy at your local Christian bookstore and be prepared to be refreshed.

Thanks to the publisher, Revel for this review copy.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

In her new book, Kathi Lipp shows us the importance of why we should always pray for our husbands. I fail at that so often, and since my husband is not a Christian, I need to be praying for him more.

Kathi starts out showing us how to use her book, then she gives her readers an outlook on just what kind of things to pray as we pray for our husband. Things such as his work issues, finances, his feeling overwhelmed, his past mistakes, his health and safety and especially his relationship to God.

As I read this book, I realize more now than ever that I need to continue to pray, and never give up. I appreciate Kathi taking the time to write a book like this for wives to have. This is not only a book to read through from front to finish, it is one to keep and read just the parts you need to read at the moment you need them.

I love this book. I only had to read a few pages to realize this will never be in one of my give-away packages because I need this for my own husband. The prayers are powerful, because they are grounded in Scripture. This is one book I will keep on my nightstand, and it will travel around the house with me whenever I need to search for a quiet spot to pray.

There is more power in the prayers in this book than in all the pep talks I've given my husband in the last several months--because there is more power in God's Word than in my words. I do believe it's important to encourage our husbands with our own words, and I'm not going to stop doing that. But sometimes it sounds like I'm trying to convince him of something, when that convincing is really the work of the Holy Spirit. I should be doing more praying than persuading. Thanks to this book, I can--and you can too.

Excellent book filled with specific scriptures to pray for your husband (or yourself, or your children). I enjoyed the format of the scripture followed by an example of praying that scripture. I can see this book as one I can use during my devotion/prayer time. My one concern is that the initial chapters seemed to communicate a "name it and claim it" approach, but I didn't sense that as the book progressed. Highly recommend this book if you are looking to incorporate Scripture into your prayer life. I read it to learn how to pray for my soon to be husband, but my heart was changed in the process.

I normally don't rate books that are totally outside of my wheelhouse, but in this case, I feel like the issues I have are still relevant even though the theology doesn't align with my own.

The emphasis on, if you are being treated poorly by your husband, considering that it might be your fault and praying for it to stop as opposed to considering whether his behavior is appropriate or talking to your husband is at the VERY BEST passive-aggressive and ill thought out and at the worst apologizing for abuse. Prayer as a tool in marriage needs to be accompanied by communication, and I would have appreciated even a two-paragraph disclaimer about abuse.

This book is not about a list of topics to pray for your husband. It is a set of 14 topics that men tend to struggle with. Each topic is chock full of specific verses with a suggested prayer following the Scripture verse.

I enjoyed reading the book along with accompanying stories that pertained to each topic. I think the suggested prayers can be used as a springboard to praying the way you need to pray for your husband.

This is a book I will keep within reach to help me to pray for my husband.

Kathi Lipp provides a wonderful prayer guide with actual examples to help women pray over every area of their husbands' lives. Read this with your Bible and journal in hand and re-read it often. She not only provides her own life examples but actual scripture references and sample prayers. I found it so instructive and helpful that I have now purchased her follow up book: Praying God's Word Over Your Life. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all women seeking encouragement in their marriage and in their prayer life.

I'm not married yet, but this book was still very helpful to me. Each chapter was targeted at a specific reason to pray for your husband, and each chapter was filled with example prayers directly based off of scripture. It explained ways to lift up your husband in those areas, and things to avoid making him worse. It was really helpful, and it's given me great insight for when I am married and praying for my own husband!

So much for everyone

This book is a great resource for different ways to pray for our husband's and scripture to back it up and pray over our husband's. There are stories from other wives and their situations and prayers they pray. This book is filled with so much to chew on and use in every day prayer.

Good:

Like how she talked about TV causing bitterness towards our husband. So true.
Like the idea of praying Scripture not just my personal thoughts.

Bad:

Scripture is used out of context
She was influences and quotes books I would never read because they are bad theology.

I am in a season of raising little ones so I find the times I can sit down to pray, it takes most of the short moment I have to just collect my thoughts and process what it is I want to pray about. I originally stumbled upon this book in my library and now I’ve purchased a copy to have as a part of my regular quiet time stack. She spends a brief portion in the beginning explaining the importance of praying scripture over our husbands but then the rest of the book is broken down by specific prayer scenarios (finances/job, fatherhood, spiritual health, physical health) so that you can go right to the topic you need that day and find scripture as well as prayer examples to pray through. So helpful as a launching pad to praying more for my husband in all seasons. The desire is always there, but the devil likes to jumble and distract the brain so that I barely get in anything. What a relief that the Spirit intercedes for us and our families even when we don’t. But when we do make the time, this book is a short and sweet resource to have!

Very inspirational read!

This book has truly been a blessing to my life and has encouraged me to pray for my husband, no matter the circumstances. God always hears our prayers, especially those of the Word of God.
