Help Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose solve mysteries from A to Z!
Kids love collecting the entire alphabet and super editions! With over 8 million copies in print, the A to Z Mysteries® have been hooking chapter book readers on mysteries and reading for years. Now this classic kid favorite is back with a bright new look!
W is for Wolf . . . Where could those wolves be? When the kids visit the Maine wilderness, they spot a white mother wolf and her babies on a cliff. But soon after that, the pups are stolen! Can Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose sniff out the culprits?
Ron Roy has been writing books for children since 1974. He is the author of dozens of books, including the popular A to Z Mysteries®, Calendar Mysteries, and Capital Mysteries. When not working on a new book, Ron likes to teach tricks to his dog Pal, play poker with friends, travel, and read thrilling mystery books.
Remember book 1, with the Absent Author, she back in this book. She adopts a girl named Abbi who is 12 and in a wheelchair. Abbi helps Josh, Dink and Ruth Rose solve the mystery of the missing wolf pups.
Not bad. The books are getting more complicated and increasing the plot and the vocabulary. There’s basically no diversity in the series and the stories are a bit unrealistic, but anything you can get a kid to read is a win.
Davey: "I liked the White Wolf. My favorite part of the book is when we got to see the white wolf. I don't like when the girls won the boat race."
Gordon: "The ending half of the book I liked, because there were cooler pictures. I liked when they got the wolves back, but I didn't like when they were stolen."
The white wolf is about 3 kids named Dink, Josh and Ruth Rose. All 3 of them are going to see their friend Wallis Wallace in Maine at her cabin. Once they get there they witness something terrifying, Wolf pups are stolen from their mother. They have to find out who stole them before someone starts suspecting they stole them. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars because I love mystery books. I liked how the author explained everything in so much detail. I also liked how he drew me in with a hook and kept me wanting to read the rest of the book, I couldn’t put it down. I would recommend this for people looking for a good mystery story or anyone looking for a fun and easy read.
This story is fun because the kids go on a trip to Maine to visit some friends from earlier in the series: mystery author Wallis Wallace and her brother, Walter Wallace. Wallis Wallace definitely chose the right genre, because kidnapping and smuggling seem to be the norm whenever she's around. This time, the victims are three wolf pups, and it's up to Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose to find the puppies in time.
Read these books when I was a kid and greatly enjoyed them, figured I'd give them a second read for kicks.
I certainly recommend any young mysteries fan devote time to this series, it's certainly a grand adventure for a young mind, the imagery of Ron Roy's words and his settings and unique character descriptions and personalities really help kids imagine a whole movie in their heads as they read each exciting page.
The main characters were almost 9? I am pretty sure they were already nine in earlier books.
Why is Abbi calling Wallace "mom" after just 10 months?
I find it odd that 'pony tail' was treated as an unchangable trait that a person could not change. Since when is hair being changed from up to down, or down to up, a disguise? At least the adults seem more reasonable this time.
Fiction 3-6 I had to pick another A-Z mysteries with my class because of the reaction I had from the first one! This book was phenomenal as it takes place on Mount Desert Island, Maine. Dink, Josh, and Ruth Rose try and find out who stole the baby wolves. This book keeps the reader engaged as they try to solve the mystery.
I like these mysteries because a lot of them deal with things kids might actually run into and how to handle it. In this one, the kids see some baby wolves stolen from a den they’re watching through a telescope. It’s very interesting and informative.
This was so cute! I loved it and I might get hooked on this series! Also, edit: this features a girl in a wheelchair who has spina bifida, and I can’t tell you how special this is and how seen kids in wheelchairs and with similar conditions may feel! 10/10 would give to any child!
I liked this from a conversation stand point. I like the fact that the kids were so passionate about saving the wolves. the characters are consistent in the series.
