Reilly and Jackson, two bungling angels who have failed countless assignments, are given a final chance at to get rich girl Celine Naville and regular guy Robert Lewis to fall in love
One of my favourite films. Was so interesting to see what scenes were cut from the completed film and learn more about the director and screenwriter. Devoured this in an hour or so. Very much so got me out of a reading slump, such a witty story. Of course not as amazing as the film but I had each scene play out in my head reading it anyway.
thank u fay for this lovely read, i love this movie even tho i still don’t really understand what happens (sort of the point of the movie) and i enjoyed the cut scenes very much. love you robert.
I absolutely adore the movie. It's an all-time favorite. Naturally, I had to get the novel. I enjoyed it just as much as the movie. There were only a few minor differences from the movie but they weren't bad changes. Overall enjoyable and I'm happy to have it in my collection.
Hodge plusses up his own screenplay with connective tissue that varies in quality. Mostly it made me realize the plot of the film made no damn sense without that tissue. But hey, I never noticed it before, so that's good screenwriting.
A really fun and quick read, especially if you've enjoyed the movie. Adapts the images of the screen perfectly to paper and ads so much more depth to great characters.
John Hodge's novelisation of his own screenplay for the flop Danny Boyle film is enjoyable and fleshes out the characters, but like the film, it is somewhat forgettable.
