I thoroughly enjoyed the series -- some volumes more than others -- so I felt the need to rate each one individually, but summarize here. I do believe that: (1) The series "dragged" on much longer than it needed to; the same story could have been covered in, perhaps, eight books with fewer characters. Toward the end I felt as though the profit motive may have overwhelmed the authors. (2) While some of the better scenes are downright chilling, there is also a bevy of superfluous and unrealistic dialogue (ie. some of the conversations in heaven seemed ridiculous -- this is heaven, not the post office). (3) Overall, I think the authors included too many unrealistic character traits among the central characters -- the pilot who almost cheats on his wife, the international news reporter who is a virgin at thirty. I would have preferred to see more "sinners" than saints, and I think it would have made the heartbroken moments deeper. Christians have messy, upended, broken lives just like everyone else, and maybe the more that is communicated the more people will be open to Christ. As C.S. Lewis pointed out, He cannot force anyone, he can only woo.

Simple writing, easy reading. Sped through them until about the 11th, and then it got to be tedious. The last book (12th) was what you're waiting for the entire series, but by then you've read about these people so much you are bored and quit reading a few chapters in.

I am currently reading Nicolae which is the third book of this Left Behind Series. It is so good I am having trouble putting either of them down before I finish reading. It has taught me lots of Revelation and the End of Times. I understand this is Tim Lahaye version of what he thinks is going to happen and I think it as close as anyone can get. Taking all the characters to each and every book is so great. Thank YOU Tim for writing this
I have read 7 books and now on the 8th, The Mark. I am having trouble putting them down. Read to 4 am last night. Every single book is wonderful. I received 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 today thru the mail. Can't wait to finished them all. If you have not read YOU are missing out. It helps you understand the Bible more and I also have cds of Tim Lahaye Propesy. Left Behind (Left Behind, #1) by Tim LaHaye

I don't have the gift set but I do have all the books and this is one of the best series I've ever read. Once I picked them up I couldn't put them down. It's almost exactly how I picture the end times. It was very easy for me to put faces with the characters in my mind and to imagine everything they went through. Every year I say I'm going to re-read this series but I know I'll want to read them all straight through again and I've just not had time.

I have read these a while ago. I like to read post-apocalyptic / Dystopian books. The religious twist and picking out what things in revelations mean was intriguing to me.
