Åke Edwardsson, nationally and internationally known for his (filmatized) Chief Inspector Erik Winter crime novels, has surprised me with this non-violent novel. I've read one or two E. Winter novels and watched one tv version and got "dehooked" quite fast, as E. Winter novels seemed to be using violence to attract an audience which I'm not part of... the more digusting, the merrier?

But this novel (a gift for my birthday) is quite different as it slowly follows a couple's struggle through life's challenges. Starting in the aftermath of the real disaster that hit Sweden 2005, the infamous hurricane Gudrun, the reader follows the couple dealing with their comatose kid, their childhood, the past, the present and the future through well-balanced flashes.

A slow read. An ok read.
