"Oh, sure. A gambler who doesn't really gamble. A drifter who hides an impressive intellect to go along with his brazenness. A potential bastard of a man, really, who somehow commands the fierce loyalty of a disciplined stoic. I'll bet the story behind that is one for the grandchildren." K. Jered Mayer's debut novel is chock-full of action, memorable characters, incredible set-pieces, a twisting plot, some dark humor and conflicts full of questionable moral decisions. From a haunting, lonely opening to a bloody, twisted ending, Waypoint will keep you glued to each page. Salem, a young orphan searching for his destiny, is faced with tremendous obstacles and staggering tragedies as he sets out for the northern city of Tsebb. Con man Donovan Swan and his stoic friend, the monk Cale Farari, move to bustling Sandaria in search of fortune and adventure. They soon find themselves thrust in the middle of a power struggle between a corrupt political council, a brutal constabulary and an organization of killers and spies. Basker is a retired soldier who has taken up handyman jobs in an effort to escape his violent past. But when his sister is brutally murdered, he embarks on a furious journey in an effort to track down the one person who knows who's responsible. The lives of these four characters are set on a collision course with each other full of high risks, betrayals, assassinations, psychopaths, bounty hunters, revelry, pit fights, gun fights, riots, explosions, slavers, thieves, plot twists, dangerous women, thrilling chases and daring escapes. In the end, the decisions they make have ramifications that reach farther than anyone expected. Find out all of the explosive details in WAYPOINT by K. Jered Mayer. Mr. Meyer obviously has a career ahead of him, and is an excellent and imaginative storyteller. For a great reading experience you can hardly argue with the price." "Waypoint is a terrific book. Mr. Mayer has a natural ability to create memorable characters that draw you in with their charisma and keep you hooked while reflecting on things in their past that make them who they are. I enjoyed watching the authors skill progress as the story went on" "This debut novel by Jered Mayer is fresh, exciting and complex."

I am really enjoying the characters. The author has threads of these characters...providing information on each. Have to be on your toes, because he jumps to each of them: giving them time to develope. I sometimes find I am engrossed in one and then it's time to bring back another and let them progress for a while. There are some great lines and imagery. Can't wait for more when he begins weaving these characters together.
