Most of K.C. Neal's days are filled with some combination of writing, reading, gardening, working, and watching stuff on Netflix with her maltipoo, Oscar. She has an irrational fixation with L.A., and during occasional trips there she pretends her life is more glamorous than it really is ("Entourage" is her guilty pleasure). She likes to surf and hang out on sandy beaches, especially where drinks are served adorned with tiny umbrellas.

Read my review of Pyxis - http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

The thing is, I read Pyxis almost a year ago. The magic of the first time just wasn't there anymore when I tried to re-read it, and although I thought I was still eager for the sequel, I really did not have that feeling of anxious anticipation for Book 2 as I did right after I first read Pyxis.

To add fuel to fire, I had expected much entertaining cuteness similar to the previous book in this series, Pyxis. I really enjoyed how Pyxis kept the action and mystery light and airy, and didn't take itself way too seriously. Alight was quite the opposite. I was looking forward to these charming characters spending their days fighting evil, yes, but mostly doing slightly unethical activities that resulted in hilarity, having misunderstandings and then resolving conflicts. I can get loads of action in any book. Rarely do I find a read whose absurd occurrences make me smile (and chuckle. And laugh). Basically, Alight just doesn't have the magnetic appeal that Pyxis had.

I have to admit though, Neal's narration and writing style has improved vastly since Pyxis. The experience has really done wonders for this lady. I couldn't believe it was the same person writing Alight.
Last time, there was the cool plot and subpar writing style. This time, I see a so-so plot and fantastic writing. What will it be for Book 3? Both? None? I guess I'll just have to wait another year to find out!

Alight: The Peril Review on K-Books

There are no words to explain just how excited I was when KC emailed this book to me. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of the first book in this series Pyxis last year and I completely devoured it! I loved every single second of it and have been dying to get my hands on the second book in this series for soooo long. And finally I have it! And I devoured this one even more quickly than teh first one I think. I just could not put this book down. I loved every moment of it.

Corinne must come to terms with the fact that she has a very important magical job to do and she must find the second Guardian as fast as possible so that they may start working as a team before bad things start to happen. When the Guardian is revealed Corinne must learn to work with them no matter how difficult it is to get along. But soon Corinne discovers that there are others like her and there may be a dark force out to get her team. Can Corinne use her powers to keep them all safe?

I loved this book so much. Right from the very first page I was sucked back into Corinne's magical world and couldn't put the book down until I had finished as I just had to know what was going to happen. KC's writing technique is just amazing and she has this incredible talent of reminding you what had happened in the previous book without it beind repetitive and tell you everything all over again through the narrator's thoughts re-living it as so many YA books tend to. I admit it had been a long time, 11 months to be exact, since I read the first book in the series, Pyxis: The Discovery. With it being so long when I first started reading I found myself struggling to remember the specifics of what had happened and I slowly found myself remembering again just by following Corinne's actions in the beginning of Alight. I really loved that I was able to remember what happened without having to be re-told and the narration becoming repetitive.

If you read my review of the first book Pyxis you will know that I absolutely love Corinne as a lead character. This didn't really change in this book. She is such a fantastic lead female and I love her spirit and how she has so much pressure on her and she still just gets on with it and doesn't let it get her down. HOWEVER, sometimes in Alight, I wanted to give her a good shake and scream "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I hated that she started keeping things from Mason. I love Mason. I absolutely adore him and I am firmly on Team Mason. So when Corinne met Zane and started keeping her meeting with Zane from Mason I was a little annoyed with her. Mason is perfect and he and Corinne are one of those couples that just have to be together because they are meant-to-be so how their relationship developed in Alight I wasn't such a fan of how it went. I desperately need them to be together so to see them drifting apart and having these secrets between them I really didn't like that.

I have firmly come to the conclusion that I hate love triangles. I purely HATE them. The reason? They just cause me so much stress and I am always getting angry at the lead female and freaking out over how the story will end. Enter our other boy Zane. I don't like him. At times I kinda hated him. He's not bad. I don't think he's a bad guy I think he's good, he's sweet, he's hawt and he's Australian *insert drool here* BUT there is one this he is NOT. He's just not Mason. And Mason is my guy. Zane is alright and all but I don't know there's just something about him I don't like. And it's not that he's coming between Corinne and Mason... Okay you're right it TOTALLY is that but also I don't really trust him. I don't understand his actions and why he was doing some of the things he was. Why is he so concerned about Corinne instead of his own Pyxis? Why is he around all the time? I don't like him and I don't trust him.

There is so much drama and important things happening in Alight. With the Pyxis series being a trilogy there is one thing I was afraid of and that was that Alight would become the typical middle book . You know the one where not much really happens and it's all just a big build up to the showdown in the final book. Alight was in no way a typical middle book. There was romance and action and even a big showdown itself in Alight. It was jam-packed with twists and turns, some having me jumping up and yelling to an empty room I KNEW IT, others having me gasping and gobsmacked with my jaw hitting the floor going OMG I never saw that coming.

Alight is an increidble addition to the Pyxis series and the ending has left me reeling totally heartbroken dying to find out what is going to happen in the final book. If you want a rollercoaster ride that there's so many ups and downs it could give you whiplash this is the series for you. There is breathtaking romance and heart-stopping that will you reeling and breathless begging for more.

Thank you author, K.C. Neal for providing this e-book for review. I thoroughly enjoyed Pyxis (*coughs* especially Mason *coughs*) and have been really looking forward to being, "Alighted". ;)

Alight picks up where Pyxis left off and does not disappoint! Corrine is charged with honing her skills, navigating her feelings for Mason and finishing up her Sophomore year all while waiting for the other Guardian to reveal him or herself. (No pressure or anything.) She doesn't have to wait long for other Guardian to be revealed and what a reveal THAT is! I didn't see that one coming but it was brilliant!

The green eyed creeper continues to cause problems, threatening the bond Corrine, Ang, Mason and the new Guardian have, but that may be the least of Corrine's concerns, especially when Zane shows up. He's the new guy in town, or dream world rather and he seems full of all kinds of helpful information. *glares* What's NOT helpful is how Corrine allows herself to be distracted by Zane. Zane, with his cool hair, fancy piercings and smexy accent. *stomps foot* (Really, not helpful to those of us who are fully rooted on Team Mason. \m/) I wanted to shake her and say, "Hellew, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! We're not Team Zane, we're Team Mason! hazel, is our team color NOT blue, focus Corrine, FOCUS!" I also wanted to tell her that honestly, I don't trust this Zane guy as far as I can throw him. I think there's more to his story and his icy blue eyes than she realizes and she will rue the day she met him. RUE.THE.DAY! *takes a deep breath* Actually, Zane could be a really nice guy and exactly what Corrine needs but it might end costing her more than she ever imagined.

Sophie is still hanging around, more than Corrine would like but hey, it's like they say, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." right? Ang is still the best BFF a girl could have and I'm so glad she has a love interest. Mason is still made of awesome but my heart hurt for him. He's doing the best he can as Corrine's Shield but even he may not be able to protect her from what lies ahead. *chews nails*

There is a lot of action in this book especially since Corrine and the others are training and learning how to utilize their powers to the best of their abilities. The twists and turns keep you guessing and the ending...well, all I can say is...NO!NO!NO! *shakes fist* ;)

What an amazing sequel Alight turned out to be!! Going into Alight I was a little worried it wouldn't live up to my expectations after having loved book one Pyxis so much, but now I can easily say Alight was AMAZING! I would even go as far as to saying I loved Alight more than Pyxis!

K.C. Neal has easily become one of my favorite authors, her writing in Pyxis was incredible, and I feel it only got better in Alight. All the sceneries of the fog, the cove, the bottles, the nets, the field everything was so magical and vivid in my mind while reading. Her writing has become one of my favorites to get lost into.

While Pyxis book one was a great read, I have to admit Alight really kicked everything WAY up! The mystery, the romance, the struggles, the friendships, everything in Alight felt like it had the amazing aspects I loved in Pyxis…but 10 times better!

Corinne has even more struggles in book two and even though she is scarred, she takes responsibility and knows she must take on the role as the Pyxis. I already had a lot of respect for Corinne in book one, but book two really brought out even more of who she is as a character. Now that I think about it, the Pyxis series has been amazing with character development for all of the main characters. Ang, Mason and Sophie, each of them I could see a big difference from how they were in book two from book one, and I cannot wait to see them grow even more in book three!

Although I loved practically everything in Alight, my only ‘complaint’ would be at times things got predictable, there were several things that I believe were supposed to be surprises, but I had seen them coming. Now this didn't bother me too much cause it only happened on a few times, and while I had guessed some of the surprises, there were other surprises that completely threw me off guard and I DID NOT see coming!

My favorite part of Alight was easily the new addition of Zane. Some Australian mysterious yet caring guy? Ya how could he NOT be my favorite part! He is going to be a future fictional crush, I can tell already! I cannot wait to see more of him (hopefully a lot more!) in book three and get to know his character more, as of right now I have my fingers crossed for Corinne to end up with him at the end of this all!

Altogether if you are looking for a unique and amazing new series to start pick up Pyxis, it will not disappoint. Book two has been an amazing additional to a series that is easily becoming a favorite of mine, and I cannot wait to get my hands on book three the final book in the Pyxis series.

Alight: The Peril raises the stakes and tightens the emotional threads. Corinne is faced with revelations she doesn’t want and enemies she barely understands. Her unease with the new Guardian—an old nemesis—creates great tension, and the mysterious illness afflicting her friends ups the danger and pace.

Zane enters the scene like a storm—charming, cryptic, and instantly connected to Corinne through a prophecy she never expected. Their chemistry complicates everything, especially her lingering feelings for Mason. This second book delivers a richer dream world, better pacing, and more defined supernatural rules. It’s a stronger installment, striking a balance between introspection, action, and fantasy.

I really loved Pyxis, so I was looking forward to getting back into this world that K.C. Neal has created for us. I quickly got reacquainted with the characters and easily fell back into the story. I had forgotten how much I loved Angeline, Corrine, and Mason. This dives right back into things and progresses to give us new dangers and threats. Also along with that are some complications that Corrine and the rest of her Union must deal with. Everything seems to be working against them, but as a Union they are strong together and I love how they really connect.

Corrine is still a great strong character that I enjoyed. She is trying to get used to her connection with Mason and also learn her full potential as the Pyxis and what powers she has. She needs to learn how to use influence without the liquids and how to combine them to work the best. She also needs to learn how to work with her Union to fight off potential threats. She sometimes lets her wandering mind get the best of her, and I found myself quite angry, no not angry, disappointed with her is a better word for it. It's not just her wandering mind, but the actions she takes sometimes. I understand her need to have more information and learn what she can, but she also is risking putting her Union in more danger than necessary, going against her great aunts request, and also in my opinion, going against the trust of her Union. I won't go into the details on that, but I really was upset by Corrine's behavior at times. She also has a little bit of an insecurity/jealousy issue in this. I understand where she is coming from, but I think that she lets it get to her more than it should and she totally over thinks things.

If you thought things were intense in the first one, they get a lot more crazy in this one. Harriet is more dangerous than ever and she is targeting not only Corrine and her Union, but the rest of the town too. Harriet is vengeful and powerful and will do whatever she can to take the role of Pyxis from Corrine. With the help of the Shield from the Perth region Corrine is able to figure out the weird website (if you have read the first one you know what website I am talking about) and is able to contact the other Convergences. I think she is a little too trustworthy with giving them info, but that's just me. She starts to crave seeing Zane because he can teach her things. It is foretold that they will be together, but Corrine fears what that might mean for Mason. I was so mad at Corrine trying to seek out Zane so often. I felt like it was such a betrayal to Mason.

This book was a perfect blend. It had action, adventure, character growth, and a lot of family stuff. I really like when family is a part of the story. I loved that we got to see the characters grow not only as individuals, but as a team. I really enjoyed that getting the whole Union to trust each other and work together was a constant struggle, but made them all stronger too. There are some very touching and emotional moments in the book as well, but nothing that had me clutching a box of tissues. I think that this was an excellent second book in the Pyxis series and I am pining for the next book!

Not losing any steam, Alight picks up shortly after the events in Pyxis. Readers are immediately thrust back into the chaotic world of Corinne, Angeline, and Mason. I felt like a prodigal daughter returning home, I didn’t realize how much I truly missed these charismatic characters until I began lingering over their every word. Once again, Neal has delivered a phenomenal body of work; from swoon worthy YA characters, to epic battles and boys that glow, every single second of Alight is a magical thrill ride. An adventure. An edible story that will delight even the coldest of hearts.

At the moment, our MC Corinne has a LOT on her plate. Discovering her destiny and coming into her powers is just one of those things. How does one balance defending the town and having a life as a normal teenager? Yeah, it’s complicated to say the least. However, Corinne to me is one strong individual. I love her feistiness and optimism in the midst of her troubles. She doesn’t know it all, nor is she an all powerful superhero type of girl. No, she’s just a girl from a small town who happened to inherit an extraordinary gift. She’s fun, relatable, makes mistakes, and above all, loves her friends. What more could you ask for from a character?

The entire supporting cast from Pyxis all make an exciting return in Alight. Mason absolutely melts my heart. With every word, caress, and needful look, he delivers a gentle animalistic magnetism that gets to me every time. He’s the type of character you want to fall in love with, you dream of being with, and the best friend you want in your corner. But – yes there is a but – Neal added some juicy flavor to the mix. Enter Zane, a mysterious older Australian character who screams, bad boy. I am fanning myself just thinking about him *insert tons of blushing here*. Not to give away to many details, Zane is just delicious, yummy, and any other adjective you want to throw in to describe a hot male character. His role in Corinne’s life is still up in the air. However, as suggested by the EPIC cliffhanger, Zane will be in the next installment and I for one cannot wait to see if my predictions come true.

Oh and let’s not forget the revelations we lean in Alight about the Pyxis, Corinne’s destiny, and the other Guardian! To avoid spoilers I will only say two things, I was right and K.C. you are terrible for making me wait to read book 3. Seriously though, don’t start reading the series unless you intend on getting hooked and don’t mind.

Overall, in Alight, the stakes are higher, a possible new love interest arises, friendships are mended, and battles are fought. It’s one awesome non-stop turn right after another. I highly recommend the Pyxis Series to everyone. It’s suitable for young teens and older generations alike. Everyone will be able to find something – or someone – in the series to fall in love with.

Alight drops you right back where we left off at the end of Pyxis. Corrine is back as the center of her pyramidal union. She tries to be strong, but struggles with the weight of her responsibilities as the others look to her for guidance. Her bestie, Angeline, has accepted her fate, and enjoys being a part of something important. Though Mason and Corrine grew close in Pyxis, they are still trying to figure out how they belong to each other outside of magic. Dorothy is back as Corrine’s aunt and helpful tutor. There are a few new faces, like Zane, whom Corrine meets on the dream world. She is attracted to him, but between Aunt Dorothy’s warnings and her feelings for Mason, she isn’t sure what to do about it.

There was even more mystery in this one: between the other pyramidal union, the sick students and Harriet, the big bad from Book 1, who was back with a vengeance. I liked the mystery element more in this book than the previous one. It seemed more important somehow. There was more magic in this one, as well as a lot more action. Between the dream world, Harriet and the upcoming Summer Solstice, the pyramidal union was always running around, doing something or another.

Corrine was a strong female MC, which I loved. She had a ton of responsibility on her shoulders, but she didn’t complain. She knew what she had to do and was willing to do it. Sure, she was sometimes sad or worried about her role, but she never tried to get out of it, or shirk those duties. Mason was back and just as cute as ever. He and Corrine were clearly perfect for each other, but couldn’t see it. Zane was nice, but he struck me as a sort of red herring. He seemed too perfect. Was he a bad guy or a good one? It was really iffy there for a while, and I’m still not sure I’m convinced which one he is yet. Ang, Corrine’s bestie, was another strong female. She also was struggling with her responsibilities, and with who her co-guardian was. But, like Corrine, she knew what had to be done.

The cover is okay, but it’s not a favorite. I don’t like the model’s face, she almost seems to be cocky. She appears much more self-assured than Corrine actually is.

The sum up:
Lots of times you hear talk of a middle book in a trilogy being just a placeholder between the first and second books, but this is not one of those. It was solid and moved the plot along well. I enjoyed it just as much as the first and can’t wait to read the final book.

I've read Pyxis in a lightning speed and enjoyed it beyong means. It was a beatifully crafted book and I am grateful that I get to read it. Now, we have Alight. Second book of the series by Neal and this one didn't disappoint either.

Alight picks up from where Pyxis left off and Neal didn't stop to take a breather since the action blasted off from the very first page. The ending of Pyxis was cliffhanger enough to make me salivate for Alight and after reading it, I cannot praise Neal enough. Both Pyxis and Alight was creatively crafted to give us a portrayal of a magical world wherein a lot of awesomeness happen. Although I consider the series "light magic", it was both engaging and entertaining with the right amount of action, drama, suspense and magic.

What makes a good book is the after effect. If you read a book and still had a hangover from it or if you still remember it vividly after a few weeks? That is a good book - which mean a great writer, a wonderful story and amazing characters. I've read Alight 2 weeks after I read Pyxis and it's as if I just read it a few seconds ago. I've missed Corinne, Mason and Ang and the addition of the second guardian was a shocker but a great idea as well. Corrine has a lot to deal with but good thing she has her friends with her but seems like Corrine will have another friend to help her with the battle against the bad guys. In addition to Corrine's increasing ability, it seems like Mason will have a competition in the net book. CLUE: this guys is Aussie and seems like a hottie so let's see what happens next.

I actually don't want to delve deeper in the review as I have the tendency to give a lot of spoilers  so let's just say that I extremely enjoyed both Pyxis and Alight, the authors writing style, the story a a whole and the effect that the series has on me. I recommend that you read this book as well if you don't want to miss out on the fun!

Corrine discovers that the second Guardian is her old best-friend/enemy: Sophie. She has to convince her to join them to form the pyramidal union of the Pyxis. Corrine's Aunt Dorothy and Mr.Sykes teaches the Pyxis, Guardians & Shield how to use their powers. They are about to face a huge threat during the summer solstice and need to be prepared to face whatever Harriet has coming for them. Corrine learns more about the pyramidal unions, she finds out more information from Zane in the dream world in the hypercosmic realm. She learns how to access the secretive web site made just for them as a forum for all the pyramidal unions across the world. Sophie & Corrine battle to make their friendship work and eventually she finds out the truth about their past. Harriet is controled by an evil man called Quicksilver, she's forming a shadow army and making everyone in Tapestry Lake sick with a mysterious illness. Corrine and her friends work hard to heal their friends, family and town members. The summer solstice brought a huge fight, but Corrine only had her one Guardian Sophie to help her. Somehow they defeated Harriett & her shadow men through an old Faerie Song that only the true Pyxis knows. Corrine is stronger than she thought because she has 2 generations of Pyxis within her. She is shocked to learn that Zane predicted they would end up together since he has a gift of foresight. Everyone heals, goes home and become better in the end. Sophie is with Brad, Ang is recovering at home, but Mason is pushing everyone away. Corrine is really worried about him and finds that there's something off about Mason... Zane visits Corrine in the dream world to let her know what due to the problems coming to Tapestry Lake they need extra help. Another Guardian from Perth will be coming to help and heal them... Zane will also be coming all the way from Perth! I can't wait to read the next & last book from this series in 2013!

Last year when I finished reading Pyxis , I couldn't wait to get my hands on Alight. The ending had me on the edge of my seat and I was eager to get back into the world of Corinne, Mason and Angeline. I expected Alight to be full of thrill, action, humor and a heart pounding romance as Pyxis had in it. While I did enjoy the story, action, humor and the adventures, the plot that would keep you guessing till the end and the romance that would have an air of expectancy in it was just not there. While reading Alight, there were many times when the plot seemed predictable and the story line seemed a little weak. A little more thrill and greater danger than a mere false Pyxis could have made Alight an amazing sequel but still, it was very enjoyable and gripping and unique sequel to Pyxis.

I loved how Corinne took her position as the Pyxis and the responsibilities that came with it. The introduction of the second Guardian was a surprise to me. I hadn't anticipated as to who was going to be the second guardian. K.C. Neal really knows how to grip you from the start till the end and that is exactly what happened with me. Her writing style has really developed in the second book and it was a pure pleasure to read through the enchanting world crafted by the extremely talented ,K.C. Neal. The story grew better and better with K.C's descriptive writing style. I admired the way Corrine dealt with all the obstacles thrown her way. Her strength really shone through this book. Many mysteries that were left unsolved in Pyxis were untangled but at the same time a lot of new questions arose, which I hope will be answered in the third and final book.

The introduction of the Aussie boy, Zane added an intrigue to Alight and I am anxious to see where that would lead the story to. It felt so good to be back in the world of Pyxis. I loved the second half of the book more than the first half. Overall I enjoyed Alight very much and I cannot wait to read the final book.

'Alight' is the second book in the Pyxis series, which follows the main character, Corinne, as she continues to learn about her role as the Pyxis and what her abilities are. When Corinne finally learns the identity of the second Guardian, she has to figure out a way to play nice or risk everything. While she's trying to make peace, her nemesis unleashes a horrible illness against Corinne's friends. Unable to cope, she flees to the dream world where she meets Zane, who changes her life forever. Will Corinne be able to win the fight for everything she loves?

This is an interesting and unique young adult fantasy novel that gives a fresh twist to the genre. It's fast paced and full of action, which makes it a quick read. The characters were interesting but lacked any real personality. They were still easy to identify with, just not on a deeper level. The plot was intriguing and I loved the history and backstory of the Pyxis and everything surrounding it. The action and adventure were well done and the romance wasn't overwhelming the the main plot. Overall, this was a fun book to read and a great second book in the series.

Disclosure: I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

It's been over a year since I read the first Pyxis book, The Discovery, which was easily one of my favourite reads of 2011. The cliffhanger had me waiting with bated breath for Alight – what was going to happen to Corinne, Mason, and Angeline now? And who would this other guardian be? My expectations were high.

Unfortunately, Alight has that middle-syndrome; where the novel acts as a bridge to the beginning and end of a series, causing the plot to slow down (something Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins also suffers from). Not a lot of big, interesting things happen.

Because of this, the book dragged. There seemed to be a lot of waiting around when I expected more action. I also wanted more character descriptions – it's been so long since I read The Discovery that I'd forgotten what Corinne and her friends looked like.

Even so, there was enough content to keep me interested in the Pyxis series. The description of events is very clear; from the movement between different realms to the connection between members of the union. I also appreciated the appearance of the Aussie character, Zane, and the intrigue he provided.

A lot of questions certainly have arisen from Alight. It's not the perfect novel, but I still can't wait to find out answers to all these questions I have!

Alight picks up right where Pyxis left off. Corrine now knows who the second guardian is and the emotional roller coaster that ensues is marvelous! While her bond has grown deeper with Mason, the appearance of the mysterious Zane throws quite a kink into the story. As Corrine struggles to unify her pyramidal union she discovers her enemy is growing stronger and wants to take everything from her. I loved how when it came down to the biggest fight, the last person Corrine ever expected to help her overcome ended up being her strongest ally. Corrine really started to embrace her destiny and grow as a leader in this book. My absolutely, most favorite part is the history of the pyxis and pyramidal unions. I hope that so much more of that is explained and used in the last book. If you haven’t read the first book Pyxis, get to it quickly. Oh how bitter-sweet this book is. I say that since I have to wait for the next & final book to come out so I can find out what happens!

I found this series interesting enough to keep reading, but not a complicated plot by any means- I believe this is for a younger age group than I usually read (I read a lot of teen fantasy, but that can encompass a big difference in the maturity of the intended reader). Anyway it was refreshing to have a different fantasy- no werewolves and vampires, just some mysterious magical potions that can influence behavior. I was a little put off that the author felt the need to go with the teen cliche of a love triangle, especially since so many reviewers of the 1st book (Pyxis), mentioned that it was refreshing to read a teen fantasy/romance without a love triangle in it, but here it comes in the 2nd book. Still interesting enough for me to probably read the third book in the trilogy.

As far as second books go, Alight: Peril (Pyxis book 2) was absolutely amazing! Having gotten to know all of the main characters is book one, I was ready for some action in this book and definitely was not disappointed! Every turn of the page brought something new, whether it was a new fight, the nearness of the Summer Solstice, or seeing Zane, the hot Aussie Shield. *swoon* A very well-written, fast paced novel that leaves me breathless for the next book.

I really enjoyed this one! I was yelling at Corrine constantly to stay away from Zane, and that ending! Oh. My. Goodness!

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

2.5 stars. It was ok. I didn't hate heroine Corrine but nor did I particularly like her. The introduction of Zane as potential romantic interest was annoying. I also didn't like the lack of the friendship and sweet romance between Corrine & Mason which was in the first book but missing here, probably to pave the way for a stupid love triangle.

I was going to wait on the review until I had read the next book, but I just can't do it. The cliche storyline, insipid characters, predictable plot...boring, boring, boring. Throw in the cheating on her boyfriend but acting like she's not & nah, I'm done. Even super powers can't save this series. I could find more interesting teenage drama at the local mall.

2nd book better than the first
Now, how often does THAT happen? Story is reving up, with evil engaging in some guerrilla warfare with a blitzkrieg of monumental proportions. And yes, I'm still finding it highly enjoyable.

It was a nice follow up to the first book. If you liked the first book, you'll like this one.

Rate: PG maybe PG-13 at times.

I don't like this Zayne development, he tries to hard. Stick with Mason
