Seraphina’s keeping a secret from her Wandering team: she’s perfecting her fighting skills. But telling Sam and Bishop the truth would only alert them to her plan: to go back in time, save her mom, and finish what she started. With the help of Turner, Bishop’s handsome twin, she progresses toward her goal but plummets deeper into dangerous territory where the lines of friendship and romance are blurred. One passionate kiss changes everything, leading Sera to unravel a shocking web of family secrets, heartbreaking ulterior motives, and sinister agendas. Love and lies collide in a haunting climax, where the truest souls may not survive.
If Michelle Warren had a spirit animal, it would be a tiger in a pink tutu, riding a Harley through a ring of fire. She lives in Chicago, dreams of California but hails from Baltimore. She has a slight obsession with travel, sunshine, Double Chocolate Milano cookies and writing novels. She didn’t travel the road to writer immediately. She spent over a decade as professional illustrator and designer. Her artistic creativity combined with her love of science fiction, paranormal and fantasy led her to write her first novel.
Dear Michelle, I think I got the wrong copy, it can't be already over, I need more!!!
Protecting the Truth is a beautiful sequel to Wander Dust, one that will make you wish for your future self to send you a copy of the next book right about.. now, please!
If you loved Seraphina's journey in the first book, if you wanted more adventures and running through time, if you missed the characters and wanted to see where the story will take you next - then you should just pick it up already and read it. You have no idea how full of surprises it is.
WHAT I LOVED
The cover: From the first time I saw this cover I really loved it. The rich colours of the artwork and the clues left in the background make it perfect for this story. It shows a bit of what you might find inside, except for the fact that the couple might give you the impression that love is a very big part of the story, which I am not sure if it's true - or not the way you might think, but the book is filled with magical descriptions, time-travel, adventure and intrigue and it will keep you so well entertained and begging for more.
The concept: After reading the first book I was in-love with the world. I loved not only the scenes in the past (when the characters got to see the world as it was decades or centuries ago), but also how present and past overlapped, how the characters could interact in those past times, how things could get changed. Also the school, the "magic" surrounding it and the wandering process made for very beautiful descriptions.
The characters: In this instalment we get to know the characters a bit more. So many things are revealed (I even had a feeling about Max and his little secret, hehee) and we start to see things in a different light. Some characters might bring disappointment in Sera's life, some might help her find her way.. all have a purpose and I loved to uncover secret after secret until we got to the biggest mystery of them all. And because I am being too cryptic even for my taste I will tell you how I loved Sera and her friends, how I still wanted to punch her father for not being there for her, how I cared for Sera when people she loved tuned to be different, when they hurt her.. but the truth is that all bad things that happen in her life only make her stronger. She is better at wandering, better at fighting and somehow it seems that her life is more important to others than she ever thought.
The ending: Oh, don't worry I have no intention in spoiling anything for you. I just wanted to tell you how I loved the last 50 pages - they change the course of things, they made connections with past events, they let me understand some things and put others in the shadow, making me want to know more, to read more.. yes, I really can't wait for the next book!
WHAT I DIDN'T:
The love-triangle (-ish): Ha! I am making up words, but I really don't know how to define the situation in this book. It was a bit strange... I must be the only person in the world not loving Turner, but I just didn't. Maybe because we missed a few months of the story (including the beginning of their like-and-hate relationship), so up until the ending I just didn't get the point of what was really happening. Same goes for Max and Sera, there was probably more love in the first book than in this one, and it left me with a bit of a bitter taste, but we have one more book ahead so the drama might be worth it in the ending.
CONCLUSIONS:
As I said at the beginning of my review, I really can't wait for the next book. "Protecting the Truth" seemed to open some doors that might lead us to some magical adventure in the sequel. The mystery was as captivating as before and we got to know and understand better both facts from this book and the previous one (and some goes for our beloved characters). I hope that you will enjoy this series too. Happy midnight reading!

Can I say I was screaming out loud! I'm in love w Turner! The second book was amazing! Way better than the first if that's even possible. Well done Michelle! Looking forward to the next one. I hope that there's some kind of Turner In it. One can dream.
Miss Michelle has done it again. I had the distinct pleasure of reading PROTECTING TRUTH recently, and I have to say… It’s AWESOME! I just love Michelle and her stories. If you missed the first installment to the SERAPHINA PARRISH TRILOGY, WANDER DUST, you seriously need to go catch up. You can get this delish piece of reading at a crazy reasonable price for your eReader. Just DO IT!
WANDER DUST laid the perfect groundwork for PROTECTING TRUTH. In WD, we are introduced to our characters and this underground world of Wandering, a type of time-traveler. Miss Michelle took us on this wild journey of discovery and wicked action scenes that still have me foaming at the mouth. We met Sera, who totally needs to be my friend, and her uber wonderful Protector, Bishop. ‘Scuse me whilst I swoon a bit…
PROTECTING TRUTH had all that…and then some. We come into the story with the yummilishious Bishop overseas visiting his family and Sera is up to her blue-violet eyes in defense training. Side note: There are few things in this world that I love more than a butt-kicking heroine (literally). Our girl is beating herself silly to be a better fighter. Why? ‘Cause she has a date with Cece, the evil B that’s holding her mom prisoner. The I’m-taking-you-down kind of date. And Sera is getting seriously good at this fighting stuff. Problem is, Bishop doesn't know, and Sera really doesn't want him to find out.
There’s also this little problem with Bishop’s elusive fraternal twin, Turner, who we didn't really get to meet in WD. ‘Scuse me whilst I swoon again… Boy do I love me some Turner. He’s intelligent, good with his hands (Erm…for inventing/creating trinkets and hologram machinery of course so get your mind out of the gutter), and has this dark side to him that is holy-mother-of-time-travels HAWT. But something doesn't seem right with Turner. Bishop hinted at some ‘sibling rivalry’ but it goes waaaay deeper than that.
PROTECTING TRUTH still had some action to die for, wonderfully descriptive holographic circuses that left me breathless, and swoon-worthy dates in London, but it was the deeper aspect that really drew me in. Miss Michelle brings us deeper into the Wandering world and we finally see how corrupted it is. Traitors are welcomed back into the halls of Washington Square Academy, Terease, or The Lady in Black, still terrorizes but there is much she’s not sharing, Sera believes the students are being bribed into the Wandering life, Bishop is holding devastating secrets, and Sera can’t fight the infuriating attraction she holds for Turner. The Academy is breached, the Underground holds too many cards, and we meet new people only to lose them. Tears, yes there are tears. PROTECTING TRUTH was truly non-stop and I loved every page.
The best part of PROTECTING TRUTH is the truth of the characters and their journey. Sera is wonderfully conflicted and I fell in love with her even more. She wants to do right, but somehow doesn’t quite make it. She battles with some major life-changing events and her growth through them are spot on. Sera’s far from perfect, but yet she is.
I've been a fan of this series from the very beginning and I cannot wait to see what’s next for Sera, Bishop and Sam. More please, Michelle!
Protecting Truth is the second book in The Seraphina Parrish Trilogy by Michelle Warren. I have been anxious to read this book since I finished Wander Dust so I was very excited when I learned the book was available to be reviewed. This installment picks up a few months from the end of the first book and we dive right back into the action.
Where do I begin? First I have to gush that I adore Michelle Warren and this world she has crafted for us to enjoy. Just the idea of being able to go anywhere you wanted in time to witness historical events is very appealing to me. Add the romance, suspense and action and this series is absolutely perfect for me.
The story is told from the point of view of our main character, Sera. She is such a strong, brave character and I love her. She has grown a lot since the beginning of Wander Dust as have the other characters we met. We also meet some new characters. Most notably, Bishop's twin brother, Turner. Now, I adore Bishop but Turner is a thousand times more interesting. Intense and edgy, he draws you in from the first moment you meet him.
Bursting with action, suspense and twists that will leave you gaping in open-mouthed shock, Protecting Truth is an intense and highly enjoyable read. There isn't a dull moment in the entire book. I can't wait for the conclusion to this amazing series. 5/5 Quills ~Mel
Wait... What?... Turner?! Lots of secrets... LIES! Is anyone who they say they are? WOW!! My brain is trying to catch up with all that happened in this book! I will have to read it again just to make sure it is the same book I started with!
Michelle Warren sure didn't hold back when writing the second book in the Saraphina Parrish Series! From start to finish it was action-packed with so many reveals!! I couldn't believe this is only book 2. I almost thought this was the end of the series because so much was going on with the characters, truths coming out, answering so many questions Sera had... and THEN SOME! I was completely shocked! Usually I can see where things might be going, especially in a second book, predicting the established characters actions... BUT!!! This caught me completely off guard, which left me wanting MORE MORE MORE!
The complexity of time travel upped a notch this go round. Following who and what was done in the past or real time seemed to meld together, giving the reader a lot to think about. This brought a lot of "ah-ha!" moments to me.
Turner... without giving much away, he became my new favorite. Of course mysterious-dangerous-forbidden-dark-brooding-sexy-bad-boys usually wins my heart. What happens will make you want to laugh, scream and cry. I will be waiting (not very patiently) for the next book.
Thank you Michelle Warren for giving me this wonderful opportunity to read and share your beautiful work!
CONTAINS SPOILERS Another fabulous read! I do have to say that it started out rather slow. I kept on waiting for truths and information to be revealed and it was slow coming. Once I got into the second half of the book, I could not out it down. I found myself thinking about it constantly, needing to find out what was going to happen next. Technically, the book was beautifully sound. I found no errors and the story was consistent.
Now down to the nitty gritty...MAJOR SPOILER ALERT TO FOLLOW
I would have liked more character development of Turner. I felt Sera's annoyance with him but I would have liked to know more about his personality. As the third book has not yet been released, I can ask that Turner come back. There has been something about Bishop that turned me off from the beginning and I was thinking that he might have ended up as a villain. There is no heat in their relationship, unlike that of Sera and Turner. Like Sam, I too thought that Sera's fate may have been with Turner instead of Bishop. I would love to see them be together instead keeping with the "ho-hum" relationship between Sera and Bishop. It just seems so safe and boring...Turner seems like more of the misunderstood bad boy! There, I have said my peace on the matter and truly cannot wait for the third installment of the Seraphina Parrish series.
So, look. This series is good. It is really, really good. Michelle Warren is an uber-talented offer and why this isn't being published by Harper Teen or some other comparable big house, I'll never know.
There are layers upon layers to the story and the characters are really well thought out.
If there is one thing that rankles is the point of it all. So far, we've seen that these talented people travel through time, but we haven't seen WHY they do it. They haven't been anything but observers thus far. Are they there to police others who would travel through time to destroy the future? I don't know. It's not addressed.
The other thing that's not addressed is why you would need a team of 3 to travel through time. You get the seer, the traveller and the protector. It seems totally unnecessary to need a protector if there is no point to the travel itself. (See paragraph above.) What is does do, however, is provide an excuse for a love interest.
But the more I read, the more I found that I didn't care about such practical things as a reason why. I got lost in the characters and the action. And it was action-packed. And I absolutely loved the ending. The next installment is going to be fantastic.
Honestly, I thought this book will be better than the first. True, there are parts where it got good but overall, it wasn't what I was hoping for. The growth of the characters were lacking if not absent from this book. It remained solely on the protagonist who in turn, is not a likable character at all. The characters that were interesting are the ones not provided with the background that will make readers get to know them more. Centering too much on the main character as well as the constant detail to the things not necessary to the story drew the attention from what might have been a very compelling read.
I really love this book and the series.I'm kind of disappointed with the ending though.I wish things didn't work out the way they did.Its a great read though..it really pulled me in.I'm looking forward to the next book...I'm hoping things aren't what they seem.
3.5 Took me way too long to finish this book. It dragged for about 3/4's and then the last 1/4 of the book was amazing and reminded me why I liked the first one. And the ending sucked cuz

When I was going to read this book, the reviews section surprised me a lot. Many of the reviewers were just going to praise this book and the whole series as it is the only book on the universe. Still, I am reading this but believe I found it as the reviews are describing in the reviews.
After completing it, I must go for the 1st book in the series.
This book is just as good as the 1st in the series. I have become in invested in what’s going to happen with Seraphina, Bishop, Turner and Sam. Turner is even dreamier & more than sweet Bishop.

4.5....
A fantastic sequel to a brilliant first novel! Draws you in and leaves you speechless until the final page.
So, the bad thing about reviewing the second and third books to a series is that you can't give away most things that you really really really want to. *sigh*
I really loved this book. It was a fabulous sequel to Wander Dust and even though it felt a little on the slower side for me, it was still constantly engaging you and pulling you through the book. What I mean by slower, is that there wasn't as much going on in this book. Like, we are with her through her classes where nothing in particular happens (we do react like Sera does through, amazed etc in each of her classes when something pretty cool happens) and then to her conflicting emotions of what is going to happen and what she is doing.
You all know by now that I don't like love triangles. I'm not really sure as to what I felt about this one though. It's not like throughout the whole book that Turner and Sera were actually together to make it a full on love triangle, but then towards the end of the book when you find out the truth about everything and everyone, I'm just not sure. Without even realizing it, I start to choose Turner over Bishop because of what happens when Sera finds out the truth. I can't even begin to explain this, and I'm getting stuck for words just by thinking about it (which is something I don't do with love triangles). When you get to the end-end of the book and the real truth shows, you're still so confused about who you really love, Turner or Bishop. We feel exactly like Sera does, and that's big for me from my loathing of love triangles. We agree with everything Sera does and the logic of everything and her feelings for both that we are caught in a tangle and we don't know what to do or who we want.
I love how in this book that we know what time we are in. We don't get a bit confused because we are now used to this world and are not in awe every time that it happens. We get to see some characters that we know and love, as well as the ones that we don't. Once again, I hate her father for the way that he acts. He gets angry at the things that Sera does, yet he doesn't want to take care of her or give any kind of interest in her. In short, the man frustrates me...
What I really love about these books, is that you can always relate to Sera and you feel like you're a part of her. Everything she feels, we feel. Every choice that she makes, we make the same choice. Even in the slowest parts of this book, we still feel like we are connected to Sera. There are only a small amount of books out there that connect you this deeply with a character, and this series is one of them!
When everything unravels towards the end of the book, we don't know what to expect. We can't seem to guess, or want to guess what is going to happen because we are stuck in the here and now. And then when it all hits, we are left in shock and are numbly turning the pages to figure it all out and to come to terms with it all with Sera all the way until the final page of the book.
If you haven't read this book/series yet, what are you waiting for? seriously.... what are you waiting for?
Protecting Truth has been a good read, in fact I enjoyed it a lot better than Wander Dust. A heart-pounding action and a series of scenes where characters are challenged in power of love, combat skills and most of all - unraveling secrets and past they never shared before, especially to Seraphina. It's all overwhelming for me as a reader. I couldn't have seen it all coming at me.
Seraphina has definitely shown characterization improvement. She has been putting so much effort in making herself useful as she wanted to protect others and her loved ones. She wouldn't want to be rescued every time when there are other people more important that needs a helping hand than herself. She finally put others' safety before hers. She has also become spontaneous. The trainings she's had definitely paid off.
The readers are introduced to new character, Turner. He's Bishop's twin. I have to say it was a good thing that they were twins despite the fact that there are consequences to face on ahead. That part was cruel, actually. I wouldn't want to say any spoilers about it, though. It has also become a benefit to me as a reader because the whole concept has been improved and its conflict affected. Most importantly, I truly enjoyed it. I truly am delighted to have continued on reading even when I didn't agree with Wander Dust.
I find Turner intriguing. His confidence and got a sense of humor too. He wasn't just interesting, he may as well have come out as a selfless and pretty vulnerable character. He has respect for himself as he fully knows where he stands in the situation in between of Bishop and Seraphina. He's given up the opportunity to be Seraphina's protector and his desires to his brother. Truly, he's not self-centered but genuinely has a good heart.
It was still not up to my expectation in some certain part in the book. For one, the conflict was still a little bit of a unclear to me because it could have been solved and properly, carefully planned out by the members of the Wanderers - didn't even have a solid plan before attacking the Underground. They could've at least considered the people's lives at stake. The Academy had charged the Underground last minute.
Although, Wanderers of the Society, Seers and Protectors all become aware of the situation in hand, I feel as though they are hesitant to take action. I'm uncertain of why that is. The Society of the Wanderers has still got many secrets, dark secrets, I believe. It's still not been fully revealed. Yet.
Terease plays a huge part for the things, she has perhaps, known among the Society. She would be the first person Seraphina approach for the right answers to the inevitable questions she has. Hopefully, Seraphina would truly have it eventually.
It's a fast-paced read as well. I finished Protecting Truth in one sitting., surprisingly very engrossed by what it has shown me. The setting is realistic as it gets and also incredibly mind-boggling. I honestly enjoyed it.

~Review: Well, to start off I loved Wander Dust. The story line and time-travel element was so unique and I quickly fell for this series. The characters were pretty darn awesome too. At the start of this book we have Sera kicking some booty. She has been working hard to progress her fighting skills so that she can go back and save her mother. But she has a protector for that right? Ya, but she plans on going alone so that no one she cares about can get hurt. Hence the fighting training. One big catch though...she is getting better than Bishop and....Bishop's twin brother, Turner, has been helping her all summer break long. Ya, that's one way to heat up the already feuding brothers.. especially because..there is a teensy little spark between Sera and Turner...even though Sera keeps denying it. Oh! And there is something Bishop is hiding..something that can potentially ruin their perfect relationship. And!!! There is still danger lurking at every corner!!
This book was even better than the first! There were lies, betrayals, flirting, flirting with hot boys, returns of enemies...*takes deep breath* Protecting Truth had it all! And once again....I stayed up till 2 am finishing the book. See what you do Mrs. Warren!! ;) I loved seeing Sera become more independent and kick-butt. She is a pleasant protagonist to follow. And most pleasantly....Turner. I was in love with Bishop but we got to see a whole lot more of this twin of his and...I fell hard. Like, wow. Ya, he is just....haha ya. So, I have a new favorite!!! ;)
I seriously had so much fun reading this book. It had some more humor (thanks to Turner) and I like to laugh. The twists and the ENDING!!!! OMG!!!! You guys...that ending....I died!! Michelle Warren is one heck of a writer and I wish this series got more hype than it does. It deserves it! Protecting Truth is utterly amazing! I enjoyed staying past my bed time ;) flipping through its pages. I was hooked from the beginning and didn't want to put it down. I needed to finish it right then and there. No exceptions...including sleep! I am SO excited to see what happens in the final book. I *tears up* something big needs to happen cus that..that ending...simply will not do!!
Ugh guys, If you haven't picked up this series yet...do so. It has everything a good book needs. It is thrilling to the brim. Especially this book. It is amazing and creative and you will love it without a doubt. This review is pretty short but it has to do because there was way too much that went on for me to even begin to describe...this whole review would be filled with spoilers. Your just gonna have to trust me on how good it was. You all know I don't give out 5 stars to just an book. It seriously has to be pretty outstanding to make that mark and this book hit it. So.....
‘Protecting Truth’ is the second instalment of the ‘Seraphina Parrish Trilogy,’ by the amazing writer, Michelle Warren. I cannot express how long I have been sitting in anticipation for this book to read on my Kindle! Wander Dust left me anxiously waiting for more, so when Protecting Truth was finally released, I couldn’t wait to start it! Thank you Michelle for letting me review it for you! Michelle’s writing is magnificent; the world she has created is fabulous. If only it were real, if only, if only! The idea of being a Wanderer, being able to time travel to any point in time, is just incredible!
Primarily, let me just say this… I am literally in shock. I cannot believe what I have just read. Michelle... Protecting Truth was fantastic!! But I am in total shock. Shock, shock, shock. I get way too emotionally involved in books...
Okay, now that that is out of my system, I can carry on! This story is told through Sera’s point of view. She is a strong, independent character, who I feel I am able to connect to easily due to her personality. When it comes to people she cares about, she is loving. If the people she cares about are in danger, she is fearless. You can clearly infer how much Sera has grown as an individual. The character, Turner, who we learn is the amazingly handsome, Bishop’s, twin brother. He is a very intriguing guy; you can never tell what he is thinking, however he is a smart and striking character, one whom you feel instantly drawn to.
Now, if you though Wander Dust was full of secrets and mystery, you have not seen anything yet! Things are revealed that just shock you. Yes, the shock I mentioned earlier is partly due to this. Secrets and mysteries are unveiled within this book. Many, you would not see coming. Well, I most certainly didn’t, and I can usually guess a couple! That fact just shows how what an utterly amazing, and talented writer Michelle Warren is! Let me say this. When it got to the end of the book, ‘things’ happened that had me wanting to throw my Kindle at the wall. Yes, I said already I get over-emotionally involved with books; I can’t help it. I’m an avid book reader; it’s practically in the description. So, yes, the ending was one that I did not expect.
Protecting Truth was full of mystery, romance, suspense and anticipation. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment that I spent reading it! There are numerous twists and turns in the plot, leaving you hanging and craving to read more. So, if you haven't read this book (or Wander Dust), go and do so. Now. Amazon. B&N. Etc. Now. Open that New Tab. Just do it. Now. Haha!
Protecting Truth is awarded a massive FIVE STARS! Thank you ever so much, Michelle, for letting me review Protecting Truth! I loved ever second! I am now anticipating, not so patiently, for book number three…That cliff-hanger. Oh my!
This book is all about Sera trying to save her mom from the Underground. She has plan in mind wherein she would go by herself and try to save her (again). During her search for her mom, she actually discovered more about herself, and everything about her life in the Wandering society. Secrets unfolds leaving Sera doubtful about the life she currently has.
I never expected this book to be a rebellion to a certain society or government, like most dystopians. I don't really like it that that is the approach that the author wants for her story. Everyone is being manipulated and no one can do anything about it except for the heroine. I'm guessing that there would be a rebellion or war but I'm a bit doubtful of that beacause I don’t think the author can reach that level yet, wherein the events would be cool and satisfying. (Suzanne Collins, writer of Hunger Games, couldn't even manage that one, making her last book a suckish one.) Though, I compliment the author for somehow tying everything up, in most of them anyway.
Like what I said in the 1st part, there are so much twists in this story that you just wouldn't expect. Well, most of them are quite intriguing and interesting but some are just plain weird. The bad part about this is that the author didn't really prolong the mystery. It's like most of what she unravelled here ended here. She should have prolonged it to make it more interesting (like Turner).
Now, let's go to the guy problem. Bishop is a stupid hero. You call him a Protector considering how weak he actually is. Seriously, the other Protector is way better than him. Also, he is sinful for a hero! (I don’t wanna elaborate on this because i don't wanna spoil the good parts) He should not be forgiven for his actions, most especially but Sera. He doesn't have the right to be jealous or angry at anything because he is a freaking asshole, for what he did. (Most especially to Turner. Yes, I'm pro Turner.) Another is, WHY IS THIS GUY SO FREAKING CORNY!!! "My Seraphina", God that is just plain horrible. I so wanna shoot him for that. Who says that?
Next, is about Sera. The weird thing about this is that you can't be an expert by just practicing for one summer. (Seriously, what does the school teach the Protectors, if the Wanderers can out fight them by practicing for one summer) I don’t know why they made Sera too good.
Lastly, I so love Turner in this book. However, sadly, the author can't give me the fun of seeing this character. (You'll know soon enough)
I'm going to start on the 3rd book as soon as I get a copy of it. Not that good of a series but good enough to leave you wanting more.
Protecting Truth was a great book. I really enjoyed it. We learn more about Wanderers and their history and that they have a capitol. We learn there's an oath they take when they finish their schooling and that there are a ton of perks that come along with that oath. I really felt like this society of Wanderers existed alongside our world.
I was intrigued by the family secrets that came out in Protecting Truth. The whole thing with Mona not really being her aunt, and two possible protectors was not expected. Twins are apparently not a good thing, but it's not surprising, because then you end up with someone having 2 protectors. I thought this part was interesting, and you have to wonder how many times it's happened before. Especially because it seems like they have a plan in place. While you don't really get what the point is, or why there's a need for a team, I still like the idea of people working together to time travel. Maybe there is no point, and it just so happens that there are people who have these abilities.
It really is the details that Warren works in that make the series, because there's so much more to this world than what we see. With the Underground getting more interesting and taking on the Society Of Wanderers. I can't wait to see where things are headed, and what's really going on. You know there's something there, but it really hasn't come up in the way I was expecting, so it would appear that everything is going to come out in the last book.
I thought the characters were great, and some even surprised me. There's part of me that wants to talk about them, but at the same time, I'd be giving away major plot points, and I don't want to do that either. Let's just say that Sera hasn't even scratched the surface of things that she first learned about in Wander Dust.
Sera's definitely an interesting character, and I thought her training with Turner, Bishop's twin, was interesting. I get why she wants to train, but what's the point of having a protector if you're going through additional training? I didn't care for the secrets she kept from her team, because they work in teams for a reason (whatever that reason may be). I get why she kept secrets, but it still sort of irked me.
Final Thoughts: Protecting Truth is a great follow-up to Wander Dust. I like all of the details that Warren has, and it really feels like its own world. There's so much going on, and I can't wait to read the next one! I really liked it, and while I didn't love it, it was still a fun read. Protecting Truth gets 4 stars.
After finishing Wander Dust I couldn't wait to see what happened next, when the author contacted me regarding a reviewing her second book, Protecting Truth I jumped at the chance. Wander Dust was a great read, Protecting Truth was amazing. We meet back up with Sera during break from school, Bishop, her protector, is back home in London and Sam, her seer, is away. Sera takes this opportunity to train and practise fighting without her team members being there, and with the use of Turners holograms, she is getting faster and more skilful. Sera is keeping her training a secret, wanting to wait until she meets Cece to get revenge and rescue her Mom. But hers aren't the only secrets that are being hidden. As the story progress an old familiar face makes an unwelcome re-apperence Perpetuna is back and is tormenting Sera and hounding her for a crystal that Sera knows nothing about.
Protecting Truth has more time travelling and some fantastic events with even better fashion, all hosted by Gabe of course who is even more flamboyant and exuberant. There is more fighting and more mysteries to solve. Turner, Bishop's twin brother, is on the scene and is constantly in the background trying to get Sera to notice him, and notice him she does but for all the wrong reasons. The romance between Bishop and Sera is still there, and there are a few more couples, but I felt like Sera wasn't in it with her whole heart but as we found out more a HUGE secret is revealed, one that I did not expect but one that also explained things. Sera is stronger and tougher in every way, and stands up for herself on quite a few occasions. After the last pages were finished I felt sorry for what she went through, but I am looking forward to seeing how she puts this sadness and anger to use.
I don't want to say too much about Protecting Truth as there are so many things going on I don't want to spoil any of it for you, just know that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and I can't wait to read the next instalment and find out what happens next, although I could have done without the cliff hanger at the end. Anyone who has read Wander Dust NEEDS to pick up a copy now, and those of you who haven't read it yet need to get a copy soon.

In the much-awaited second installment of the Seraphina Parrish trilogy we get both the perfect story and not nearly enough! See, Michelle Warren has a knack for telling a story that hooks you and draws you in, and while the book itself is this perfectly spun story, it leaves you wanting so much more.
Protecting Truth opens a few months after the end of Wander Dust, just as summer is ending and the new school year about to begin for Sera and her cronies. Unable to stand the separation from Bishop any longer, Sera wanders to England for a surprise visit -- setting in motion a chain of events that rocks the Academy. And so Sera's second year at the Academy begins on a stressful note, made worse by the ever-increasing tension between Bishop and Turner - his fraternal twin, and Sera's secret collaborator. See, Turner has been making defense training holograms for Sera, and she can now kick some major tail on her own - which would make Bishop feel inadequate and unwanted, since, you know, he's her Protector. Crazy stuff. Plus, Cece and the Academy's enemies are back in full-force, and the stakes just keep getting raised higher and higher.
The tension and story and all the ... truths ... that are revealed in Protecting Truth are making writing the review tricky. I don't want to give anything up, because this is a story you've got to really experience for yourself. So I'll tease you a little: the tension between Turner and Bishop? It's more than just twin-rivalry. All the secrets that Sera thought she figured out last year? They barely even scratch the surface. And the ending. Oh. My. Word. There are no words. Except "wow" and "where's the rest of the story, Michelle?!?!?!" Seriously. I need the rest of this story. The characters, the drama, the amazingness of wandering (who doesn't want to be able to wander, by the way?). Yup, Michelle Warren has officially created one awesome world. And left me hanging.
Sera is learning to defend herself with the help of Turner and she is trying to keep it secret from her team. She doesn't want Bishop to think she doubts he can protect her or that she is working that closely with his twin. The truth is she wants to go back and rescue her mom and doesn't want her team to know what she has planned. The trouble begins when Sera and Turner share a kiss and lots of secrets start unraveling.
I enjoyed Sera a lot in this book. She does some foolish things but in fact she is doing them to try and save her mom. At first when it started going towards a love triangle I thought I would be put off but in truth it works out and never really gets to that stage. Bishop you find out lots more about him in this book that may just change your mind about him. Now on to Turner well you know he is hot cause he is Bishop's twin after all but they are so different. He is an amazing character and I will say I am team Turner something I didn't think I would be when I started reading this book. You also get to see lots of the other characters you got to meet in Wander Dust and several of them will leave you shocked.
Can I just say Michelle Warren is an amazing writer. This is a series that really should get more hype than it does. You just want to go up to people and say read this!!! This second book in The Seraphina Parrish Trilogy will leave you feeling wrung out emotionally and wanting so much more. The time travel as usually is fantastic but the character development is what it is about in this book for me. Be prepared for loads of bomb shells and secrets coming to life in this book. Don't think yo know all about the characters cause this book will prove you wrong. want a wonderful time traveling series with a little bit of everything pick up this series and give it a try.
This trilogy is a story of love, loss, betrayal and self awareness. Seraphina Parish starts out as a confused teenager trying to figure out who she is and why her dreams are haunted. When she moves to Chicago to live with her aunt the mystery starts to unravel. Sera learns she is gifted with abilities that are both wonderful and dangerous. She attends school with other teenagers like her with heightened awareness and special talents. She hones her skills as a Wanderer, falls for her protector, makes friends and makes enemies.
In Protecting Truth Sera is growing as a person, a wanderer and a fighter. But she is keeping secrets from Bishop and the rest of her team, a decision that could have deadly consequences. Sera is trying to save her mother and while doing so, she uncovers even more secrets about herself and the Wanderer society. There is corruption, more lies and an oh so hot love triangle between Sera, Bishop and the twin brother, Turner. Sera's life is ever evolving as is her confusion. Who can she trust?
In Seeing Light, Sera learns that the secrets of the Society run deep, as does the corruption. Over the course of this trilogy she has grown so much, but she still has a purpose. I think that all the characters evolved in this final installment and became so much more than they were in the beginning. Mystery, heartbreak, suspense and intrigue overflowed in this action packed finale to a much loved series. I loved that throughout these books Sera and Bishop continued to grow and learn. Bishop is angry, confused and hurt; but he's steadfast and loyal. An unexpected turn of events and an ending I didn't see coming, made this both sad and satisfying. Sad to see the journey end, but very satisfied with how it did.

This story has been exciting from the beginning of the first book, but this sequel has catapulted it to new levels!
Seraphina, as always, has found trouble and adventure, in ways that seem impossible. As much as she makes me shake my head, and bite my nails in worry, I love her determination and independence. Bishop has become a guy I really enjoy reading about- I love finding out what he's going to do next, especially in reaction to the things Sera does, and the scenarios she causes. The other part of her Wandering Team, Samantha, has grown on me quite a bit as well. She's tough, for being so young, and has a heart I admire.
This adventure keeps getting better with each book, and I can't wait to finish this trilogy. I love Michelle Warren's writing, and the way she's created this world-behind-the-world. This is definitely a book I'd recommend to any YA Paranormal Fantasy fan, although I'd say you should for sure read Wander Dust first, so you know what's going on in better details.
