Helpless is the third book in the paranormal romance series Blue Fire Saga. I don't want to write any "spoilers" for books 1 and 2 by summarizing the plot of Helpless here. Helpless continues the adventures of Leesa and her vampire hunter boyfriend Rave. Rest assured it is filled with the same passion, humor, suspense and supernatural danger as the Breathless and Deathless (books 1 and 2).

I really enjoy this series. Love the characters and the suspense. what I do not like is the repeating of book 1 and 2. I would rather the author just got more to the story's progression instead of repeating the beginnings over and over.

Again Scott Prussing was able to win me over with his writing in Helpless.
It's a fabulously written story with great characters!

Now that Dominic has found Leesa, she finally got some answers about her weird, life-like dreams and her new found talent.
She agrees to train with Dominic to develop her gift even if she knows she's putting herself in danger.
But the reward of training is too good to pass up because Leesa will age slower and live a couple of centuries if she unlocks and trains her gift.
Living a few lifetimes means more time with her Volkaane boyfriend Rave, and for that Leesa is willing to surmount any kind of danger.

I really loved all 3 books of The Blue Fire Saga and I hope book 4 will be there soon!

Helpless, Book #3 of the Blue Fire Saga
Author: Scott Prussing

Synopsis:
Helpless is the third book in the Blue Fire Saga, a paranormal romance series filled with passion, danger and suspense.

Our Review [By LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha – Michelle L Olson]:
Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I’m a huge Scott Prussing fan. I have read and reviewed almost everything that he has available currently in multiple genres, and I was very excited to read and review the 3rd installment in the BLUE FIRE Saga after devouring Book #2, Deathless.
While I enjoyed Helpless, I felt like I was missing something when all was said and done. The detailed imagery and story building I’ve come to know and love from Scott wasn’t there to the degree it had been in his previous books. Call it the curse of high expectations…
I can only assume that due to deadlines and his need to get the book out by the holidays he didn’t spend as much time on the book as he had the others, and therefore it ended up being shorter and not quite as detailed? I can’t go into specific areas where I felt there could have been more because of spoilers, I’ll leave that for my personal communication with the author, but what I do want to say before I launch into my formal review pieces are that my comments should in no way stop you from reading Helpless because it was a very good book - it just wasn’t as good as the first two in my personal opinion, but that is MY personal opinion.
O.K, a lot of things developed in Deathless (Book #2), and Helpless picks up right where Deathless left off. Leesa is learning about herself with the help of her new friend, Rave and Stefan still have an uneasy alliance, Leesa’s family is almost thoroughly healed, and other than the supernatural elements, each day of Leesa’s life is like any other normal college student.
There is danger lurking however, and nobody knows exactly what the intention of these nefarious characters is, nor do they know exactly whose life their actions will affect.
Again, because of spoilers I need to keep my review vague, but suffice it to say that a few different battles are fought – both literally and metaphorically, things are resolved with some personal sacrifice and collaboration, and while all is generally right with the world at the end of Helpless, there are still several unknowns lurking that could cause an uproar in a heartbeat.
Helpless has considerable action and some really sweet romance. It is also a major growth book for Leesa – her character goes through a lot of changes in this book on the road to becoming who she is destined to be. While I didn’t find it quite as exciting or surprising as I found Deathless, it was still a solid installment to the Blue Fire Saga, and a necessary book on the road to the story evolution.
LITERAL ADDICTION gives Helpless 3 1/2 Skulls and recommends it for anyone who started the Blue Fire journey with Breathless - both Young Adult and Adult Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance lovers who want a light-hearted, unique Paranormal read.
I’m very excited to see what Scott has in store for the next book of the Saga, as there are a lot of things that we have yet to learn quite enough about…

Leesa is practicing her magic under the tutelage of Dominic's watchful eye. Destiratu continues to strengthen and new enemies are introduced to keep the story interesting. Cali is still the only one of Leesa's friends who has been let in on Rave's secret. Leesa learns a valuable lesson, that even the smallest of magics used wisely, can topple an enemy.

I enjoyed this story, and in fact bought the remaining books in the series. However, there are significant problems that need to be addressed to improve the readers' enjoyment.

The formatting problems present in book 2 have carried over into this book. What began as a minor font size issue at the end of each chapter grew worse the further I got into the book. This font size changes as much as two points up or down. As much as I enjoyed the book, I resented the need to adjust the on-screen font size on my Nook to continue reading this story. This need detracted greatly from the reading experience and prevented me from fully immersing myself in the story. The font style used for the chapter titles is inconsistent throughout the book. Having been formally trained in graphic design, I find this inconsistency to also be distracting.

Had there been no formatting issues with this book, I would have been quite happy to give it three stars. I enjoyed the story, but had no problem setting the book aside to take care of other things. The fact that the formatting problems increased the further I read lessened my enjoyment. It is with regret that I am unable to do so.

Review brought to you by OBS staff member Autumn

Beware of spoilers

With the third and most recent installment of The Blue Fire Saga, Scott Prussing continues the story of Leesa Nyland and her volkaane boyfriend, Rave. Leesa learns more about her powers and how to try and master them with the help of the mysterious wizard, Dominic. But Dominic has been in hiding for centuries and his reason for doing so not only endangers him, but vampires and volkannes, as well.

Stefan and Rave are forced to form an uneasy alliance to fight the evil that is tormenting them and come out of the battle victorious. But there is still a menace that is yet unseen, something that has been haunting Leesa in her dreams and will force her to come face to face with what really scares her – the Necromancer.

I enjoyed Helpless much more than the second book. The plot moved much faster and the relationships between the characters developed further. It was a fast and fun read and I would recommend it for anyone who, like me, is always up for a really good vampire fix. I really hope to see more of the Blue Fire Saga because it just gets better with every book.

It might be an oxymoron to call a paranormal novel unreal. The supernatural beings and abilities in this book are so unreal and so many. Yet more surprises and new supernatural beings coming out of the woodwork with convenient abilities. I accepted all these unreal things since it is a paranormal novel about the supernatural, however, I did not expect to ever feel a PNR might be stretching it but sometimes I did feel that way. Some of the abilities seemed a bit too convenient. I am still very much in love with series, and Leesa and Rave as a couple even though their romance is very young adult, they really need a break on that his kiss could kill thing. Leesa can finally get some answers on what's happening to her from Dominic. Leesa and her friends are just too perfect which I was fine with in earlier books but now it needs a little spice to the story. I wish Bradley, Leesa's brother and Stefan had a bigger part in the story, hopefully they will in the next book. All in all it was a pretty great read, I did actually enjoyed reading it.

Prussing delivers! This is the third book in this series and it is another great read! There is nothing like a Volkaane and Rave just keeps doing everything right! The Volkaanes and Vampires getting together and working together just because one little girl asked is totally awesome! Of course, there is the girl! She wiggles her way into your heart and you just keep having to go back for more. This is a series you cannot put down! I just discovered this author and can't wait to read more from him. Highly recommended!

Helpless by Scott Prussing is book three in the Blue Fire Saga. Leesa'a adventure in college continues and several new characters enter into the storyline. The suspense, drama and danger increase as the plot thickens. I have truly enjoyed this series and am looking forward to book 4. Scott has woven a very believable tale using creative characters, intense action, romance, typical college life, and paranormal elements as well. Enjoy <3

Still completely and irrevocably in love with this series. Here we got to watch Leesa grow as a person and as much more.
My favorite pare is still Rave. Who couldn't love him?!?! I know I do!!!! To see the love he has for Leesa and the love she has for him is touching.
Cali cracks me up...as usual. I'm lovin Dominic!!!! I'm still on the fence about Stefan. I'm still not sure about him.
This was an easy read that I read in less than a day. So ready to start book 4!!!!

Rave strives to control the blue fire within when they are together. Leesa is struggling with her magic and telekinesis plus the everyday grind of being a college student. Add some rogue vampires and a black magic wizard and life is about to get very interesting for this couple. Now I have to wait for the next book, hopefully it will be soon.

Good storyline..

The series has an amazing storyline, but it is poorly executed. The amount of easy flowing words to the few "big" words thrown in there don't fit that of a novel like this. And there is a big too much rebelling of facts we already know.

Way to much repeating the past. At this point is really old and annoying.
