the distinction between "Ritologists" and "Ritualist" is quite interesting. It's also nice to learn about the interaction between scholarly ritualists and performative artists through the case presentation of Jerzy Grotowski 1933-1999's workshop. Grimes takes an "actor" approach as a real ritualist. He criticizes the liturgical assumption, which fallacy is that "One pretends to sacred gesture but never actually achieves it." A very good reference book. Readers could get impatient for the passages are not very engaging. Well, maybe we need to invent genres that could render "labs" approachable to readers distant and afar in time and space!

A really good bend in perspective for approaching a number of different art disciplines.
