The galactic adventure begun in The Dracons’ Woman and The Lobos’ HeartSong, takes everything to a new level in the most exciting installment yet in Laura Jo Phillips’ thrill-packed “Soul-Linked Saga,” The Katres’ Summer. Trapped for a year in the living hell of being held captive by a mysterious sex slave ring and having her body turned into a puppet by an insidious Xanti Controller device, and armed only with her photographic memory and strange ability to control computers with her mind, Summer Whitney makes a courageous escape from her captors with the help of a fellow prisoner with a dark past, the manipulative Darleen Flowers. The two forge an unlikely alliance as Summer conceives a valiant quest to free every woman held by her former captors, but is confused by her feelings about the three magnificently handsome Katre brothers, Clan Jasani shapeshifters who aided in her rescue and with whom she will work to free the others. Why can she sense their emotions? Why does the oldest brother, Maxim, seem to dislike her so much? Why do they stir such powerful feelings deep in her body? And why do people keep on talking about her being an “Arima” and refer to her as perhaps being the “Mind”?
Old mysteries are resolved and new ones are introduced as Summer will have to call upon every ability she ever knew she had, and quite a few that she will discover for the first time, to complete her task. Her perilous journey will bring her face to face with the evil Xanti, whose true nature is finally and shockingly revealed, as well as with a shadowy new enemy, the Brethren. Only by unlocking her long-hidden potential, both as a penetrating Mind but also as a formidable warrior, will Summer have any hope of bringing to fruition the age-old prophesy for the salvation of the Jasani people and of fulfilling her secret desire of finding eternal love with three adoring, handsome men.
The Katres’ Summer delivers the three-dimensional characters, thrilling plot twists, and intense sensuality that thousands of readers have come to associate with Laura Jo Phillips and The Soul-Linked Saga. Her many fans will find this 111,000 word novel a worthy successor to her previous works and will leave them hungry for more.
Laura Jo Phillips is the Amazon best selling author of the genre-busting "Soul-Linked Saga" series of Fantasy/Romance/Adult/Science Fiction novels, and of the "Orbs of Rathira" trilogy, the the first volume of which was released in August 2012.
Candidate Bride and captive (Summer Whitney/virgin) uses tech telekeinesis, eidetic memory, and discovered katana expertise to liberate enslaved women with help from a former unfriendly and her friend Saige Lobo, wielder of Heart Sight and Spirit Guide Riata. Commanders, shape-shifting (katrenca/panthers), and magical (air/earth) male-set (Maxim, Lonim, and Ranim Katre/nearly identical triplets) get a poor start with their genetic mate due to an inaccurate disposition assessment and a family betrayal.
REC: Evolving storyline includes multiple enemies, prophecy, and a magical triad. Prehensile tail locks, a touch of bondage, and the soul-linking sexy moment (warning: all orifices). Engaging; time well spent.
I liked this book and I think because the male-set or whatever they are called didn't automatically jump all over the heroine because she was their Arima (which I guess means prophesied mate). They took things slow and even the oldest male in the triplet set was kind of mean, which made the book that much better because you're hoping he wasn't burning bridges as he went.
Really good series, just gets better and better. I'm hoping the rest of the series might come in a bundle too. Much cheaper to buy them all at the same time.
It was okay. I was a fan of how Summer and the Katres didn't hit it off right at first like the other soul links did, but then that ended up backfiring by leading to a complete 180 in attitude farther in the book that didn't quite make sense. One moment they were hesitant, the next they were in love. I liked Summer and Darleen's friendship -- which was surprising because I didn't expect to like Darleen at all, and she's still not my favorite character but she's not the worst either. All that said, I'm excited to finally make it to the Bearens' book!!
The Katres is the best book in the Soul-Linked series so far. In the beginning I didn’t really care for Summer, she had to grow on me. Once she did, I was rooting for her and her mates. But what I loved the most was that some of the mystery surrounding the prophecy was revealed and made clearer. Those revelations made me eager to read the next book. This has been a great series so far, and this book was less predictable than the first two books, therefore it gets a 5-star rating.
This series is not bad at all and I would reccomend it to any paranormal romance reader. The storyline is good, though at times predictable. I still want to continue reading the series to see what happens next.
Spannende Handlung, immer wieder neue Entwicklungen, und das Beste: sie sind über KU ausleihbar. Also reinlesen und schauen, ob euch die Serie so gefällt wie mir!
Love this series. The Katres story picks up a year after the Lobo's. Much has changed. The Lobo now have three young daughters. The Dracon ranch has became a small city, dedicated to the protection of the two Arima's and their daughters. The efforts to find the missing women has stalled. Summer Whitney has lived the last year as a slave doing physical labor. Her unique mind has freed her from the controller, but she has no means of escape. When Whitney is sold she finds her means of escape, with the help of a wanted women. When the distress call comes in from Whitney, the Katres brothers answer the call. When they arrive they find one of the females is their Arima. They have mixed feeling. Their parents mating was not happy. The recent loss of their father's and younger brothers leave them dealing with their mother. Whitney and the Katres brothers have a rocky relationship. Whitney is drawn to them but her focus is to track down and free the missing women. One women redeems her betrayal while another betrays her family and the Clans. The Heart, Soul, and Mind of the prophecy has been found. The nature of the Xanti is revealed. A new enemy in the Brethren is found, and a knowledge that two clan families are missing and for them to be successful they must be found. A fun fast paced and steamy story. Loved Whitney and the Katres brothers.
Since I started reading The Soul-Linked Saga, despite some ups and downs in the story, I never regretted to continued to read these books. The third book, The Katres' Summer, was already the best I've read regarding to the history of Jasani. But still, there are things to discover. ;) I loved Summer, that despite trying to fit into society to be accepted and have been kept in captivity, it has become what she always hid, a strong and intelligent woman. Still got some questions that were not answered in the book regarding Summer, for example, the scene of the Sensei (why and how it happened?) and the music box. I also liked the male Katre-set, but I say it was not love at first sight. In the beginning I was a little angry in the way that Maxim treat Summer and the way that the other two brothers do what the older ask for them to do. But after learning a bit more of the story of the Katre brothers I was a little more understanding. The end of this book left me almost bouncing around the house with excitement and anxious to read the next book. :)
I marked this as a 3 star but I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the previous 2 books. I found Summer a good character who was strong & stood up for other people. She had a strong mission to follw through on and she was determined to do it. The development of the plot continued and has become slightly stronger with new characters and more of an understanding of what it is all about.
The one thing that let this book down was Maxim & the Katres. I found Maxim to be rude and lacking understanding of what Summer had been through. It's obvious that they will all come together but it felt a little rushed towards the end and Summer sort of falls into it rather than develops into it. Phillips does explain why Maxim is the way that he is but it just didn't gel as well as I thought it should.
But the saga is yet finished so I'm interested to see how things continue to develop.
This series just gets better and better. Good actions and interplay between the main characters, plus you get to see how the others from previous books are coming along.
I just did not love this one as much I loved the first books. The guys is this one were just jerks! I did not like them at all. I hope the next one is better.
