Yay me!

After another attempted a few years ago, I knuckled down and got busy larnin' classical guitar. (The first time around, my old guitar's broken tuning pegs made it hard to keep in tune. Took it to a luthier and now it's good to go.) I'm also using Mel Bay's Classical Guitar Method, Vol. 1 and am halfway through that book.

Both this and the Mel Bay volume cover all the notes in first position, introduce basic music theory, some chords, and key left hand fingerings. This volume differs from the Mel Bay book in that the practice pieces are more musical, where the Mel Bay's approach is more etude-like. Also, this book focuses more on right hand position and technique. But overall, I find that the two method books are complementary.

This book is ok for absolute beginners, but not so well-constructed as for going further. I myself refer to it as a collection of some nice melodies to have fun.

This book is for people who want to learn basic guitar and are basically "newbies" at guitar. I on my 1 and a half years of playing haven't taken the time to finish this book until now, and it actually helped me refine and polish serveral techniques, and also on notes. This book is interesting since it has many popular tunes you could learn but at the same time it gives thorough explanations on serveral guitar basic techniques and the such. I recommend this book to everybody who wants to learn guitar or is a beginner for this book was extremely useful when i started out and is one of the best guitar books i've ever bought.
