When Melvin goes to Las Vegas for the Superhero's Convention, Candace is left in charge of Los Angeles. Between the horrible bullies at school and the devious and sinister Spaz brothers (Major and his brother, Big), Candace has her hands very full. And someone has stolen her cape! How will she stop all the bad guys before the city is overrun with crime?
The super-sidekick gets her turn in the spotlight in this fifth hilarious book in the Melvin Beederman series.
Greg Trine is the author of the Melvin Beederman, Superhero books for children, which he creates with his illustrator sidekick, Rhode Montijo. He is also the author of the young adult book, The Second Base Club. He lives with his family in his Southern California hideout.
This is book 5 in the Melvin Beederman Superhero series. When Melvin hears that some of his close friends want to go to the Superhero Convention in Las Vegas, he wants to attend. The only problem is he wonders if he can neglect his duties fighting crime in Los Angeles while at the convention. He goes after leaving his assistant, Candace, in charge. The Spaz brothers get wind of Melvin being gone and see this an the perfect opportunity to wreak havoc and go on a crime spree while he is gone.
I think that younger boys might enjoy the humor, which reminds me of Captain Underpants. In fact, one of Melvin's abilities is he sees everyone in their underwear with his x-ray vision. Having taught 3rd grade for several years, this series would be good for children (particularly boys) that age who are reading early chapter books.
The fifth book in the fun and hilarious Melvin Beederman Superhero series. While Melvin is away at a superhero convention, Candace Brinkwater is left in charge of the city. Bullies are conspiring against her and super villains are coming to town. Will she be able to handle them without Melvin?
137 pgs. This is a very humorous book. It is book 5 from a series about the funny adventures of heroes who help bring criminals to justice. In this book, the bad guys steal the mighty cape of Candace and 2nd pair of criminals go on a crime spree in LA. These are great adventures and even includes a super rat. Highly recommended for Gr. 3-5.
(I accidentally bought part of the series and had to go back and buy books 1-4 and others...at any rate, I found it was ok to read out of sequence.)
Fifth in a series about Melvin Beederman, a schoolboy and superhero. Laughs abound as Melvin heads out of town for a convention, leaving his sidekick, Candace Brinkwater, and his pet rat, Hugo, to keep Los Angeles safe from villains and school bullies.
