A little dated, but well researched, published 30 years ago. Its arranged like a gazetteer, by area and county, and highlights the unusual happenings and ghostly sightings in each place. Again, mainly black and white photos, just a few colour.

I am tickled by the way sites are described in this book, for example Oakehampton Castle PHANTOM DOG. The HAG ones are particularly entertaining. I suppose I was hoping this would give me some inspiration, but the very prosaic way of describing the folklore makes the places less tempting than I had hoped. Places I actually have found very atmospheric seem diminished by categorising them as FAIRIES, GHOST or whatever. Still I will consider some in the Peak District, which is a new area for me when I visit in August.

A very good and detailed guide what to see on your next roadtrip to Britain. You get all the maps of the different regions of the UK, plus an overview on the calendar of events. Together with many coloured photos and illustrations the best preparation to see real magic. Highly recommended!
