It was time to breakaway from the past.

I made a choice to fight on my terms and show my ex and the hockey world what a woman could do. The Society made me immediately regret it by demonstrating exactly how far their reach was.

But the people in my life refused to let me buckle under the pressure, reminding me what a team was really about—teamwork, camaraderie, and hope.
Hope that the next puck might score.
Hope that the next period would be different.
Hope that the game could change in your favor at any given second.
Hope was a hockey player’s most potent tool. And I had buckets of it.

People still wanted to see me fail. But there were more who cheered me on, the number growing daily. The hockey world was ready for a change, to break away from a past that no longer existed, no matter how hard the Society fought for it to stay.

Coaching helped me fall in love with hockey again and gave Reese a fair chance to play. And through all the adversity and struggles, it brought me so much more—purpose, strength, and love. Now it would end with me facing off against anyone who threatened that life.

Put me in, Coach. I’m ready.

This book picks up where the last one leaves off; we find out what is going on with Fletch and we learn a bit more about his past. The relationships between Henley and her men continue to grow and we also see more cameos of our favourite characters from the council series.

We learn more about how the Society was started and what it was meant to be before it all got corrupted. Dakota, Kurt and Anders finally get what is coming to them and it is fabulous.

There was an epilogue scene at the end which was from Reese's POV which was great to have but if I have one slightly negative thing to say then it would be that I would have liked an epilogue from Henley.

Overall a great read and I really enjoyed Henley's journey with her men.

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving this review voluntarily.

What a great way to end Henley's story!!
This book picks up right where book 2 left off, explaining what's going on with Fletcher.
There were a few twist and turns throughout keeping your attention. We also got a little suspense, spice, humor and so much more!!
In addition, we see a lot of growth in each of our main characters as well as the relationships between them.
Henley will forever be one of my favorite FMC. She continues to stand up for what she believes and doesn't give up.
Dax, Fletcher, and Reed were everything Henley needed. The banter and love between them all was so fulfilling. I love how they all stood up for each other too. They were a true example of a found family.
Side note: I love that we got to revisit with some other familiar characters.

We do get questions answered! I felt like the author did great job explaining and tying everything up!

This was a beautiful ending to Henley’s story! Jumping right in where the last book left off the we get all the answers to the questions we’ve been asking like who the society is and what what it was supposed to be.

I LOVED getting to “see” beloved characters from previous books, it really made it feel all tied together. Daddy Fletch is still my favorite 😍

You really get to see the results of all the character growth in this book with how well they work together and communicate.

Breakaway is a steamy hockey why-choose romance that is full of heat, hockey and amazing characters. Should you read it? Yes.

**Also that epilogue? Yes please! I love Reece they are such an interesting character and I would adore a book about them!!

Wonderful Conclusion!
This book was everything! The characters and their development,  the conclusion of the good vs. evil this series portrayed, the reminder that karma always comes back around.... just everything! And plenty of steamy scenes as well!
This series as a whole was outstanding!

A fantastic ending to Henley's story with her men. Picking up right where book 2 left off, you will not be disappointed with finally getting all the pieces. The epilogue was the perfect ending to this series.
I received a copy of this book as an ARC but this has not in anyway influenced my review.

Kris scored a hat trick with this conclusion! I absolutely love Henley and her men and how their story developed. Hopeful we might see cameos in future series like we did with Sawyer and Fin!

This was a feel good series. Strong FMC with strong supporting cast. Despite secret society (not a fan of trope) I cared about the characters and couldn't stop reading. 💯💕🔥

This book was an awesome ending to this series! I love these characters so much and the growth that we have been able to see individually with every one has been inspiring. I could not put this book down. Just when you thought you knew what was gonna happen it completely shocked you and that is the best kind. I truly enjoyed getting to see little cameos of characters from the council series that started this amazing world. Charlie's moment was my favorite lol. It had the perfect ending and could not have asked for anything better. I would love to see interest for a standalone for Reese. Just saying! But seriously I highly recommend this series, I promise you will not be disappointed.

Satisfying Ending
Well there’s certainly some sabotaging going on throughout this book against poor Henley! Some are direct and some are far more subtle but they certainly take it out of her 😖😖 thankfully she has an amazing support team, including old friends and new ones she’s been making since starting at Lux - watch out for those cameos 😁😁
There’s a lot going on in this last book in terms of their fight against the Society, the Championship, the Campaign, as well as general life 🙈 thankfully Daddy Fletch, Punchy and Goldie make time for Henley and you see them really become family 🥰 and there’s some great spice dotted throughout the action too!!
You get some real YES moments throughout the book as things start to swing the right way if not with a few bumps in the road 😬
It’s great to get all the answers you need and outcomes you wanted for this series, with a good twisty journey to get there 😄

Breakaway, by Kris Butler, is book 3 in her fantastic Lux Brumalis series. What a superb finale! Ms. Butler definitely pulled out all of the stops with this one. Filled to the brim with action, my head was spinning from beginning to end. The storyline is fast-paced and very well written, filled with adventure, danger, intrigue, subterfuge, politics, romance and hot sex. I love the reverse harem aspect of the story, but there is so much more here than just great looking guys and phenomenal sex scenes. Equality in sports is a major theme, and one that I believe Ms. Butler did a fantastic job bringing to light. Yes, gentleman, girls do like to play hockey--deal with it! The characters are all well developed and engaging. Henley and Reese are both truly inspiring. As for the men, where can I find one of their caliber? Individually, they are great. Together, they are positively swoon-worthy! Overall, the Lux Brumalis series is a must read with Breakaway wrapping it up as it's closer!

'Breakaway' is the 3rd instalment of the Lux Brumalis Series. And concludes the story of Henley and her men. And what a series it is!! The author does not disappoint.

So what did this book deliver:
More revelations relating to The Society, Reese's family, and Fletcher's background.
Karma catches up with a deserved few... 😈 Yes!!!
Dirty talking hockey men! 🔥
Steamy action! 🔥
And so much more....

Highlight of this book and series:

Henley, our Heroine. Henley has strength and independence and has shown she can be quite the fierce mama bear to those she cares most deeply for. With her guys by her side, they make an unstoppable unit.

Hero's - Daddy Fletch, Reed, Dax - what's there not to love?, loved there camaraderie particularly in this final book. They turn up the heat in this one! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Highly Recommend this Series!

In the last period of this fast pace story, we have a good ending to a wonderful series. We find out about Fletcher's story and what a story it is. Trouble from the past revisits trying to check them, new trouble comes around trying to force them to the boards, and the ongoing tries to knock them to the ice and hold them down. Our group faces the troubles in their true fashion together. New found friends and an unexpected ally help them solve some of these troubles. Surprises abound all around, old and new, good and bad. But our trio and their lady find a way to prevail, finding their way and to their HEA. Find out if this breakaway scores a hat trick for you.

Read This as an ARC and i am giving an honest opinion

An appropriate end to the series! This continued where the last left off with diving into Fletchers past and unveiling the secrets he’s kept under wraps. I still love the team work and dynamic of the men and how they’ve grown together as “bros”. The banter between them had me laughing out loud. It answered a lot of the questions left and gave the reader closure. I will say I’m sad to leave the world of Lux but loved Reese’s bonus chapter at the end! The over-arcing message and effort to bring equality to the sport was increased even more so this last book and it was satisfying to see the characters efforts to that movement were fruitful. This has the happiest of happy endings and was a very fitting end to the series.

Breakaway, book 3 of Lux Brumalis by Kris Butler @authorkrisbutler - Kris is a relatively new to me author. I definitely plan on more books by Kris.

Read the trigger warnings!

This book picks up right after the ending of book 2. Fetcher is the CEO of a billion-dollar hockey company. Reluctantly, that is. The Society is trying to have Dax killed & Henley kidnapped. Henley challenges her ex to a skills test & wins! Henleynhad got a bunch of proof of him doing illegal items that were released & he was arrested. They then take down The Society after winning the championship. Woohoo!

This was an excellent trilogy & I loved the series.

This trilogy was on fire from the first book to the last book. Henley an awesome young woman that takes custody of her sister. She breaks up with douse bag ex after what he released on the internet. It ended her career as a hockey player.
It is super tough being an elite female athlete in the sport world. So many road blocks in the way and the author wrote an amazing story how this FMC with her three MMC helped her overcome each obstacle when it presented itself. It was done with dignity and honesty which is rare this day and age. There was sweet banner, sabotage equipment, secret society, danger, super steamy moments and a HEA.

Oh my heart! What an amazing series! I loved this book. Am I sad this is the end? Yes, but omg, this book had so much going for it. We had it all - action, suspense, romance, spice, and heartfelt moments. Henley was a champion in my books. She was a fierce and adaptable woman, and I loved how her men would move mountains for her. That right there is love. This storyline was entertaining and fast-paced, which had me glued to the pages. This is definitely one of my favorite series, and I love that we get a few surprises in here. It's definitely a must-read and one you will enjoy!

Sad it's over!

Breakaway by Kris Butler is book three in the Lux Brumalis trilogy. This trilogy is a why choose sports romance that follows the story of Henley and her three guys: Fletcher, Reed, and Dax. If Lux Brumalis sounds familiar to you, it should. It is the school that The Council series takes place at. We do get to see little crossovers of Sawyer and her men in this book. Which I absolutely adore and love. I loved this series, the only thing I'm sad about is that it's over. I'll be forever hoping that Reese gets their own book later down the road.

This is such a great ending to a fantastic series. It picks up where the last book ended and so we learn about Fletch and his story. The relationship develops at a natural pace. I loved the writing so much yet again. How the story is going with Henley. I particularly loved Reese and the epilogue from their point of view. Though I would've enjoyed a POV from Henley as well. I also enjoy the fact we get to see cameos of much beloved characters.

Affirmative action

The finale of a fantastic hockey trilogy, I’ve been really into the hockey trope recently and as this is a RH story featuring strong women it’s just perfect.
Henley is such an amazing role model for her younger sibling Reese.
All the plot twists involving the “Society” come to a head here and we see justice served in a dramatic fashion.
Such a great wrap up where we touch base with characters we’ve met 9n previous series.

I can always count on a book by Kris Butler to make me laugh, cry, scream and feel a range of emotions as I get absorbed into the story.

Henley and her men, Reed, Fletcher and Dax deal with more blows from The Society and more secrets emerge as they travel for Lux Hockey Matches.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and cannot wait to see what Kris Butler writes next, as she always manages to blow me away

This is my new fav hockey rom series

Picking off where book 2 ended. You got the backstories of characters and much needed gaps that needed to be filled.
You got all the steamy smutty scenes you could want in a book with a great plot.

I loved how Henley over came and came out on top in the end with the help of her guys and friends

Great work by Kris

I hope there is going to be a Reese story. It is so needed and I’m rooting for it.

I loved this book and this series so much!!! What a great way to wrap up the series!!! I loved how this book had more of social settings for Henley as we got to see her at fun different events and I found myself envious of her because of all of her fun social events! I love how much of a warrior Henley is and how she wasn’t just fighting for her and Reese but for all hockey players. I really want a Reese spinoff series and am sad to say goodbye to Lux Brumalis!

What an ending to Henley’s story. I’ve loved this series because Henley is such a strong character, but she isn’t strong all the time. Henley is us. She has her ups and downs, but she always perseveres. While I’m sad to say goodbye to these characters, hopefully we’ll see them later on in Reese’s story. Because that one is a must. I have to know what comes next for them. I love this world and would read anything Kris writes in it, honestly.

This is more a review for the entire series. This was the equivalent to watching reality TV - which we know isn't good television but you can't look away from. Found=family/poly relationship. It's ok for smut just to be smut - but this book was trying to be a plot-heavy story when it has no business being a plot-heavy story. Tell me where there are/is a secret society, hit-men, sabotage, private investigators, drug-dealers seeking revenged, blackmail... this was trying to be too much.

Disappointing

So much complicated setup to get a rushed, ridiculously over simplified conclusion. This is my issue with cliffhangers in a series the resolution has to live up to the hype & anticipation, sadly it didn’t.
The strength of this series continues to be in character building and found family which is stellar but only makes the neglected plot lines more disappointing. There’s a feel good HEA and a wisp of future story

This has been an amazing series series with so many ups, downs and heartbreaking moments.

Henley Henshaw is great coach, sister and partner to her super hot harem of men. The Society had caused so many issues for Henley and her men. I despise her ex and am so happy that she got some revenge. I highly recommend this whole series.

This book was a great conclusion to the series. It's starts by picking up where the second book ended and we learn more about Fletcher and his past. We watch as the relationships between Henley and the guys grow and become even stronger. They all are there for Henley and she is sabotaged until things turn around, and karma finds those responsible. Loved this series.

Breakaway was the perfect end to this series as we finally get answers to questions we've had since the first series in this world. Henley and her guys have been through a lot and so they have grown closer relationship wise as well as into better human beings as a whole. There's fantastic banter, steamy yet intimate moments, and of course tears and giggles. A satisfying end to the series!
