Rachel Ann Nunes (pronounced noon-esh) learned to read when she was four and by seventh grade knew she was going to be an author. Now as a stay-at-home mother of seven, it isn't easy to find time to write, but she will trade washing dishes or weeding the garden for an hour at the computer any day! Her only rule about writing is to never eat chocolate at the computer. "Since I love chocolate and writing," she jokes, "my family might never see me again."
Rachel has over sixty published books, including the popular Ariana series and the award-winning picture book Daughter of a King. She enjoys hiking, swimming, spending time with her family, reading, and visiting far off places.
This was the gosh-darnedest book I have ever read clear through. It was like a splatter painting--take some idea, throw it on the canvas, throw another and another, and all in rapid-fire succession without regard to logic. It was so extreme in that regard as to be farcical. To say there was a stutter gun effect of deux ex machina would be too high a compliment. And then if my mixed metaphors aren't enough, I still plan to read book 3 in the trilogy to see how the series ends. Just call me Daffy Duck.
So this book was an eye-roller. When you throw in sentences like "She never dreamed of this scenario in Sunday School" you are trying WAY too hard to make this LDS fiction. I can't stand those cheesy lines!!!! And they are throughout this entire book.
Definitely liked the first book in the series better. Not so much this one.
Three months have passed since Cassi Mason and Jared Landon helped the FBI expose Jared's boss, the cold and lovely Laranda Garettson, as a criminal mastermind. Along the way, Cassie and Jared have fallen in love. Jared has moved to San Diego to be near Cassi, and together they're planning a temple marriage. But four days before the wedding, everything changes when Jared disappears. Will Cassi be able to find him in time for the big day or even in time to save his life? Mean while, Laranda is safely in a prison hospital, recuperating from a gunshot wound that paralyzed her from the waist down. Her body may be damaged, but her brilliant and devious mind is far from beaten. Big Tommy, an organized crime boss, is also on the move. In a stunning turn of events, his evil plans threaten to turn Cassi's world upside down.
Loved this book. I am a fan of mysteries and stories that are good and clean. While there is a romance here and there are guns and bad guys, there is nothing explicit and the language is clean. I can't say enough how much I appreciate that Rachel Ann Nunes can write a great book without anything foul in it. Again, it is a wonderful love story and mystery. The characters are clearly drawn and yet can be sharp and funny without horrible language. I loved their story of falling in love and caring for each other that is clean. Thank you Ms. Nunes for some great books!
Cassi and Jared's troubles continue as they try to make their way down the aisle. Jared's former boss is out for revenge and the couple are still stuck in art world espionage they would rather avoid. You find yourself rooting for the couple and hoping they can find their happily ever after.
It's a decent book, it just didn't have the "wow" factor for me. The leading lady blindly races after her true love, without any training whatsoever, in order to save him. She makes a lot of dumb mistakes in my eyes.

An entertaining easy read. Not as impressive as the first book but still fun to see where the characters continue and what new trouble they get into. I was a little disappointed by the repeat villain Laranda and not terribly surprised by Big Tommy. Plenty of action and mystery to go along with a clean love story.
I was excited to read this after finishing the first in the trilogy. I felt this was better written than the first, and loved continuing along the journey with Cassi and Jared. It's a fun quick read! Clean, Christian novel.
I am Mormon and felt that the Mormon aspects of this book were a bit over the top to the point that some of it distracted from the story and flow. The adventure is still a great read. I will read finish the trilogy.
Another amazing book from Rachel!! She pulls you into the story with the suspense and romance. She keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to come next. It is so fun to be pulled into the world of these characters.
Like Jennie Hansen, Rachel Ann Nunes is a beloved writer in the LDS romance market. Start with Framed for Love, the first in her popular romantic suspense series. ISBN 1932898085
