As expected I got a lot out of this. Szymanski really is a thorough and thoughtful researcher. This work doesn't manage to cover the selected topic of Imperialism and its causes, consequences, and stages as the other works I've read from him. He doesn't go into detail as much as he should at certain points but manages to substantiate his arguments with a reasonable and broad look at very general statistics. I basically wish this 500 page work was at least twice as long for him to be able to go more in depth. The analysis is also from the viewpoint of the early 80s (published during the first years into Reagan's first term) and while there are accurate predictions of what could be expected to happen, he didn't foresee what hell Reaganite Neoliberalism would unleash on this world. I think he would've had great insight about the last 30-40 years if he hadn't died so prematurely.
