So the sad truth is that I wasn't very impressed with this book at all. I knew and understood it was about a weird topic but the book was much more bizarre than I had expected. At times I most definitely felt the author was making very wild claims with no way to back it up. I am ok with the idea of reincarnation but when the author starts naming famous people only to say that in the ancient past they had been another famous person, well, how can I possibly believe that? Still, I think this book does say some interesting things (if you can ignore the wild claims in here).

So you might think this book is about the Spear of Destiny (also called the Spear of Longinus). Well it is but at the same time it's not. Weird, right? More than half of this book is actually about spiritual growth. It's about expanding the consciousness. And it's also about the Apocalypse. Yes, doom is coming! Of course people have been saying that for decades if not hundreds of years. Probably longer.

When I first started to read this, I felt the book was jumping around a lot. It seemed very scattered. It would be in ancient times, then jump forward to more modern days only to jump back in time again. I didn't exactly like that. Made the book feel very unorganized. It did stay more on topic once I got past the 1/3 mark or so.

But the idea in here is that the Spear is linked to destiny. There is talk in here about various demons / devils like Ahriman. This Ahriman is of the logical mind. And he apparently is ruling the day. He likes computers and logic and materialism, but the more you focus on that stuff the less humanity there is. Now that part makes sense to me. Because you see the homeless people living on the street while many homes and apartments sit empty. And no one actually cares. Some of these people are the elderly or veterans who can't afford rent. So I do feel the author has gotten this part right. And in the news today you hear about AI taking jobs away too. But this was written in 1990 I believe so you have to think about what technology is doing today and then think about it yourself.

The book also discussed the "mysteries" which were these groups people used to join long ago. It used to teach these "secrets".

In another section the author describes this practice you can try before bed so you can learn your history (of past lives of I remember correctly). It requires you to visualize. I sort of feel what he was describing here was linked to the "mysteries" above - but if these mysteries are so secret than how did he learn this stuff?? He doesn't ever say. So I am left confused.

Freemasons are mentioned too.

Another wild claim the author made in here was saying he had stood in the very spot where the Beast of 666 tried to take over the world ages ago. He says he could feel the echo of its "dark intelligence". It's name is apparently Behometh.

A good chunk of this is about self discovery so you can get wiser? To improve your intuition. Pop music is apparently very bad for that. The left side of your body rules your intuition and the right side of your brain.

The end discusses looming natural disasters.

A part near the end talks about World War II.

There was also talk in here about Cathedrals.

As you can see by now, this covers many different topics. Apparently the modern computer age is very bad for intuition and being connected to the Earth. You become more uncaring and you close your eyes to the bad things going on around you.

I really didn't find this very interesting at all. The wild claims he was making in here kept throwing me for loops, the "how could he possibly know that". I actually felt that he was just saying stuff, as in making it up. And in order to "see" the bad AI stuff about computers and all I had to read between the lines as AI wasn't a thing at all when he wrote this.

So is this book worth reading? I really can't say. I think it depends on how much you are into this subject. I actually feel I had learned more about the Spear from the other book I had read than this one.

The book is rather small in size so it is a fast read. But do realize that the stuff in here is way "out there".

This book is an interesting unfolding of the history of the legendary Spear of Destiny. I just did a shoot with the SyFy channel show Ancient Artifacts regarding the spear and it was quite interesting.

Managed to get half way through before the historical inaccuracies (and just plain stupid mistakes*), anti-science mumbo jumbo and "spiritual" bullshit became too much.

* Incorrect dates and ascribing actions to people who were nowhere near at the time. One major howler was saying the Jerusalem Temple was destroyed in AD 79 by Trajan, rather than in AD 70 by Titus...
