Autobiographical work of "religious anthropology" detailing the author's life among the people of Ethiopia, covering nearly half a century and focusing primarily on missionary work. Confidently written and very nicely printed, with numerous color and black & white photographs.
4.5 stars. Some of the information was repeated from chapter to chapter - almost as if each chapter was originally meant to stand alone. But this barely detracts from the amazing stories of these faithful Ethiopian evangelists. I highly recommend. I think the story of Fanta was my favorite. A beautiful picture of the sovereignty of God.
Fantastic accounts of God at work in and through people whose faith would not be extinguished. I was so encouraged and challenged by these true stories that I bought the book for others, so that they too could read what God has done in Ethiopia. Thank you Dick McLellan for compiling and sharing these stories. May God continue His work in this battered nation.
I really liked the way this book was structured, telling the story of God’s work in and through the lives of many Ethiopian evangelists. Each chapter focuses on a different evangelist but all together the book tells the story of the gospel going out across a region of Ethiopia!
Amazing stories of faith and courage. I didn’t know any of the history of Ethiopia or the tribes dwelling there, this book really opened my eyes to the terrible hardships they have faced, from religious opponents, satanic opponents to communism. God has gracious worked through these faithful men and women to bring the gospel to the unreached. A brilliant book
