"I just can't bring myself to buy it"

It is difficult to voice negative opinion among faithful supporters. I did not enjoy "The Secret", but was attracted by the cover and promise of "The Answer". I thought this is a book that could motivate and teach me a thing or two in being an efficient "business or no business" person. This book has a beautiful intro; the first chapter that told of the author's personal journey and success was encouraging, and tempting. A brief coverage of the development of modern science, easy and fun to a point that layman would find interesting. Then there came the ultimate theory of all atoms are made of energy, and energy is made of consciousness?! But whose? Why yours? Why mine? Afterward, it's "The Secret" all over again but this time targeted for business-minded who wants to use positive thinking to attract wealth. I like the idea of having a dream book - a catalog of the list of dreams I have - and I am going to do it right away as advised. Many other motivational writers have taught us the value of making a concrete and solid list of our dreams which aid achievement (you would enjoy reading the works of Jack Canfield, or Matthew Kelly), but more in the benefit of directed focus and determination rather than trying to use consiousness to assert cosmic influence. I agree that there are a lot in science that we don't fully understand. There are mysterious theories that have yet been proven wrong. My view is only this: if I have to think about materialistic richness and wealth day and night to attract them, I would rather be slightly poorer and spend my time to think of goodness and how to make my life meaningful through hardwork and self-improvement. If our will and consciousness can really mold our future, I cannot even begin to imagine a world that everybody is thinking about getting that million dollar house or multiple billion business and nothing else. This is too sad. I just can't bring myself to buy it. Sorry.
