Lacey Weatherford was born in Ft. Meade Maryland while her father was serving in the military. She has been a life long resident of Arizona, spending most of her time growing up in the small rural town of Clay Springs.
It was while she was attending the small country school in Clay Springs, that she read her first "big" book at the age of eight. It was a Nancy Drew novel and Lacey was instantly hooked. She read every book that she could find in the series and decided that she wanted to write stories too.
Lacey spent a lot of time at the library from that time forward, even volunteering in her later teen years and early twenties. She would don a crazy clown outfit for the Friends of the Library fundraisers in an effort to help get the new town library built.
When she and her husband moved away from the area, Lacey took the opportunity to take some creative writing classes at the local college to help further along her interests. Several years later, they were blessed with the opportunity to move back to Clay Springs with their family. The town had finally succeeded in building their library and Lacey had the opportunity to be President of the Friends of the Library for a very short time, before relocating.
Lacey and her family still live in the White Mountains of Arizona, where she continues to write young adult novels that have a fantasy/fairytale or paranormal bent to them, as well as being sure to include a great romantic storyline!
I have to say, this last book was my least favorite. I still loved the series and wouldn't trade having read them, but the resolution of the plot was a bit sudden, unexpected and a little too dark for my taste. It was like an almost-happy ending, and I really dislike those. Most people would likely say something about realism, but I read to escape. I dislike endings that force me to accept the reality that happy endings are the things of fairy tales. At least it wasn't a complete dunking in the still waters of reality. I mean, things work out for the most part, right?
Perhaps I'm not doing the best job at pointing my finger at the exact issue I had with this installment, but that's mainly because I'M not even completely sure what threw things off for me. I've considered that I may need to go back and read the previous book and then maybe re-read this one, and that may be what I do. In the end, the thing that leaves me the most unsettled is the ending. All of the issues simply resolved too quickly and without much in the way of a believable explanation. Then, as this is the last of the series, I was left with something of a cliffhanger. Did anyone else who read this keep thinking maybe there was a page or ten missing once they'd read the last sentence? "I can hear you"--the end? What!?!?
Where to start with this amazing book series? It has witches, it has warlocks, it has demons and soul mates, romance and sexy encounters and absolutely swoon worthy men. What is not to love? Christmas day 2011 I was given a kindle fire. Being a fan of books about Witches I simply searched the word “Witch” and I stumbled upon Lacey’s First book “The Trouble with Spells”. After buying the book I spent the better part of that day eating up the story and dying for more I purchased the rest of the series.
Through out this series you are introduced to Portia and Vance a couple of kids with wicked powers who just can’t seem to catch a break. When all seems well in there lives, well Lacey just throws you another curve ball and your left asking yourself “what the Hell just happened here!?”. Each page is riddled with delicious romance, and action that could require CPR. If just reading about Vance didn’t already stop your heart that is.
After discovering she is a Witch Portia Mullins is thrown through a series of loops while she basks in learning about magic and becomes better aquatinted with the mysterious Vance Magnum life is good. But not for long, Without giving to much away, Portia has to learn how to use her powers to save the ones she loves and even when the storm calms its not over through out the series she has to deal with the death of coven members the betrayal and redemption of her best friend and the person she loves most falling into the hands of dark magic. Vance turned demon by his father must battle his inner darkness and conquer his instincts in order to save the one he loves and in the end have what they always dreamed of.
This series is a pure work of art, I am not joking when I say you need to go out and read these books. Whether you own a kindle or your would rather have a paperback novel in your hands the books are available in both formats. You will laugh with the characters cry with them, feel there joy and even though its all over you’ll go on your knees to Lacey begging for more.
The books are honestly so good that two months later the final line of her last book still rings in my head.

*sigh* I just finished the last book of the series and I'm happy and sad. Overall, I liked the general concept of the story. *SPOILER ALERT* This couple goes through Hell and back and survives. They faced unimaginable obstacles and in the end, lived to be happy. They finish high school and move on to higher education and even get pregnant. HOWEVER, I am completely left hanging. How is everything so fine and dandy when Vance is still a demon? On top of that, he took all of Portia's powers while she herself was an uncontrollable, raging, demon. Wouldn't he be more evil now? And then they're pregnant. Won't this baby have evil tendancies with a demon father? And if Vance took all her powers, how does Portia all of a sudden hear his thoughts??? I mean this was like the end of the Thriller video when MJ looks back with scary eyes at us as if to say, "this ain't over, bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!" Ahhhhhhhhh! How is this the last book???? *sigh* I'm going to miss reading about how many ways Vance can abuse Portia and have her willingly let him out of "love." Ok, not really, I AM, however, sad about how this all ended. I'd hoped all the suffering would have showed to have been worth it all. I mean, I guess that's my issue, always wanting the ideal resolution, but I'd hoped at the end, Vance and Portia would have gone back to happy witch and warlock. No demons, no Awakening, no evil, but them still who they were born to be. Free to live the lives Vance dreamed of from the start. Oh well....
No freaking way can the series stop there. We're finally just getting started! I loved the ending to this one and I also loved that Vance got his own couple of chapters at the end. This has to be either joint favourite with the first or my favourite book of the series.
A lot seemed to happen in this one despite this one being slightly shorter than the others. I loved Portia more in this than in any of the others and if I'm honest I wish that this had happened sooner so that we could see more of what happens next.
I'm speechless. My heart has been broken and is now whole again and I just.. I just can't.
Possession of Souls is the fifth book in Lacey Weatherford's YA paranormal series, Of Witches and Warlocks. This is the final installment of Vance and Portia's breathtaking love story. They not only have to deal with life and death situations, but also their relationship with each other as they are being held captive.
This book will have you in suspense the entire time, wondering what will happen next. The stresses of their situation leave Vance and Portia struggling with their own relationship, and these scenes between them seem just as dire as the life and death situations.
Vance has had such a burden put on him, it would make any normal person go crazy. He grows a lot in this book, putting aside his wants and needs in order to do what he thinks is right. It takes a lot of work and effort to get past his inner demon. Every thing that he goes through just makes you love him even more.
Vance and Portia are one of my favorite book-couples of all time, but I am glad that things weren't blissful between them 100% of the time. These obstacles made the book that much more interesting and suspenseful, and also made their love even stronger. Despite everything, their connection was sizzling more than ever. They had some HOT, yet PG scenes.
This book takes you on another amazing roller coaster ride of emotions. There were happy moments, sad moments, sweet moments, sexy moments... The ending left me speechless - I feel like I really can't say much more without giving anything away. I just want to say that this may be the best Young Adult series that I have read, the writing and emotion put into these stories is just amazing. I'm really sad to see this series end – I feel like I actually know these characters and I'm going to miss reading about them. If you like any kind of paranormal romances, even if you're not a young adult anymore, I seriously suggest you giving this series a try. I don't think you'll regret it.
In the last book, I really started to dislike Vance. I felt he was selfish and really enjoying his life a demon. He was almost abusive to Portia and it was his way or no way. This book really redeemed him. He set aside his selfishness and tried to be the real Vance. He took Portia's feelings into consideration and did what was best for both of them.
I really enjoyed the ending. I really didn't see the ending happening until right as it did. This book keeps you constantly in suspense, wondering what is going to happen next. I absolutely loved this series and I am sad it has ended.
As with the other books in this series, I flew through this book. I won't give the ending away but I was both happy and sad at the way the series ended. My biggest hope is that Ms. Weatherford will write another sequel in this series as it appears (to me) that she has left the door open for that to happen. I loved this series and would highly recommend it for anyone who likes magical or paranormal fiction. I just would like MORE books from this author!!
I loved the series but the thing that really annoys me is that there is a massive question hanging in my mind about the ending. Has portia regenerated her magic and will there be a sequel because if there isn't going to be one. Then I have to say I'm going to hate the ending. Period.
I am really sad to say that I was disappointed with the ending of this series. I felt that the entire book was draggy and the twists and extra characters really did not add on.
In the beginning, Portia and Vance are in captive with Damien. The first quarter of the book is with them trying to escape and some smooching. I felt that the entire captivity was very dull. There was just torturing and Damien turning incredibly evil. Portia's blood being lusted after over and over again. It just felt repetitive. I frankly just skipped over this part of the book because I wanted to finish the series and hope it would get better.
Unfortunately, the book by mid way does not get much better. We get to see more of Damien his horrendous torturing of the people around him. I feel that why did we drag this evil guy for five books. We are just hoping for him to be killed or something like that. Things happen. Portia and Vance are ever put to the test. I just felt again, it was dragged.
I was hoping that by the ending something would be clamatic. Honestly, I felt the ending was just rushed. It felt like why did we wait for the final scene after spending so much time with the characters. The unexpected twists and turns at the end was like just enough for me. I almost wanted to not finish it.
On the plus side, I love the strength Vance and Portia have. They are incredibly strong and you can see their true character. Their character really shined throughout the book. As a couple, I think that this is where they are the strongest. I am happy that they finally ended up the way that I am rooting them for. Of course, there are some extremely passionate scenes. Boy, I wanted to combust. What is it with this couple and the way they kiss. Vance is just an extremely skilled kisser.
The writing of this book is another plus. I felt that Weatherford did a great job telling the story despite the draggy plot line. I felt that Portia's voice was great. I sometimes wish though that we had gotten more of Vance. Having more Vance would have been cool.
Overall, I had some mixed feelings of this book. I felt that there were some parts lacking. However, the reason this book received three stars is due to enjoying the previous books. I have to say that despite the disappointing ending, this series is one of the best I read.
I find myself torn on how I feel about this series. The first two books, I loved. After that....I found myself just to keep reading just to see how it ends. I went from loving this couple together and understanding why Portia loved him and didn't give up on him to then wishing she would. I also went from liking Vance to not at all. This series started out so good only to end with me thinking "really?" Portia loses all the special things about her that no one else had and becomes human. Selfishly I was hoping it would end cheesy and Vance getting the awakening back and both of them being able to just be themselves and live a long, happy life together. Overall the series was okay. Glad that I read them, but wished it ended differently.

This series is honestly one of my favorites and I’m sad that it is ending because it left such a cliffhanger and I got so into their story that it felt like it was me there and now idk what to do with my life 😭😫
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The finale escalates to an all-out battle between good and evil with high emotional and supernatural stakes. Portia and Vance face manipulation, captivity, and life-altering decisions that push their love and powers to the limit. The novel delivers a dramatic climax with intense action, sacrifice, and resolution, tying up the series’ major arcs. Fans of paranormal romance that blends dark fantasy with passionate relationships will find this conclusion satisfying and emotionally charged.
Again, hiding cause I can't review this one without spoilers for the previous! While I was very happy to see the Coven welcoming Vance back among them (not with them again but just as a friend and family) and I was happy to see Vance becoming his old self again there was also a lot that I wasn't happy with at the end! I had really hoped that Vance could be saved as in cured, espeacially when I heard what his father was chasing after, I really hoped that Portia could have grabbed the box from Damian and asked Hecate to cure Vance and her father, making them Warlocks again instead of demons but no, she lost the awakening and ended up converting to a demon. On the plus side, Damien is well and truly gone! He lost the awakening himself and was killed for good! Also Vance, while still a demon, is back to his old self and has regained most of his humanity to the point he's doing good with his powers now and is back at school and holding down a job, so a lot of the dreams he thought were lost to him are coming true, plus he still has Portia but she no longer has any magic because he had to take it away to save her. I love that we got Vance's narration at the end, he may have started the series as the opening prologue of the first book was in his view but everything between that first opening prologue and the end of this book has been Portia's narration. However the end of this makes me wonder if maybe they'll get another series? The very last line just made me wonder if Portia was getting her magic back and what that meant for them? Is she going to go demon again or is she cured and does that mean they can cure Vance and return to the coven again? I kinda hope that there is another series even if it's short, prehaps from Vance's viewpoint where he is cured once and for all. As for a lot of the other characters, I'm happy how things worked out for them as well, except Portia's dad who sacraficed himself to save them all and destroy Damien. I would definetly recommend this book and the series. I was worried that Vance and Portia wouldn't survive together or be together so I'm really glad to see that their love did survive and they are still a couple, after all regardless of magical abilities soulmates are soulmates and those two are definetly soulmates!

Oh goodness this series has been one crazy ride and I have absolutely loved it! So much happened in this book: happy and sad. I was a little worried about where this would go, but in the end I loved it. There were a lot of twists and turns and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Just omg I don't even know what to say after reading that, it was really a roller coaster. So I am not going to say much more in terms of plot because I don't want to ruin anything about this amazing series. One last comment: the villain in this book was so evil and was absolutely disgusting, I so wanted to be sick multiple times.
Portia was pretty dang amazing in this book. I had my doubts because her and Vance's co-dependent relationship was scaring me a little. I felt like things were getting twisted, but in the end Portia fought for what she wanted and she was so strong. She really loved Vance and she sacrificed a lot for him and it was kind of amazing to see. Vance still annoyed me somewhat in this book because I hate his demon side and it was really taking over in this book and there were some things he did that really made me mad. Portia & Vance's relationship has always been really intense and this book put that to the test. I can't say that I am at all disappointed with what happened. This series has been such a trial for them and I am glad I got to see everything they have gone through. I really love them and their relationship. There were times I didn't like how either of them were acting, but my faith was eventually restored. Also I am so glad there was more Brad & Shelly in this book because I love them.
I wish I could write more, but I want to stay vague. In all this book was great and I have absolutely adored this series. Thank Lacey Weatherford for your awesomeness! YOU NEED TO READ IT NOW! So now I am eagerly awaiting the spin-off series :)
Possession of Souls is sadly the last of the Of Witches and Warlocks series by author Lacey Weatherford. This series,as a whole, has been a wonderful story and Possession of Souls was a fabulous ending to it. As with the others in the series, Lacey has a way of drawing her readers in and holding them hostage until the very last word. Every book is full of action and emotion and drama, and this last one is no exception.
Vance and Portia are an epic couple in the young adult fantasy genre. By this book, Portia has truly come into her own as a woman, even as young as she is. At the beginning, she was a bit on the meek side, always taking direction from Vance and deferring to him always. That irritated the independent woman that I am, but it was absolutely perfect for her character and her role in the story. But now, Portia has become strong both in herself and in her powers. I have loved the progression of her character! Vance began as a bit on the arrogant side, I felt, always sure he knew what was best and demanding things go as he wished. Because of his backstory, that attitude completely fit the story, even if he tended to make me bristle. But it didn't matter, because Vance was still adorable and sexy!! Like Portia, he grew over the course of the series, becoming more open and more accepting.
Lacey's characters are all amazing, whether main or supporting, whether you loved or hated them. They make you feel, and I love that in a novel. I think that this book is my favorite of the series, with more twists and turns, more action and drama, and a roller coaster of emotions. The ending was completely unexpected, and I loved it. Even the ending had its own twists and turns and literally kept you guessing to the very last words.
I rounded the rating up because after 4 books (this being the 5th) I couldn't take it any more.
The twists add to this book series stopped being quite so original, though they did get you emotionally. As the final book in the series, things really get tough and there is no sacrifice too small. Much like the other books Portia's undying devotion to Vance gets a but frustrating and really puts the other people she says she loves at risk. Although many people end up paying a very high cost for Portia to maintain her vows, I suppose in the end it all works out.
There were a few loose ends that I didn't understand (SPOILER ALERT). The biggest concern being, at the end of the book, the author definitely tries to mislead you. Though they're together; doesn't Vance have the power to regenerate continually? It would make sense, that like vampires or werewolves, or even Wolverine himself this power would mean he can expect to have a long life span. How will he deal with his mortal wife?
Anyhow, my interesting and love for this series definitely petered out as the stories went on. That was disappointing, though I do like that the ending mostly accounted for everything. I didn't like how the monotone Portia was, or how bi-polar Vance seemed...or how completely giving the rest of the coven was (especially given everything they had been through). However, these are the same complaints I've had for the past few books so no surprise (unfortunately) there.
I Received An ARC Of This Book In Exchange For My Honest Review!
I can't believe this is the final book in the series. From the first book in this series all the way to the last book in the series I was addicted. Vance and Portia have a love that envelopes them and at times it consumes them.
This is the most suspenseful of all the books which it to be expected with it being the last book. I never knew what was gonna happen next and was on the edge of my seat while reading and waiting to find out.
Danger finds them again in this book and you won't believe who it is. Vance and Portia go through so much when they are being held captive. They are put into many life and death situations and have some very hard choices to make. Though there are many sad parts there are just as many happy moments.
This book is a good end to the series. It does a great job of wrapping up the story. It does leave the reader with an unanswered question. This makes you wonder what it means.
Thank you Lacey so much for taking me on such a wonderful journey. Vance and Portia have touched me and will always be one of my most favorite couples. I hate to see this series come to an end and hope that one day we might get more in this series. Make sure you read these books if you haven't yet. You're really missing out on some wonderful books that will transport you to another place while reading.
What a truly edge of your seat twisted thriller this series turned out to be. I will admit I was a little hesitant in the beginning but my belief in this series being something more won me over and I became taken over by these books. I loved every minute of Portia and Vance and was totally thrilled that their story had some ups and downs and hardships just like everyone else does. They band together and took on each obstacle that hit their path in stride. I do believe that true love conquers all and that sometimes it's all you have left to hold on to. I can't give details about this the last of the series Possession of Souls for fear of releasing HUGE spoiler alerts. I will finish this up by saying I would love to see more come from this as my heart feels like Portia and Vance may have a little more to say about things. Lacey Weatherford as made a believer out of me I will be looking forward to more writings from her in the near future!
From the beginning of the series.Vance was and still the most selfish, obnoxious, stupid person in the story, the most antipathetic character I ever stumbled into.... If I were Portia, I would've killed the bastard in book 02, and kept cursing the day I lay my eyes on him. I mean he keep hurting her, and she keep going back to him. The girl have no self respect what so ever. It made so mad I wanted to stop reading the series, but I couldn't because I still want to know how will it end. I hope Vance dies. OH my gosh, almost had a heart attack I really thought Portia was lost to us Love ya Portia
My thoughts: Damien is back, Shelly is psychic, Brad is still human, Vance is still a demon, and Portia is still trying to save him. The tables turn and now it's Vance's turn to save Portia. Can he make the biggest sacrifice of all? Do NOT miss out on this thrilling, action-packed finale.
Lacey Weatherford has outdone herself on this one! This is the ultimate love story. The depth of Portia and Vance's love is incredible to witness. Lacey Weatherford is truly a Wordsmith, a story teller at heart. Hold on tight when you sit down with this last installment of the Of Witches and Warlocks series because it will twist you around, raise you up and throw you down! This is a one-of-a-kind emotional roller coaster that knows no mercy.
I hate to review books from series alone--especially when it is a series like this--if you judge a book alone, it is going to be a bad review. But the story in this series is really good, it is just the writing that is mediocre. I mean, really bad. I wanted to like this writer because I think she has a great idea and her characters are interesting. Her infantile writing however makes it a bit rough to stomach. Repeat scenes, stilted conversation--the main squeeze says "I love you, Baby." so many times I was sick of it and I'm a romantic! Even the descriptive portions were immature--a good editor would help these books so much. But I am a sucker for a story and read them all so I could see how it ended.
I really enjoyed the turn this book took. The rest of the series has been pretty predictable, and even though a few curveballs were tossed my way, I was expecting more.
I enjoyed getting to know Damien more. Not that he was a character I wanted to get up close and personal with, but I loved to see just how wicked and a little crazy he really was. This book hit me on an emotional level because by now I've come to love the characters, and to see them suffer in anyway broke my heart.
There were many surprise twists and turns, and even though this story had a happy ending, it was a bittersweet one. It proved that even if good conquers evil there will be casualties, and it all comes at a high price.
Geez...this last book in the series had my head spinning. I totally was not expecting what went down. The whole time I was reading with my mouth open in shock. Between people getting kidnapped and people turning into demons, I was like s***. At the end, I had tears running down my face because Vance had no choice but to turn Portia into a demon and as soon as he did, Portia was out of control. Vance continues to profess his love to Portia and saying how sorry he was. At one point in the book, I thought he had killed her to put her out of her misery, but as I read on it become clear to me. Vance had taken all of her powers from her which made her a complete human. All five books had me reading, reading, and reading. This author is such an amazing writer

I got this book from the author free of cost in exchange of an honest review from my side. Firstly I would like to thank the author and the publisher for giving me this opportunity of reading and reviewing this fabulous book. Squealing with joy!!! It’s fab!!! OMG, the author just made me cry in happiness. I loved the ending, loved it!!! Great plot and the characters just went on getting flourished and showed the readers the hidden aspect of their nature. I love Vance!!! Portia is great as well. There is power-packed action and the suspense, oh my god!!! The suspense will kill you, for sure. Go ahead and check it out now!!!
So after the last book, I was really putting all my hopes into this one, desperately not wanting it to be as terrible as the last. I was pleasantly surprised. I loved this book because Vance took control! He became the person from the first book, the one we all loved and adored, and who wanted nothing more than to protect Portia—even more than blood. It brought the sense of equal love, that transcended all things. It brought back the glimmer of respect I had lost for both Portia and Vance. And honestly? I was really glad when she became human at the end. Why? Because they could be HAPPY now! Give them a rest, Lacey, I think they've been through enough.
Lacey Weatherford has done it again. I have officially dubbed her The Queen of Cliffhangers. Once again Lacey has enchanted us with the love story of Vance and Portia, the hottest couple in fiction. I have to be honest, during the first half of the book I was worried that Vance would not return to the loving and wonderful Vance that we know, but my worries were null and void. I love that it was the power of Portia's love that was able to redeem him. It's just one more example from this series of how strong their love is. I am beyond happy that this is not the last we will see of those two.

I didn't like the previous book in the series, the character of Vance was completely ruined. I really enjoyed the first 3 books but when she turned Vance into a total jerk it ruined the reason to root for them as a couple. Most of this book was more of the same and I started to not care about the story because it didn't seem to have a point. The ONLY thing good about this book was the last 25% when the author finally tried to redeem Vance back into a shadow of his original character. The end was very satisfying but it took too much agony to get there.
