Published in the US under the name Flint's Law.

Grace Flint: The best undercover cop in the business and - since plastic surgeons re-built her shattered face - probably the most beautiful. Now Flint has a new career running operations, and she's running headlong into trouble.
Operation Pentecost: An elaborate sting designed by Flint to trap Karl Kremer, former East German spy turned financial manipulator. But Pentecost has become a snare for Flint's undercover agents. One agent is already dead, and the evidence of treachery is mounting.
Mandrake: MI6 codename for the traitor close enough to Flint to anticipate her every move. Who is Mandrake and who in the US government is determined to protect him? In Paul Eddy's stunning second novel Grace Flint is back in the firing line, tougher, bolder (and in more trouble) than before.

I liked this one too but not quite as much as the first. Grace is tricked unforgivably in this story and its another search for revenge. She's now working in the US - I admit I didn't get how she'd managed to wrangle that - and with the same people - but it was still exciting.

In Paul Eddy's follow-up to Flint, tenacious former London police officer Grace Flint has remarried and is now working full time for Aldus Cutter and the U.S. Financial Strike Force.

On the trail of Karl Gröber, a notorious money-launderer and former officer in the East German Stasi, Flint's world comes undone when Gröber murders the agent she has sent undercover into his organization and escapes the grasp of law enforcement. Her judgment in the operation now questioned, things get even darker for Flint when it begins to appear that her new husband, Ben, has been leaking information to Gröber. Worse still, Ben has disappeared.

But Grace Flint has never taken defeat lightly, and with fury that her entire marriage may have been a sham, she is soon on the trail of both Ben and Gröber. Working with German and British intelligence agencies to find the scent, she makes steady progress, but it becomes apparent that the Germans and the Brits may have interests of their own - interests which may be at cross-purposes with Flint's - and which may make them either valuable allies or dangerous foes.

Grace Flint remains a compelling character, and author Eddy further fleshes out the rich supporting cast in a story that moves from New York to the former East Germany to the coast of the Adriatic and on to France. More straight-ahead in its plotting and narrative mechanisms than its predecessor, Flint's Law is a bit more conventional, but every bit as well-written and propellingly readable.

This was an exciting thriller, sometimes with the characters it did get a bit confusing. You really had to stay with the game. At times it did ramble a bit.
This is the second book in the series and you definitely can read & enjoy it without having read the first book. I think there is a third book which I am keen to find.

After finishing this book, I had the following conversation with myself:

Could one of the most elite agents in the CIA really be a British citizen? Aren't they all Americans?
What do you know about the CIA though? If they had British citizens as elite agents, you'd be the last to know.
True... but it's still a pretty thin plot

But what can I expect from a book I randomly picked from our firm's paperback library, right?

The first of Eddy's series was a stay up all night page turner. In comparison, Flint's Law was pretty ho-hum. It was difficult to imagine that such an intuitive and experienced investigator could be so thoroughly hoodwinked. And within Any job such as hers, there would be an on-going background check on spouses, etc. This thriller didn't thrill me.

Maybe it's because I'm also currently watching the entire series of Alias, but I love reading about women who kick ass. Don't get me wrong, Grace Flint is definitely flawed, but her life makes for an enjoyable read.

How could I not enjoy a book bought in Quito that includes the Audubon society in it?
