A short story from the Walker series. The first chapters of URBAN SHAMAN, as seen through Gary’s eyes instead of Joanne’s
Written as flavor text for part of a Kickstarter campaign, this is the first couple chapters of URBAN SHAMAN from Gary’s point of view. (The link goes to the first chapter from the point of view of the Walker Papers’ narrator/main character Joanne Walker :)). Enjoy!
CE Murphy began writing around age six, when she submitted three poems to a school publication. The teacher producing the magazine selected (inevitably) the one she thought was by far the worst, but also told her–a six year old kid–to keep writing, which she has. She has also held the usual grab-bag of jobs usually seen in an authorial biography, including public library volunteer (at ages 9 and 10; it’s clear she was doomed to a career involving books), archival assistant, cannery worker, and web designer. Writing books is better.
She was born and raised in Alaska, and now lives with her family in her ancestral homeland of Ireland.
I forgot how entertaining this world is. This is the first time Gary and Joanne met and it's told from his POV. Of course, he thinks she's crazy: the woman jumped into his cab and made him drive to a place where she saw someone being chased - from a plane.
I found the jem on the author's website. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I loved it.
It's Gary's point of view of the first chapter of Urban Sharman. It's great to see the same story from a different point of view, especially when the main character who sounds 'sort of' sane in the original book can come off really off the mark from the outside view.
I love how Gary observes his 'fare' and starts to care about her. Great addition to the Walker Paper series!
First 2 chapters of ‘Urban Shaman’ from Gary the cabby’s POV. Only goes to when they open the tomb. Mostly just the original dialog with very little added stuff.
Read this one after Mountain Echoes and it was okay. Nothing got spoiled and I loved falling in love with Garrison all over again. Even Cernunnos to a point. Got it read in three days because I just had to find out what happened next. Or before. Or that other time.
Anyway! Loved it. I'll love reading it again while I wait for the next and last (really? last?) in this series. Love. Love. Love. Did I mention I love it?
