Holy hell this was annoying AF. The plot was ZZzzz, and the mc’s SUCKED… and we spend the majority of the book stuck in their heads with their ENDLESS inner pity-party musings. This is my third book from this author, and I think we’re just not a good fit… but I’m dedicated to working through my TBR and have had these for many years. SPOILERS…..
Before the book starts, Adam (mate and unborn child murdered years earlier) and Bay hooked up while he was away, and he freaked (because he was forgetting/replacing his wife) and ghosted her after drunken mating her. The book opens with a VERY pregnant Bay tracking Adam down because something is hunting her.
My biggest issue were the main characters. I liked neither….
Adam is miserable because he can’t deal with the death of his wife… 20 YEARS earlier!! Argh! He’s either being an ass or whining about his dead mate.
He’s so so so sad his wife died.
It’s so so so unfair his wife died.
It’s all too much… grow a pair Adam. I wanted to throat punch him most of the book. Whine…poor me…whine… poor me.
Bay is pathetic and her name bugged me…. Which could be because I couldn’t stand her, but also because of me constantly picturing Bae. (like my bae/boo) She’s miserable because her life is so hard.
She’s so so sad that Adam doesn’t want her.
She’s so so lonely.
She’s either feeling sorry for herself, begging Adam for scraps, or lying her ass off. I couldn’t get over that she kept lying about who was after her because it made zero sense (because they already have a ½ demon member in their pack) and they were blindsided by an attack where a toddler was almost killed by having all his bones broken. Whine…poor me… wanna have sex… whine…poor me.
Bottom Line-The “flow” was off. Parts were repetitive, parts were slow, random flashbacks aren’t smooth, character’s feelings jump around abruptly with no real reason.
I read this a while ago, just polishing my review...
Bay and Adam had a ONS before the story starts and he takes off after drunkenly mating her. His first mate and child were murdered 20 years ago. Twenty years later and he's not processed his grief at all. Now Bay shows up at this pack, pregnant and in desperate need of help.
The world building by this author is lackluster at best and I'm too tired to bother getting into it. Stuff happens, Adam pushes Bay away in a rinse and repeat pattern. He treats bay like second class citizen, then grovels, ignores her some more on the off chance her and her baby will go away, grovels again, sulks some more, etc... Bay, although she talks about him needing to earn her trust, was a waffler. Two seconds later he's forgiven.... AGAIN. Sheesh! How many times is she going to let him treat her crap on his dead mate's shoe. What a doormat. She's a kick ass kinda gal except with Adam... Not that I want her to punch him (much), but to just have some self respect. Maybe force him to do some grief counselling... something! I hate it when authors have characters talk one way and act another. It's confusing, annoying and ultimately DISAPPOINTING! Even worse, it's not romantic, just kinda pathetic. Even with the short story that follows this one, I have no faith that Adam cares for Bay as much as he did Anna. He's such a whiner. BUT There is a short story "forgiveness" that reads like the epilogue that this novel REALLY needed. (It would have added a star if it had been included).
My biggest complaint overall is, why didn't he didn't move Bay to a new house with all new furniture. I mean the poor (rather pathetic) woman has Psychometric powers and can read from objects when she touches them. All day long every day she'll get to sense his first wife and his huge LURVE for her from everything she touches ! A better ending for a psychometrically talented heroine is in If He's Tempted by Hannah Howell.

The hero was like a brat.I understand that he lost the most precious thing he ever had but fate gave him a second chance and he was like"I don't want her I want Anna".What the heck???It's better to have something than have nothing. He got a second chance and he really ruined it.I have seen children behaving better than him!!!And he was so mean...What I mean is that he left the heroine pregnant and throughout the book he was like he had no responsibility.GROW UP....She didn't get pregnant alone you stupid a******!!!!
Adam Jamieson is the Enforcer for the Redwood pack, but he is a broken man, he has suffered the brutal murder of his mate and his unborn child and isn't interested in anything apart from protecting his pack and he certainly isn't interested in Bay Milton, a mistake he made 8 months ago, no matter what his wolf says, she isn't his mate. When Bay shows up at his home 8 months pregnant with the Centrals after her, he must decide whether he can put his past behind him and start looking to the future with Bay.
This is my first Carrie Ann Ryan book and I just wished I liked it more, as although there were aspects of this that I did like unfortunately none of these aspects had anything to do with the main couple and the romance between them.
Adam and Bay just didn't do it for me, Adam although I felt sympathy for him for what he had been through was still an asshat for a lot of Enforcer's Redemption, to only then do a complete 360 and I just didn't buy it, I couldn't figure out when he got to know Bay and fall in love with her. I was close to liking Bay, until she decided she was in love with Adam despite the fact he was cruel to her, why would she like him, let alone love him?! It made me dislike her and doubt her sense.
But, what I did like about this was the plot going around the central romance, I wanted to see what would happen and what the evil demon Caym and his pet pack had under their sleeves. I was also curious about the previous couples as I haven't read the other books in this series and about who I imagine the next couple will be. So although I didn't get on with this book, I would give this series a second chance and give on of the earlier books a go.
The hero of ENFORCER'S REDEMPTION broke my heart every time he emotionally hurt the heroine. I still love this series and world building but feel sad for the heroine in this romance.
Let me first acknowledge I adore this series. I've loved the great world building, the community feel of the werewolf pack and the heartfelt, sexy romances. So I was awaiting this book anxiously and had high hopes.
Adam, the hero, broke my heart every single time he hurt Bay. And let me tell you, it was constant! He'd push her away and then cozy up to her with promises of trying harder to change, only to repeat the process. Bay wasn't a wimp, though, she said all the right things to try to make Adam take responsibility for his actions but he'd just break her heart again and again. I've rarely had such an emotional response to a heroine's heartache as I had in this book. Bay was so emotionally vulnerable to Adam that it was exceedingly painful to watch Adam hurt her with words and his emotional and physical desertion. And for me Adam's capitulation wasn't long or deep enough. I understand Adam's pain but didn't think he truly deserved Bay's devotion, not because of his past but because of his present behavior. As you can tell, this romance deeply affected me and I wish I could say it was positive because I loved both these characters.
So as conflicted as I was about Adam and Bay's romance, the werewolf war and Redwood Pack make a compelling reason to read this book. The Redwood Pack's war with the demonic Central Pack is sinister and mysterious. I love all the wolves in the Redwood Pack and eagerly anticipate all the brothers' stories. This is a wonderful series paranormal fans will adore as I do.
Redwood Pack fans must read ENFORCER'S REDEMPTION for its plot developments but be prepared for some visceral reactions to Adam and Bay's romance.
This is my first read by this author. Overall, I thought the plot was engrossing. I loved the initial setup of the romance between the MC’s (I’m a sucker for rejected mate and H pining for dead wife tropes), but I didn’t feel the chemistry between them. There were some issues with plot continuity, typos, and abrupt changes in the characters’ emotions and feelings that made little sense. Adam went from hate to love very abruptly. I was not a fan of his character. Despite being 100 years-old he showed very little emotional maturity and he acted like he was a victim in a situation he was the catalyst for. I really loved Bay’s pragmatism at first, but I couldn’t believe how readily she accommodated Adam once he finally decided he wanted her.
So, overall the plot was excellent, but the romance was poorly executed in my opinion. The characters’ motives made little sense and their changes in perspective were too abrupt. I may give the next book in the series a chance.

This was an extremely difficult book for me to read. I felt not only did Adam disrespect Bay but so did his entire family with the exception of Maddox. Bay did nothing to deserve their suspicion. She came to the Redwood pack 8 months pregnant....what did they think she was hiding up her shirt?? Why did they have to act like she was a criminal? They happily accepted each of the other mates with little effort from them but Bay was ignored and looked down on for something she had no control over. She saved Adam and Micah with NO help from the mighty Jamenson pack. And she shed her blood to keep the entire pack safe. And I really hated that after 20 YEARS Adam still hasn't moved forward with his life at all, and his entire family acted like that was perfectly acceptable behavior. I have lost people I love and I mourn them to this day but even with the loss that goes right to the morrow of my soul; I have moved on with my life to the best of my ability. Adam broke my heart over and over again with his horrible treatment of Bay. I understand that he loved Anna but his treatment of Bay was unnecessarily harsh, he MATED her so he needed to step up and accept his responsiblities. I actually found myself hating most of the Jamensons' for the way they essentially disregarded Bay, these people are supposed to be all about the importance of "mates" and yet they made no effort to include Bay into their family. She spent most of her time as basically a prisoner under the watchful eye of whichever member of the family was guarding her. Why is it so hard to understand that someone that has spent their whole life alone would be a little afraid and unable to openly share their personal secrets? But Bay so wanted to be accepted that she willingly let them treat her like someone less important just so they would give her and her unborn baby a chance. I don't recall any of the other "Mates" being treated so badly even Josh who was turned into a Demon and Ellie who is the sister of the pack enemy are treated better. I want to like this story but my heart just hurts at how poorly Bay was treated by her "mate" and his family. I will continue to follow this series simply because I did enjoy the past stories and hope that the Redwood pack can redeem themselves with Maddox and North's stories.
I love the Redwood Pack series. I have devoured each and every single one of them. A couple of them, more than once. I was, however, very nervous about this book. I am not a fan of Adam. I know, I am the only person who has read these books who does not like him. He is most people's fave. I must have issues ;). Through the first three books I found him to be a weak shell of a man and very selfish. I had no investment in him finding love or anything else for that matter. I could not see myself loving this book. I was so wrong.
Do not let that fool you into thinking that I am saying I loved Adam from page one. I for certain sure did not. He was everything I pegged him to be, but underneath was the man he was and could be and throughout this book we began to see more and more of that mane. By the end I had grown to love him and the book's title was a perfect fit.
This book has a very different love story from the first mating we saw. It was not the same kind of "wow, what a perfect love" situations and that made it fascinating to me. Oh the evilness of the Centrals was still there. They truly are evil, too. I cried. I usually do not look at that a a positive thing when I read, but in this case, it totally was. I was so completely immersed in this story that I felt what the characters felt. BLOWN AWAY!
I can not wait until the next book comes out! I do so love this series! Oh and it has some sneaks in it of some other great reads!
I was so lucky to have read a prerelease date ARC of this book.
Omg. This is the best redwood story so far. I don't have favourite because I love them all but hated how much of an ass Adam at the start was but in other redwood books he wasn’t as much as a dick. I knew he could be a great guy, happy and loving if he gave himself a chance. I was totally shock with the ending but loved how it turned Adam and the whole family into a stronger better pack. All the way through book tho I just wanted Maddox to do something with Ellie it killed me all through book with angry looks and avoiding eye contact. Can't wait for next book with Hannah Josh and reed you just knew something was going on all way through book but not sure what. If I could have given more than 5 stars I would have. Awesome.
Title: Enforcer's Redemption Series: Redwood Pack Book 4 Author: Carrie Ann Ryan Publisher: Fated Desires Publishing LLC Published: 10-27-2012 Pages: 256 E-Book ASIN B009Y72FS0 Genre: Romance, Paranormal, Shapeshifters
Living In The Past
Adam Jamenson had it all one time. The beautiful love of his life, his wife Anna and a special blessing of a child on the way. Then it was all taken away from him. His pregnant wife had been taken, tortured and murdered before he could get to her. His guilt has eaten him alive. At the end of book three he had left the pack to get himself together. Yt when he came back he seemed agried and in more pain than ever. No one ever asked where he went or what happened while he was away and Adam never told. Now his secrets have followed him home eight months later.
Bay Milton is in desperate need of help. Someone is hunting her and she doesn't know who or why. She is headed to the Redwood Pack territory to the only one she can think of. After all it is his fault she can't defend herself. Arriving unannounced Bay asks to see the Jamenson, worried the centuries would kill her for the outsider she really was, even though their senses tell them she is part of the pack. When she is allowed into the den she pulls up to where a party is be held and a group of men come towards her car, the Alpha in the lead and HIM!
Told to get out of the car and explain herself Bay exits the car and tells them she needs to see Adam. They are all shocked to see she is in late stages of pregnancy and look to Adam for answers. Adam is furious that his chickens have come to roost. How could this woman be pregnant with his child? There is no way they could be mated. It was just a dream. Apparently not, but what else is Bay hiding from him and the pack? Forced to take her into his home to protect her until the baby is born and they can take care of the threat to her and the baby; then she would leave and he could be with his memories of Anna.
This is a story that will take you through a full range of emotions from laughter to tears, from anger at Adam for his callousness to pride in Bay for her strength of character. So much is going on in this installment of the Redwood pack series that you will not be able to put it down. A warning to every reader the ending is a shocker so be ready. Thank you Ms. Ryan for one of the best Redwood Pack novels yet. Enforcer's Redemption can be purchased or in Volume 3 which also contains the next book in the series Blurred Expectations. It is my recommendation that you start with Book 1, An Alpha's Path and read the books in order. This is such a wonderful series you will not want to miss any of them.
This is my first Carrie Ann Ryan book and I think I'm in the minority when I say that I didn't really like this one. The story itself was good, but the romance was severely lacking. Twenty years earlier, Adam lost his mate, Anna. Eight months before the story begins, he actually mated with Bay (yes, HE started the mating process, not her) and doesn't realise about the child until Bay turns up to their pack pregnant. While I understood his initial reluctance with Bay and mating again after losing his Anna, my sympathy ran out pretty damn quickly when all he did was bitch about how Bay wasn't Anna and he was never going to love her. For the majority of the book, he treated Bay terribly, was always leaving her and although she made a few attempts and growing a backbone, the mating bond was just 'too strong' so she succumbed pretty damn quickly to him and forgave him over and over again. When the author gets ALL the characters in the book to go on and on about how wonderful and saint-like Anna was to Bay for pretty much the whole book, how, as a reader, am I supposed to believe that Bay holds her own place in his heart that isn't overshadowed by the love of his life? How the fuck is this romance? At the end, he suddenly has this complete change of heart and says he loves Bay. Yes he does the 'I'm sorry' thing, but his words mean jackshit when his actions clearly state otherwise. No matter how many times he said the words, I never really believed it. Bay was way too forgiving and Adam was undeserving. The author was great at writing angst, but redemption? Sadly, not.
I wanted to like this book, I enjoyed the other three in the series so far...but, sadly, I could not. I just didnt get Adam (our alpha) and his treatment of our heroine Bay. Basically Adam has had a hard life, his wife and child were killed 20 years ago - now he has the chance at a family again with Bay Milton, and he just treats her like shit. I get that he is broken, I get that he feels if he loves again he will get hurt...but seriously - don't be an asshat for the majority of the book. And then there was Bay, all confident (kinda) and take charge (kinda), and yet she hangs round this broken, cranky man, even when he is not sure he loves her. I found the whole book very frustrating.
http://www.unbrindelecture.com/2019/1...
I could use just a little less surface level drama with too easy solutions, and a touch more realism in some of the dialogue and conversations. Character say one thing and then literally three seconds later turn around and say the opposite. I don’t love that, but it doesn’t happen all the time. There’s some good here, and I did love the concept for this one once again. I don’t think this series is as strong as the other series that I started by the same author. Her later books definitely seem to get better.
Omfg so many tears, I truly didn't think Adam would find his way out of the dark and into Bay's arms and heart... So glad they found their way but that ending was truly tragic and this series gets more and more heartbreaking!
A man with no love to give gets a second chance but will he take it or turn it away?
Adam Jameson, Enforcer of the Redwood Pack has been struggling for 20 years with the death of his mate and unborn child. A drunken one night stand only made him feel even worse, guilty as if he betrayed his deceased mated. Bay Milton shows up at his Pack, pregnant with his child and with his mate mark looking to Adam for help. Adam is angry and torn between wanting her there and wanting her gone.
Not wanting to accept another mate and more so one pregnant with his child Adam does all he can to push her away, fighting within himself, his wolf even the mating urge. Yet that eventually doesn’t stop him and they give in to the mating. He hlds nothing back when it comes to telling Bay that she was a mistake, that he had a mate and child that even though they had been taken from him. He felt he couldn’t let go and was torn between the past and the present. That he could protect her but could never love her that he didn’t have any love to give her.
I don’t know how Bay did it putting up with being around Adam and the way he treated her, knowing she was doing it to protect their unborn child. Being around a mate that she wanted yet couldn’t have. She could see the battle that he waged within himself, feeling he didn’t deserve a second chance. However, this was about protecting her unborn child and her heart and not holding out for a mate that didn’t want her. She was strong at times and would stand up to Adam, but yet when it came to him she would fold and give in to him at the same time it was so frustrating at the same time for me as a reader.
However when Adam walks out after their son is born, she had enough and stands up to him. Yet he still continues to act standoffish, when he finally realizes that he does love her and he needs to let go of the past the enemy is there to take what is his. Just like the last time, except Bay isn’t one to stand down she is a strong woman and a strong wolf, and more. Heck she had to be to put up with him! That is what I liked about her as much as she wanted to give up she knew she couldn’t.
In the end Bay ended up saving Adam in more ways than one and I was glad that he finally did find it in himself to grieve for what he lost and move forward. I can understand why Ms. Ryan had such a hard time writing Adam’s story, he was not an easy man to begin with but I am glad that he did finally let go of the past and had such a strong woman in Bay, even if you were an ass Adam, I forgive you too.
We all deserve that second chance at life and love and Carrie Ann Ryan did an AMAZING job with Adams story and I am so glad he got his “redemption”!!!
When I received Adam’s story I was jumping for joy and couldn’t wait to read the next installment in the Redwood Pack series. We meet Adam in book 1 and get glimpses of him through out the series and we know his story from previous books but we don’t know how deep it goes till we get to his book and O boy does it go deep.
Adam is one very tortured soul and who can blame him but the question you ask yourself is “will anyone be able to heal his broken heart and soul?” well the answer comes in Enforcer’s Redemption.
Again I don’t do spoilers so I have to keep this very blurry so I don’t give anything away. Bay shows up needing not only Adam’s help but his packs. She has a surprise for Adam and a secret that she still doesn’t have all the answers about but she knows if she doesn’t get help she will die.
Just when we think that Adam can find “Happily Ever After” his stubborn butt runs again. This book is definitely a page turner and as much as I wanted to savor it I just couldn’t. I had to see what was is going to happen next.
One thing I like is we get a few more glimpses of the members in the pack that will be getting their own books soon and I love that Carrie Ann has me guessing what she is going to do next with them. I also love that she doesn’t forget past characters and we get to still see what is happening after their “happily ever afters” happen. Which to me is the best part about a series.
This book has a few twists and turns but its written so well that it helps the story along so well that you can see that the direction that “the big picture” is taking is going be a good one.
Bay is a feisty one and Adam is a stubborn one, so while reading I was like “really come on you too, stop being stupid” which is good because that means I am drawn into the story and the characters as if they can actually hear me :) (I can’t be the only one who does this)
Overall I am so happy with this book and where Carrie Ann is taking this series as a whole and I can’t wait for the next installments, All I have to say is, ‘m counting down the days till Maddox’s book and I’ll be begging for an ARC of that one as well. Thank you Carrie Ann for the opportunity to receive an ARC of Enforcer’s Redemption, It was an honor and a privilege to read Adam’s story.
I give Book 4 in the Redwood Pack series, Enforcer’s Redemption 5 out of 5, this series alone has me on the edge of my seat but this installment was one of the more complex ones in the series. I can see Carrie Ann’s writing growing with each page and book.
Bay Milton is on the run. She is being followed, by who she is not sure but she knows that she can't stop running. With her mom dead, now 8 months pregnant and being a werewolf, she is terrified of something and running to the only place she thinks that might be safe, the Red Wood Wolf Pack. She knows they are the strongest in the US and may be the only people who can help her. But will the father of her child welcome her or shun her and drive her away. Adam being a werewolf and losing his family years ago, has been grieving. Seeing his brothers find there life mates and starting families of there own, has been torture. 8 months ago he couldn't take it any more. So driving hundreds of miles away, he finds a bar. One that caters to the paranormal community. The waitress brings him his drink. As his inhibitions go and his grief seems less and less, his wolf senses a potential mate in the waitress. After a night neither could have imagined. Adam's grief comes back with a heavy dose of guilt on top. Adam, ignoring his inner wolf, leaves the woman named Bay and goes back home. Bay thinking she is the happiest she can be and has found her mate, wakes to find Adam leaving her. So as Bay arrives in the Red Wood Pack's home, Adam has to now deal with Bay, a baby on the way, and the past comes roaring back!
Carrie Ann Ryan does it again with book 4 of the Red Wood Pack. We have known Adam for a while and have seen him grieving. Now with his past haunting him and a possible future arriving at his door. Adam needs to decide if it is a future he can do and be the man we all want him to be. I will warn you, if you follow the series, it was a tear jerker for me. I cried for Adam's lost family and for Bay and her future she so desperately wants. I even cussed Adam out a time or two. So we get a better look into the Jamenson family, which I loved. I am really looking forward to #5. Thanks Carrie for making me cry but also making me fall even more in love with this family!

My oh my... can we say I love this woman? This time around Ryan gave us Adam of the Redwood Pack. Adam is... complicated. He's faced so much tragedy and loss that somehow everyone expects him to just have gotten over. The one person in the pack who knows how he feels (it's his job to!) does nothing to help him or get the pack involved in helping him. This does not excuse his behavior towards Bay though! There were times when I wished I could just hug him and tell him it will all be alright in the end (it would have to be otherwise it would suck as a romance novel if the hero didn't get a HEA). But then he would do a complete 180 and act like such an ass that I wondered what anyone saw in him. Then he would go back to being the sweet, if broken, hero again. This imperfect hero is so our of the ordinary in what we, as romance readers have grown to expect, that you can't help be be intrigued by Adam and Bay's story.
I loved Bay's character. She was a strong heroine with a can do attitude who refused to let anyone walk all over her, not even Adam. My only beef with the entire story was that Bay, along with everyone else, seemed to make way too many concessions to Adam's nasty attitude and behavior towards Bay. I don't know about your family, but in mine, if any of the men called the mother of their child a whore or refused to man up, their mother would so be in there making damn sure he knew that was not how she raised him and forcing him to be a man. That wasn't the case here.
So that one tiny thing aside, I loved this book, it was great seeing some of the characters from previous books, and I don't think we've seen the last of Bay's strong nature. I hope to see how hers and Adam's relationship progresses in future Redwood Pack books!
This is the first book that I have read in the Redwood Pack series, even though it is book #4. I hate reading books in a series out of order, but the blurb and the cover caught my attention and I had to read. I cannot resist a broken hero and his heroine trying to heal him!! I definitely think that I would have got more out of the story and the characters if I had read the series in order, but I never felt lost or was unable to follow along while reading.
Oh...I loved Bay and was so shocked when she got out of the car to see Adam. I hadn't been expecting that. lol Ugh...Adam was such an ass~hat, even though I did understand the reason for his conflicting feelings for Bay. Definitely thought she should have kicked him in his junk on more than one occasion!! lol Loved Maddox and can't wait to read what is happening with him, North, and Ellie. I'm also interested to see what the situation is with Hannah, Reed, and Josh that caused Adam to be concerned~he mentioned more than once about the sadness that surrounded them. OMG...I couldn't believe what Carrie did to Adam's character~I had to go back and reread that part just to have it sink in~Jeez...hadn't the man suffered enough!!! (evil little author!! lol)
Great story that kept me entertained till the end and left me wanting more. Adam and Bay's struggle to get their HEA was well worth the journey. I loved the secondary characters (especially Adam's brothers and sister) and I am definitely going to go back and read books #1 through #3.5. 4 out of 5 rating. Love this cover!!
***ARC provided by Carrie Ann Ryan ~ Thank you so much-it was my pleasure to read!!! :)
This was a heartbreaking and frustrating love story. But don't get me wrong, that is the sheer talent and genius of this author. She listens to her characters and she writes what they tell her. She does not ignore them and consequently they give her one hell of a story every time.
There is no other way to say this but to say that Adam Jamenson is emotionally ***ked up. He has every right to be. He lost his soul mate and unborn baby to a horrific and wrongful death due to the Centrals Pack. Depression and vengeance are eating him alive.
Bay Milton finds herself in danger and runs to the only safety that is available to her--the Redwood Pack. They are her pack now, she knows this. But she also knows that they will not want her there, expecially Adam. Not only is she bringing a big shock with her to the Pack but she is also keeping a dark secret from them.
This story was a huge rollercoaster ride and I loved every minute of it. Carrie Ann takes you from extreme highs to the darkest lows. At times, I had to put the Kindle down and walk away but always, always I rushed back to pick it back up. Not only is the love story frustrating and amazing but the outside conflict with the Centrals keeps you on the edge of your chair. This is a beautifully written story with so many emotional aspects to it, it will leave you breathless but well satisfied. Carrie Ann Ryan is an amazing author and I love the way she writes. Carrie Ann, keep it up!! I am waiting for Maddox!
Oh Adam, why are you such a douchebag and unbecoming of your station as an Enforcer. He's so whiny and over the top with his angst that I just want to take my Kindle and slap him throughout the story. Infact, I was disappointed with the Jamensons in general especially the Alpha (Adam's parents). They did nothing to help ease Bay's uneasiness ... oh sure, Pat (the mom) gave some lip service about wanting Bay to be in the family but she was so insincere. It's all about Anna, the sweet mate that Adam lost ... oh boohoo! It's just so bloody annoying!
What saved me from totally hating this story is Bay. Yes, she had her off moments when she let her feelings for Adam ruled over her but what do you expect? I cheered for her when she gave Adam the verbal smackdown. I love the Jamesons brothers but right now Adam is my least favourite of them all. He left it too late in my eyes to redeem himself and I couldn't bring myself to like him. I feel so bad for writing this unsavoury review because I love Carrie Ann Ryan. I just don't love the direction which she took in writing this story.
This is book 3 in the he series. Please read in order since the stories and event are on going even thought each book is about them finding their mate and gaining another step to defeat the evil. Overview. Adam has had a hard time after the lose of his mate Anna and their unborn baby. After watching is brothers find their mate(s), he leaves. Drives from Washington state to a small Southern California city. Has a one night stand with Bay the waitress and trying to find peace/numb from his past. Bay is a lone wolf that waitresses at a bar. When she sees Adam, she decided she needed a one night stand. But fate and the moon goddess decided that Bay and Adam were to be mates. When Bay wakes up, Adam is gone. 8 months later she shows up at their den needing help. Someone is after her and her soon to be born baby. But when Adam sees her, he freaks out. He doesn't want her or the baby or their matting bond. But Alpha put the fear in him and makes them live together. Adam fights his past and present, while Bay fights her present and her mate. But secrets come out that change everything.
Adam is a broken wolf. Twenty years ago he lost his mate and unborn child, and he mourns them still. He believes he can never love again and does not want another mate. Bay is a lone wolf with a secret. She is now mated to Adam and pregnant with his child. And, something is after her. She needs help and protection. Will Adam and the Redwoods take her in? Can they protect her?
Both Adam and Bay have broken pasts and secrets. Can they overcome them and find the future and love that they deserve? Will they become the family that their child needs? Will Bay trust Adam with her secret before it is too late, or will the evil that stalks her destroy her and the Redwood Pack?
Adam stole my heart in Trinity Bound. He is so shattered, so full of pain. In this book, Carrie Ann tells his story through a mix of joy, sorrow, love, and, of course, the presence of evil and disaster. Read this wonderful book and see what happens to Bay and Adam. You won't regret it!
The more I think about this book after reading it the more it upsets me. Adam was the biggest asshole. I get that he's tortured because of everything that happened to him but gawd that's no excuse for being so terrible to absolutely everyone around you. Bay did NOTHING to deserve any of his bullshit, and Adam kept admitting that, but he continued to treat her like shit! Lower than shit! And I'm still pissed as hell with how easily she forgave him because ~near-death experiences~ or whatever. But seriously. Dude treated you like the scum of the Earth, walked out on you in a time of need, wasn't there in another time of need (sure it wasn't exactly his fault but his disappearance only furthers that's he's a huge asshole), yet Bay takes no time to let him grovel or make it up to her or anything and just gets over it like it was nothing. I'm not even in this relationship and I'm STILL not over it. Basically don't read this unless you want your heart ripped out and then little-to-no time spent on making it better.
I could not wait to read Adam's story, for him to start healing, because that is what he needed. He has been hurting for so long, his mate and child were killed by the Centrals and the guilt is eating him alive.
Bay comes into the picture with a huge surprise for the pack, especially Adam, but she has no one to turn to and she needs his protection. He is harsh towards her, but it's only because he is fighting to get close to her. Evil once again creeps onto their grounds and Adam has to confront his emotions and letting go of the past in order to see a future. If anyone needs happiness in their lives, its Adam and Bay. You will love Bay's character, she is strong and stands up to Adam many times.
This story is very emotional, you feel for and with the characters, whether it's sorrow or happiness and even getting mad at them...you will not want to miss this installment of the next Redwood Pack story.
