This cookbook is a collection of recipes which were published by the _Delta Magazine_ over the years. The recipes range from very traditional Mississippi Delta staples--pimento cheese, cornbread, fried catfish--to more modern fare--corn and black bean salsa, Thai basil homemade mayonnaise, crawfish cakes. It's got good photography as well as a little bit of description for each recipe and some actual writing about the Delta itself. As a Delta girl currently living in Alaska, this cookbook made me intensely homesick and a little bit teary-eyed when I opened it Christmas morning. If you're at all interested in the Mississippi Delta and what its environs eat, pick it up. Even if you just want some ideas for delicious food that might be outside your comfort zone, get yourself one.
