Forty-five-year-old Dana Markus knows a full moon makes people act crazy. It’s why they call the power company with stories about aliens disrupting the earth’s climate. It probably explains why her ex-husband left her for a girl scarcely older than their college-age daughter. It definitely accounts for why she impulsively invited the neighbor’s hunk of a son over for a skinny-dip. And why 28-year-old Lon Corbin accepted.
Lon doesn’t think much of the mass of rock orbiting the earth, but he does think he’s the luckiest man alive when the sexy divorcee he’s admired from afar invites him into her pool. He knows she has reservations about their age difference, but he’s planning to show her in a very physical way how good they could be together if she’ll give him the chance.
But when their simmering private passion boils over into a public relationship, family pressures and schemes threaten to split the couple apart.
The moon brought them together -- but can it save them?
Publisher's This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find voyeurism.
USA Today bestselling author Cara Bristol writes science fiction romance about tough alien and cyborg heroes who fall hard for sassy heroines.
Cara is a homebody who married a wanderer. When she’s not writing or being distracted by squirrels cavorting outside her office window, she enjoys reading and traveling the world with her husband. Topping her bucket list is visiting all seven continents and petting a squirrel.
This was a fast, sexy story that I read in two short nights! I loved the characters. Dana- the 45 year old divorcee, still hurting after her husband leaves her for a younger woman. Lon - the 28 year old doctor, confident, passionate, able to teach Dana all about the pleasures of spontaneity.
And it all started with a little skinny dipping under the full moon.
Their sex was amazing, and so descriptively written, you could feel the heat! One of my favorite scenes was at the beginning, when Lon told Dana to continue her phone conversation, while he continued his ministrations. Mmmm, too hot!
The plot was also fantastic. Besides the realistic doubts and fears from both main characters, there were also the issues that confronted them, when their relationship was discovered by their respective families. It was very interesting and sad to see Dana's daughter's reaction to the relationship. She had seemed ok with her father's relationship with the young woman who was a year younger than her. But she reacted very badly to Dana and Lon, bringing up a social point.
Why does it seem more acceptable for an older man/ younger woman relationship, than the reverse?
I won't give away the ending, but will say that I was very pleased with the HEA.
This book had a great plot, lots of fun sex, and wonderful characters in this quick story. I read it in two short nights, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
This story was decent. I found it interesting that she raked her ex over the coals for dating someone so much younger than him, but then she turned around and dated a younger man. To be fair, though, I think there's a difference between 49 and 22 (I think that's how old the girlfriend was) vs 45 and 28. Not that they're both big gaps, but 10 years is a substantial difference. I also found it really wrong that their daughter never said anything about her father's infidelity, but laid into her mom about the age difference when she confessed her relationship with Lon. Anyhoo... I thought it was sweet how into each other they were. I was glad that Lon finally came to his senses, but I wasn't sure why the daughter was at his apartment to tell him she lied. How the hell does she know where he lives? It would have been more believable if she'd tracked him down at the hospital. But maybe I'm just being picky. :-) Anyway, it was a cute story, though likely forgettable.
I have to admit, I’ve been curious about this author. I hadn’t read anything by her before now, because the titles I’d seen were domestic discipline in nature, and while I understand it’s purely fantasy and escapism, that’s a no-go area for me, no matter what. So when I saw this older woman/younger man story come up, I decided to take the plunge and try her. I learned something very important. Her erotic style and sense of humor don’t mesh with what I enjoy.
It’s a straightforward contemporary. Dana is forty-five and in the throes of a divorce. Her husband cheated on her and left her for a woman only two years older than their daughter, and Dana is feeling less than desirable. She fantasizes about the neighbor’s hot son, a twenty-eight year-old doctor with a body like Adonis. The night they actually get to meet face to face – in her backyard after she’s been skinnydipping – that fantasy becomes reality. Lon has been lusting after his parents’ hot neighbor for months, and now that he has got a taste of her, he wants to have a go at dating. She’s a little hung up on the age difference, but he quickly takes care of that. With lots and lots of sex.
Buying from LI is a lot like buying from EC 90% of the time. The focus tends to be on the sex in the romances, which isn’t always a bad thing. It only gets in the way when the erotic style doesn’t work for me, and unfortunately, that was the case here. Much of it has to do with terminology, and that’s a preferential thing that varies from reader to reader. What bothered me – like having cocks and pussies referred to as “weeping” – might not bother others. I did debate early on if I should keep going once I realized I was going to have issues with it, but because it’s such a recent release and because I’ve been so curious about this author for so long, I stuck it out.
It wasn’t just the erotic style that didn’t work for me. Attempts to lighten the mood with jokes and banter fell flat as well. Humor is so subjective, though. Lines like, “I plan for you and my cock to get to be best friends,” are obviously meant to be funny (within the context of the story), but just made me roll my eyes and wonder if I was reading about teenagers instead of adults. I ended up feeling rather indifferent about the whole experience, from the characters to the romance to the sex. I don’t regret buying this book, though, because my curiosity has finally been satisfied.
This story offered a fun, wild ride right from the first page. The chemistry (and the sex scenes--hawt!) between Lon and Dana was scorching, and I loved how the author wove in these little moments of vulnerability in both of their characters to also make their feelings believable. Both characters were also highly likeable in their own right, which really made me route for them to be together. If I offered any criticism, it would be how unlikeable I found Dana's daughter, despite apologizing for a lapse in judgment, but it was a minor enough part of the story it didn't detract from my great enjoyment. Read in an afternoon and definitely recommend!
I discovered Reckless In Moonlight reading Cara's "Six Sentence Sunday" excerpts on her blog. Those little snippets were good, but the book in its entirety is so much better!
The writing is really smooth and the story is totally enjoyable. Lots of super-hot sex scenes--all of them fantastic--and characters who felt real and likeable. Especially Lon, who's about as dreamy as they come. It's a shame he's not real...and my neighbor. ;)
I highly recommend Reckless In Moonlight. Go buy it right now. :)
This book was very...satisfying. Lon and Dana hit all the right chords in me and helped me understand exactly how a May/December romance could and does work. Wow! I may never look at our pool the same again. Or the moon. This book was hot, hot, hot with just the right amount of kink to keep me turning the pages well past bedtime. A thorough and satisfying read in every way :)
This was one smooth hot read. I needed a good escape this week and I found it in Dana and Lon. It's such a sexy read and the writing is fabulous. I love the way the story builds. It's real and lusty. So good. Another must read from Cara Bristol.
This was a hot little weekend escape for me. The book started out with a sizzling fantasy that left me begging for more. The rest did not let me down. I enjoyed the refreshing change if pace of an older woman with a younger, but successful & verile man.
