Isla Harding's debut story is a thrilling read that will have you hooked from the start.

Not only has she created something new and fresh, but you will find yourself absorbed into the story and running through the woods with the characters. I'm eagerly anticipating the next book.

Warning, this story is dark and you should check triggers before reading.

This book is dark so check your trigger warnings PLEASE

*This is a prequel novella and told in the pov of 5 people.*
You learn so much in 160 pages, and it leaves you at the end ready for more. (There is a slight cliff hanger but nothing too big)

I really liked this novella! You are learning a lot about the characters, I fell for our FMC and my heart broke for her over and over. You get to see kind of why they are who they are.
It really gives me LOST mixed with stranger things but darker.

You start with most of the kids fairly young and we get to see them grow up. There is not much spice in this, there is some NC and some MM but the next book you can tell will be building those relationships. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for our 5 misfits and what is going to happen when the next siren rings.

I’m so glad I got to be apart of your debut novel and I can’t wait for what else you put out! ❤️

This story was a short read of things that will haunt my dreams. Who made this island and why is no one looking for these children?!????

Multiple POV’s normally don’t bother me. Only once has there been a time when the many POV’s got in the way of the story and it got to me. This was close to being the second time. There are six POV’s in this book. One perspective is only used once, while the other five have stronger voices in the tale of this vile island. If you grab this, please read the trigger warnings. Some things that occur or are discussed can be triggering for some.

As stated above, this story follows six children, yes children, through eight years of abuse, agony, and fear. Some of the stories start when the children are as young as ten. As the story went on, the lives of the characters start to intertwine. So much so, that the need to know outweighed the shock and dread running through me over what the children were having to endure. With the multiple POV’s, it would be somewhat aggravating to switch to a new perspective in the middle of a scene. Mostly because when that would happen it was a new scene on a different part of the island, not a POV on the other side of the room. It makes sense to do so from a storytellers perspective. For selfish reasons, it didn’t because the anticipation from the previous scene was built up. What happened? Was she/he caught? Who was attacked? Did they get hurt or worse? Where and when will we get these answer Isla?

If you are a fan of The Maze Runner and The Hunger Games, this is right up your alley. It does leave you on a slight cliffhanger. Yes, cliffhangers are the devil. We know this. We have discussed this. That said, there is more of a wrapped up feel than books such as The Flock or Fable.

🌶️🌶️

Okay so this book seriously kills it’s with the creative plot line. This is absolutely one of a kind, never read a single book like it ever and I loved it. It is a prequel novella and was an easy and quick read. It sets up so many things for the next book and I cannot wait to read that one!

Picture this:

There are 3 islands:

Muliercula is the island that the abducted women live on.
Virilis is the island that the abducted men live on.
Venatio is the island that the hunters/doctors live on.

This books starts off with each character as children and over the course of the book they gradually get older. Fair warning, these children go through some shit. Most were abducted from their home life, whether shitty or not, and the hunters were raised by doctors who forced them into things.

This books has a super interested experimentation aspect to it. There is a siren that sounds off on the men and women’s islands. Once the siren goes off, you need to run. Each time you’re caught, you’re injected with something. Depending on what is dependent on the outcome. BUT I will say there is a human ability aspect to this book as well (super strength, speed, etc.)

Not all the hunters are remorseful. There’s a lot of assault and pillaging. This book is told from the POV of multiple characters and is going to be a reverse harem poly am why choose.

A lot of them to be exact 😳

Corrupted Torment is a prequel novella duet by Isla Harding. Told in MPOV. ⚠️Beware of TW going into the book⚠️.

Nixi is twelve when she is dropped on Muliercula an island, waking up to knowing nothing about the environment or why she is there, but she quickly learns. Not all is as it seems when the first siren rings.

There is more then one island and we follow the guys POV as well Rafferty, Huck, and Solomon. All isn’t right here either when they hear the siren they run. What is it that they are running from? Can the Hunter really be trusted?

The blurb caught my attention first and the book didn’t disappoint. It’s intriguing and kept me turning the pages of my kindle unfortunately it does end on a cliffhanger (but not brutally) leaving us with lots of questions. I mean I have LOTS of questions!! This book seems to span fourteen years.

Isla did such a good job bringing her story to life. The age differences between them all was a little confusing for me. This is not a spicy book it is dark with the majority non-con. The book list MM and it does seem like it will head that way in the further book. Overall great read and would definitely recommend don’t wait you won’t be disappointed! 🖤💜 Can’t wait for the next book to learn if Rafferty gets what he wants.

This book is dark and has a lot of trigger warning ⚠️⚠️ read them before starting the book.

This a novella, it introduces Nixi our FMC and our MMCs, Dario, Huck, Solomon, Rafferty
Our characters are all on an island ( men and female are separated so I am not sure if it's two side of the same island or two different island next or close to each other.

Rafferty is an odd ball he isn't a prisoner like Niki and the other guys but he is still one.

I really love the dynamic between Dario and Huck.
I love Nixi and I can't wait to read the sequel to see them have more interactions between them and for Nixi to meet the rest of the guys.

This is a mutli Pov book and we meet our characters when they are 8 to 15 the first time and we see them grow throughout the years and chapters, it's a bit confusing at first to track where the time line is with their different ages but after a few chapters everything become linear and it happens almost simultaneously.
I really loved to see how each group had a different version of what was happening to them, they aren't on the same side of the story yet.
There are so many questions I have.
Who is the Doctor ? What is he trying to achieve ? Why ?
Why are they on the islands ?

This is Isla Harding debut's book and she nailed it !!!

So this is a prequel novella to a main book that’s going to be released at a later date and boy does it set you up well!
We get an insight into the world building here, there’s different islands one for women, one for men, and one for the hunters. The men and women are captured and placed on their islands to survive each other, the hunters and the needles!!😖😖
We have Rafferty the Hunter, Solomon, Hank and Dario are male captives, and then Phoenix are FMC - these are the POVs were riven and so I’m assuming they’re going to be the harem, especially as there’s some MM developing and then Nix has some relationship with her protector as she named him! There’s minimum contact between the harem in this one but it has been set up for the next book 😁
It certainly gets you intrigued as to what on earth is the point to all this…especially when the paranormal element begins to surface!
And with that doozy of a cliffhanger you know you have to read the next book!
A greasy dark rh debut here!!

⚠DO NOT SLEEP ON THE TRIGGERS HERE!⚠

Since this is a prequel, a lot of this story is when the characters are underage, which makes the content that much more intense. Please, please, take the warning seriously.

I'm sitting here aching for the rest of this story. We get the setup for several characters. The main fmc is Nixi, and my heart shattered for her. Then there's Huck and Dario, who bond as soon as Huck decides he's going to be Dario's protector, and their tension as they grow older is sweet and fascinating. Rafferty probably had the most startling character shift, and I can't wait to figure him out some more. Solomon tries to be a loner, but he needs company more than he's willing to admit.

This debut will rock you with the emotions and traumatic events all the characters endure. I have so many questions and theories swirling in my head, and I am not above begging the author for more words. She's stuck with me now!

Corrupted Torment by Isla Harding is a short prequel that will be coming out later this year. It contains dark paranormal themes, so please check for triggers before you dive in.

The plot follows a bunch of kids who got kidnapped and dumped on a couple of islands where they have to try to survive between monsters and experiments.

The story is written in multiple POVs and those are set during different ages throughout the story that makes it a little hard to follow the story sometimes, but I understand why the author chose to introduce everyone that will (probably?) be important later in the actual storyline.

I have a lot of questions about what in the ever loving fudge is going on on these islands and what will happen with everyone, so I'm really looking forward to read the next book!

This author has a fantastic writing style that will draw you in, and leave you wanting more. It's an incredibly dark book, with violent non-con scenes and is written in a way where you are left feeling all of the heartbreaking emotion of these children, without being over the top graphic.

The only place that I struggled with this book was the number of different POVs. Given that they change ages as the story progresses, I did get confused with who was connected to who at some points and it took awhile to understand that there was an island of girls and an island of boys, as well as the tormentors.

This was a great introduction to the story and I look forward to seeing where it will go from here and gaining more understanding to why this is happening.

Oh I loved this. There was so much going on and I had so many questions. I know this was a novella but it felt like a tease of what’s to come. Please read the trigger warnings, of course.

There were quite a few characters and a decent amount of back-and-forth. I loved the different point of views as you try to piece what exactly is going on. It was never fully revealed but I have some hypothesizes. As you see the characters grow and adapt you can’t help but wonder how they will all eventually meet and how they will be able to function after this trauma.

This was such an interesting concept and I can’t wait to see how the series unfolds.

For being the prequel of Nixi's story it definitely did its job! I'm here waiting on the edge of my seat to see what will happen next.

The story focuses on five MC each have their own story from the islands to tell about and what they have gone through. While we follow along each of them as they get older you can pick up little tales of bonds already starting to grow between the four MMCs.

While the men have grown up on the same island they each have their own backgrounds and what seems to bonds them together. While Nixi grew up on a different island that only the hunters go to she has her own tragic story and past.

Without wanting to give too much of the story away I will say I'm excited how Nixi will bring the men together as one, and see where the story will venture to.

Although this is classed as a prequel it is almost the same length as some other books that I've read.
This is different to almost any other book I've read. It's dark and dangerous with plenty of action and characters that i really want to delve into and a story that made my head spin.
Read the content warnings, it starts with a bang and doesn't let up.
I need, really need, to find out what happens next.

Exceptional Debut

This book is like nothing I have ever read before.

The characters each have incredibly individual personalities. Each of them are easily decipherable without needing the author to state who is who.

It is dark, so dark and wonderful. The story gripped me from page one and had my stomach twisting with each passing chapter. It ends spectacularly and I just want more NEED more. This author is one to watch. Absolutely brilliant.

First thoughts? Um well it’s not that I didn’t enjoy the book because it is a good novella, I just couldn’t get into the background and the situation of everything until towards the end of the book which was a bummer. I also expecting a lot more spice but it never happened. It’s an okay book, probably wouldn’t read again.

Fast-paced not entirely sure what is happening yet. Very good little novella to start a series. Quite invested in several of the characters already. The characters have a good personality built around each of them. I am very intrigued to see where this goes.

This book is so dark, so vile, and so well written. It's quite obviously a prequel, a story about children who had been abused since a very young age, growing up in these disgusting conditions, being tested and hunted. As they grow, they find alliances and small pleasures to pass the other horribleness.

I can't wait for the main story!
