I made the hardest decision any omega can. To leave my pack.
Even though one of them was my soulmate, it wasn’t working. They hid things. I didn’t have a future with them.
This spa vacation was supposed to be a break from everything. A chance to find myself again.
But there are alphas here to tempt me. An attachment that won’t be denied. Plus danger I never saw coming.
Maybe I should have stayed home.
Featuring sensitive and stubborn alphas, a strong omega, fated mates, knotty fun, and second chances. If you like a quick read with a lot of steam, this book is for you.
Knot Twist is a sweet and spicy, M/F reverse harem Omegaverse, with suspense elements and a guaranteed happily ever after. It’s Book 2 of the Unbonded Omegas series, picking up immediately after Sylvie’s story left off, but can be read as a standalone.
This book is like the reverse harem omegaverse equivalent of a sweet and steamy instalove novella.
Set up: Kat has left her pack (they were not a good match), is spending a week at a spa, and catches the eye of several alphas and ends up with a new pack of her own. Even though I wasn’t expecting a lot of character or relationship development (the book is only 166 pages), I was pleasantly surprised by the threads we got which meant I had no issues telling the 3 MMCs apart. Kat having history with 2 of the alphas was also a good shortcut to having relationship depth.
I read this immediately after the first book in the series (Knot Bonded), and have similar feelings about them. They’re both really short, but they hit the spot for when I’m in the mood for a quick and low-angst read.
Okay, there really should have been more angst here. She literally leaving her pack after 3 years. There should be SOME mistrust of other alphas. Why was that whole bit so easy?! How did she stay in a relationship for 3 years with people she barely made small talk with??? And the insta-love was wow so fast.
The setup and potential for this story was amazing, yet it really missed the bar. A lot. 3 stars for the attempt at having some plot and the fact that I am still going to read the next book because I need to know what happens to Tracy.
In general, I liked the story. I was hyped for the Kat's story, because of the first book. Upfront, I like the first one better, since the idea was a unique one. And I felt a deeper connection between the characters there than I feel it here.
Kat's story was interesting, because of her leaving her pack. I had hoped for a little more? It was like, she left the pack, no big heartbreak or anything (except for Tom). She goes on her way of self-discovering and her plan for the future. And then everything goes quickly. She meets her two other scent matches, and then there is the little side story with the missing Omega. It was predictable where that will lead to.
And that was disappointing. Besides, the situation with her mother… I felt left hanging, because that wasn't addressed afterward. Not solved or anything. I would have wished for a moment of her telling her off or something.
Next moment we have the epilogue. Again, it was a big time jump with not many details on the kids or their life in general. It seems to be there for another smutty moment, and that was it. I didn't see the point.
But I still give 4 stars, because I enjoyed reading the overall story. It was sweet, and I liked the characters, even though not everything made sense to me. I give it the benefit of the doubt, too, since it is a short story. Meaning, I kind of expect it that there will be things missing, or the author isn't as thoroughly as she should be. So, therefore, it was good for a short story. I know similar ones with fewer details or substance.
So, it was overall ok and cute. But it is for sure nothing special or the same as some big titles in that genre. But it is good if you look for something quick and easy.
After Knot Bonded, I was really looking forward to Kat’s story. I was so intrigued by her situation. Kat had left her pack after discovering all but one of them was cheating on her. I was dying to know if she would find all new alphas or reunite with her one bonded alpha from her previous pack. I got those answers in Knot Twist but was left unsatisfied. I would have liked to have gone back in time or had flashbacks where I could see her interactions with that pack. Instead we never even meet them. Really, all of the conflict felt unresolved. Or at least we didn’t see them resolved. She also has problems with her parents that are just dropped, and the villain is never really spoken of again after apprehended. Overall, I think the concept of the story is great but I needed to see more.
This book is the continuation of the story of a background character from the first book. The FMC is trying to find who they are as a person after having lived so long trying to appease everyone else in their lives. This was a short story, fast burn, with some great straight forward characters that develop quickly.
I look forward to the stories of the other background characters!
I liked the idea of an omega taking the decision to separate from her pack and I would have liked reading more about it. The rest of the book was a bit slow paced and flat for me.
Look, the omega gone missing felt a little lame and honestly like a different story. The mother angle also felt a little strange, especially when there wasn’t really a resolution with her. Why even mention it?
Quick, fun, and easy read. You don't read many omegaverse books with this kind of storyline. Gwen did a great job of incorporating it into the story with a HEA.
