The Smalltalk system described here was designed in the summer of 1972 and first conversed haltingly with a user late that fall. It was released for more general use at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARe) in spring 1973 when the first "Interim Dynabook" became available.
Adele Goldberg is an American computer scientist. She was one of the co-developers of the programming language Smalltalk-80 and of various concepts related to object-oriented programming while a researcher at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), in the 1970s.
